Yes, I got a letter and a postcard and it seemed like it might be legit to me,so I called just to check and got talked into making an appointment, but before going I decided to check the internet to see if it was legit or not and then read all this. It's not worth it to drive for 45 minutes and spend 90 only to get a $40 gift car and some crappy vacation. I called back to cancel my appointment and the man was incredibly rude and kept refusing to cancel my appointment and finally hung up on me!

I have received one of those award notices in the mail... something looked suspicious right away when they said that due to my recent entry I was chosen as a winner and at the same time used my maiden name (I was married for over 5 years and have not used my maiden name just as long)...
Looks like a scam to me
p.s. I have received 2 of those letters in the mail in 3 week period...

SCAM!!!!!  Talked to a sales Rep. Misty.  When I kindly asked her to take my name off of her list.  She became extremely rude, and hung up on me.  Then called my home number, 4-5 times and would hang up.  I have caller I.D..  Where do they draw the line.  What type of unprofessional people do they hire, especially if they have access to my home number, and address.

I too rcvd a "boarding pass" accompanied with a letter.  I called them up and they promised several gifts.  They told me to come to South Lee, MA for the 90 min presentation.  They told me that someone such as a family or friend gave them my contact info but they couldn't confirm who exactly did.  I could already feel the pressure on the phone, what more of actually sitting through the presentation and be scammed all before your very eyes.  The representative would not let me speak but rather kept on going.  I had to hang up on her.

No call, just received a mailing, but might I just say "common sense"...if it sounds too good, it is.  They reel you in one way or another and think to yourself, "Do I really want to run the risk of losing my savings account over a trip in this economy?".  I'll tell you I watched an interesting program last night that focuses on the fact that since people in this economy are so desperate, the scams are on the rise right now.  A very valid "job" is mystery shoppers, right?  Well there are places out there, sending you money to place in your account, sending you out shopping and when you complete the task, you need to send the money back to the vendor.  The hook is that they let tell you that you get to keep a significant portion of the check as payment for the shopping and documentation you provide to them on your experience.  Little does the person know, that the check they send to you bounces.  We are talking thousands of dollars you lose!  Be smart and report these scams, they are disgusting and should be squashed.

Recieved letter in the mail...had wrong middle initial...called them up and informed them of the mistake and the guy said it was no problem (seems that it would if they were going to give me all this free stuff) He told me the dates that i could come down i told him that i couldnt make either and he magically pulled up another date. Its the same company in Ilinois Loretta commented on earlier on this thread (thank you by the way for your story.)

You can add 1-800-309-8595 to the list along with Priority Reservation Code: 173879279-0160 which strangely my girlfriend got in the mail unsolicited and I got by way of recorded message to my phone. We live in different towns and counties but got the same info by different mothods.

As a professtional web programmer, becareful going to those sites that may or may not be related. If you were to click on the contact us link, you are giving permission by clicking that buton for them to track you with cookies and other methods, permission is all in the code. You do not see it, and you do not know about it until you get a mailbox, telephone and email all bombed by telemarketers and scams.. They also on their site's privacy policy say they will issue a PII (personal Identification Identifier) and distribute and or sell your information any way they want to. The begining of the poicy says they will protect your information in very odd worded paragraphs. Scroll down to the definitions and see what they really mean by reading their twisted meanings of words like privacy.

The calls I got at seperate times would show the same number but different id's. AVC travel and Dish Networks Inc. That could just mean they are paying a calling center to handle all the telemarketing. Being I made alot of the software they use to read the scripts and identify the callers. I made a public apology for that a few years back.

Dish Networks Inc. cal told me by a robot that my financed large flat lcd screen tvs, dish networks tv box, and the dish pr something were approved and the call was to confirm my delivery and install the following day. I would never use a dish and I never called to even ask for one. Thats their protecting your privacy in true working order.

And yes I know I have bad spelling.

The man I spoke to gave me his name, the days I could come to Lee, MA and, after looking at the properties AVC Travel has for sale, I would receive all of the prizes, money, etc. offered in the letter I received today. He said to call him back tomorrow to tell him which day I would come to Lee.

The name he gave me and the # to call to tell him which day I would be coming to Lee are: Josh Hampton & 1-(866) 617-9807

Fortunately I had sense enough to do a bit of research on the Web.  As I expected, the letter I received from AVC Travel is without any doubt a clever SCAM!

I also received a letter from AVC stating I won all these things. I called them they asked for my number and I gave it to them like an idiot. They have not called me yet but I am sure they will. I asked them if they were a scam because it sounded to good to be true they said, "no we are not a scam we are a legit business who has been around for 20years." I told them that I did not have transportation to get to the resort they said have a friend take you and we will give her a $40. American express gift card.
I think if this really is a scam then something needs to be done about this company so people are not taken advantage of. Does any one have any ideas of how we can stop this scam?

It's a scam mailed letter about winning a car, shopping spree etc. No web address, coming from N Richland Hills TX. Sent with boarding voucher and baggage ticket, looks totally legit until you research the number online. Complained with the Texas BBB. Maybe some day they will shut this down. It seems as if they move their PO Box and keep at it.
