Just got a call from this number. Said it was 'Air Miles' and asked me to press '1'. I didn't and hung up

Who is the caller? and why?

They called me 3 TIMES IN A ROW!!at 11:23 and didn't leave a voicemail... Thank goodness I'm employed and missed the call.  Ridiculous that we have to find a way to protect ourselves from 'junk mail' phone calls.

3:15 pm, Vancouver, BC on Wednesday August 1, 2012. I did not recognize the number, did not answer. and they did not leave a voicemail. Checked internet right away and that is why I am here.

I've put them in my Primus Telemarketing Guard.
It appeared to far too amateurish to be officially affiliated with AirMiles.
Likely a scammer or someone like that.
Hopefully, that's the last I've heard from them.
It wouldn't surprise me, if they have a bank of number.

Just got a call from this number saying I have just won a bunch of air miles and to accept I had to press one. searched the number while call was still connected and it just hung up on me once their was no response.

I received a call this a.m.  I searched thr reverse phone book and got info that this number is a "Land Phone". I ask for the name and address and was informed that both are available but for a fee.   "City, State: Ladner, BC" this is where the directory says the number originated from.  I won't pay the amount for the name.  Maybe you will?

Did not answer the call. The message left was, "Your reward points. To accept, press 1".

I just got this call - didnt answer

Received a call from 7782638989 and when I answered a recorded message told me the call was from airmiles and that I had been selected and won 2,600 airmiles - to accept I needed  to press the number 1.  I hung up - are these people clueless???  If airmiles was going to give out free airmiles they would contact the person in another way and not by a recording on the phone.  I guess some people fall for this - they must.

Called my office line at 1:48pm Mountain time. I answered and it was thin air, line went dead after 12 seconds

I got a call at 1657 Alberta time, missed it called back said it was not In service.

I would doubt if this is an actual call from a legal part or even any part of Rogers. Although had to learn the hard way that Telus telephone business is NOT the same as the Telus land line business or even affiliated with Telus Business Centers. If you sign on with someone on the phone good luck trying to get anywhere at a real Telus business. Two completely different entities. Same could be for Roger's, don't know though. But ya this same number keeps calling me the only one besides the annoying "This is your Captain speaking" prize scam. Like to take that Captain's head and shove it, cap and all, up his own.... you know where.

So I got the same Airmiles call from this number and my dumbass friend pressed 1 because it was on speakerphone. It immediately hung up after she pressed it. Does anyone know what this actually does?! I read in one of the previous comments that, if you press 1, it'll call long distance and charge it to your account. Is that true? Someone please answer this is actually worrying me.

Just got this call at 1300, Nanaimo BC, didn't recognize the number and it had  a "Unavailable" name so I didn't answer it.  Didn't leave a message so I checked the number on the net and ended up here.   To add after looking at the dates of these post I'm shocked this number has been doing this for such a long time...
