Totally legit.  Discover Card verifying purchases. Totally automated; only information they asked for was that I press 1 or 2.  Since I have been using my DiscoverCard frequently because of special offer of 0% interest but haven't used it otherwise in ages, it is nice to know they are watching over it!  Bravo Discover!

    TO CLEAR THINGS UP:

After receiving a call from 800-350-4577 today, I went ahead and called the number on the back of my Discover card (1-800-discover). The woman I spoke with at Discover (in Customer Service) actually called the 800-350-4577 for me as she placed me on hold for about a miute. She verified that indeed the number is legit and is indeed a Discover owned phone number. She stated that they (Discover) have lots of 1-800 numbers. She transferred me to 800-350-4577 and I was NOT asked for my SS number, account number, etc. The system recognized my cell phone number and was able to automatically pull up the $1600 transaction that the Discover fraud dept. was questioning. Because I was the one who indeed authorized the transaction, all I had to do to confirm the charge was by pressing 1.

No need to worry about the 800-350-4577 phone number. All is well.

Called at 0940 this morning. Did not answer it since it was an 800 number. Googled it and found out it was a legit number from Discover fraud. I called them back and they just wanted to verify 2 purchases I had made 2 days before in a different city. It was all automatic, they recognized my telephone number and went straight to my account. All I was ask to do was to press 1 to verify that I made the purchases.

This is an automated fraud control call from Discover Credit card to make sure that you charged something online to your card. I called the 800 number on the back of my card and the Discover customer representative confirmed that.

Discover Fraud Prevention, it's my birthday month so double cashback, been spending everything on my discover card, so they just wanted to make sure seeing so much money was being spent. Asked me about three transactions, 2 from a restaurant and one order online that totaled to around $200 total, all were legit. Because I called from my cell and the voicemail was left at home they DID ask my to input my phone number the voicemail was left at, but that's it. No SS#, acct. info, anything else.

Very speedy process considering it's all automated.

This is a fraudulent call that where the company committing the fraud is posting to this website and making claims that their calls are legitimate in order to cover their tracks.  NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL IDENTIFYING INFORMATION (PII) OVER THE PHONE FROM SOMEONE WHO CALLS YOU!  Ask for their number, Google that number, and call the organization they claim to represent.  Never give out PII over the phone to ANYONE (even the IRS) to someone calling you!  If they are legit they will identify themselves and give you a legitimate call back number.  However, even if they do give you a legitimate or real call back number to the "real" organization it doesn't mean the person originally calling wasn't attempting to commit a fraud!

Be wise and tell those spam callers to go **** themselves! :)

This phone number (800.350.4577) is NOT from Discover Card but from Chase Bank.  I received a voicemail from them yesterday claiming they are from Discover Card but caller ID says "Chase Bank".  They had our full names and said they needed us to call back by 10:00 PM the next evening to check on suspicious activity on our Discover Card account.

Since I have the REAL phone number to Discover's Fraud Dept, I called that one instead.  The real phone number for Discover Card Fraud Dept is:  800.347.4996.  When I called that number, the lady confirmed that the other number from Chase Bank was a fraud number that Chase Bank is using to get our personal information from Discover Card.  She also told me that Chase Bank is their biggest competitor.

800-350-4577 called 3 times today. As I never answer an 800 call (i check here first!) i read that it was Discover card. I went to check my account online and and couldn't get in. I called  the fraud number on my account page and yes, someone had tried using my card. So I have to say the 4577 # is a legit Discover number.

I recently purchased a Christmas present online for someone.  The transaction did not go through and I almost immediately received an e-mail from Discover Card's fraud department.  I've had this happen once before when I was out of state making a purchase.  Kudos to Discover for trying to prevent the fraud, even if it is a little inconvenient.

Odd thing was 2 days later I received a voicemail from an automated system claiming to be from Discover Card's fraud department.  They had my full name and said they needed me to call back by 10:00 PM the next evening to verify 3 transactions on my Discover Card account.  There was also a reference code mentioned...another odd thing.

When a simple reverse lookup on the phone number came back "unknown" and did not match the legitimate number I called earlier in the week (1-800-347-3723), I got even more suspicious.  I called the legitimate number and spoke with the true Discover fraud department.  They looked it up (800-350-4577) and said it was NOT from Discover.

So please be careful!  This call sounds VERY legit.  I agree with some of the earlier advice.  Call the number on the back of your card and have them transfer you, so you know you're talking to the right folks.

This is a good Discover Fraud number.  They were somehow tipped off on a very low charge, froze my account and called me.  There were two subsequent attempts at larger charges that were rejected. I was impressed with their software to say the least. I have no idea how my card was compromised, it wasn't lost.  I was however very cautious.  After I called this number I told them I was going to hang up and call the number on the back of the card.  They gave me an "attaboy".

It's legit.  But to be safe, do not call that number back.  Just call the number you know to be legit and that's the number on the back of your card, be it Discover or anyone else.  In my case, A $1.00 charge was attempted online on my card.  It's a method thieves use to test card numbers.  It was denied and they called me.  I called them back on the number in the back of my card, and I confirmed that the charge is fraudulant.  They closed the account and overnight me new cards.  I just wish we persued those thieves more strongly and hung them by their genitals.  Despite being protected personally from any fraudulent charges, when a theft is made, we all lose.

It is a legitimate number from Discover Fraud Protection. It was an automated call asking me to wait, I did not wait BUT I called the discover number on the back of the card and IT was legitimate.

Please do not listen to the comments below saying it was not legit

Got a call from this number, checked it out on your website, called the number back and found one of the charges they were questioning was not mine so was able to have it investigated and taken off my bill. This is a legitimate call and one that has saved me over $500!

We got the same call everyone is reporting - fraud dept, call by 10 pm next day, 3 charges they want to check on.  Went to wesite to check purchases listed ourselves first and had message they could not let us access the account due to questionable charges.  It said to call Discover Card Fraud Dept at:  800.347.4996.  Since this seemed a more reliable source, that is the one we called.  We had a $1 charge we didn't recognize, and were asked if we'd authorized a Groupon charge or Sony game charges -which we hadn't.  They immediately closed the account and are sending new cards.  So I don't know for sure if the 1-800-350-4577 number is legit or really Chase Bank stealing competitors info as one post here claims.  But why take a chance - call the fraud number given on the Discovercard website!

I missed a call from this number so am looking it up. I see some ppl say it's a legitimate call from Discover. I do have a Discover card. Problem is, I never gave them my cell phone number, so why did they call that and not my home number which is in their records? Seems fishy (phishy?) to me!
