I received a call from this number saying I had possible fraud numbers on my Discover Card bill.  I, too, thought it was a scam.  I looked up my account online and it showed the charges in question and that I should say whether or not they should be accepted, which I did as they were legitimate charges. Then I called the number on the back of my credit card.  She said it was not a scam and transferred me to the fraud department.  They told me of the charges they were questioning which were the same that it showed online.  So I am quite sure this is not a scam!!

They call, there is no one on the line. I get dozens of these calls weekly. How do I stop it??

This is a FRAUD- I confirmed with the real DiscoverCard that they did NOT place this call to me!  This caller poses as someone from fraud prevention at DiscoverCard- DO NOT ANSWER.  If in doubt, call the number on the back of your card instead.

Someone replied that this was not legit but they are wrong. It was from Discover  Fraud and they are very diligent. I don't know why someone say it was fraudulent! Discover is great! !

I changed my address, had a large purchase and also tried to get set up on Stubhub to sell some Laker season tickets.  I guess that was enough for Discover to flag the account and to call me a couple times and leave me an automated message.  Call the number on the back of the card to verify and they did.  It's totally legit.  I'm glad they are doing this.

I was worried after reading some of the messages here claiming that the number is a phishing operation, but it is not.

I just flat out don't answer any number not already in my contact list - especially 800 numbers.  However, this number is a legitimate Discover fraud protection call.  I've been using my Discover a lot.  Today I had my vehicle inspected and paid with Discover no problem.  Tonight I completed my registration online and charged it to Discover.  DECLINED!  I immediately got at text from Discover asking if I authorized the transaction.  I texted Y and I was immediately texted back to try my transaction again and it went through.  A minute later I received a call from this number.  Blocked it.  Had second thoughts and called it.  Got Discover fraud protection.  I was asked for absolutely no information.  Just if I had authorized the transaction.  Yes.  I was told I could now continue using my card.  All was an automated phone call with no human.  Guess I'll put this number in my contact list.

They've called three times today, but have never left a message. I have my cell phone set up as the account's contact number, but they're calling my home number. In the past, I've received texts if Discover has flagged a transaction as possible fraud, but I haven't gotten anything like that today. Based on that, I'm thinking these calls are from someone spoofing the number.

Probably not. Usually people who get "legit" calls are not looking up the number on a site dedicated to busting scams.

Numbers and Names are routinely spoofed - The safe route is to thank the caller - and be careful what info your provide and confirm.  And then call the card company using the number on the back of your card.

Discover has info on their website about Fraud Protection and possible calls. Might be good to check that out.

Same on 4/18/22. Confirmed that I had an unauthorized charge with # on discover card. I did not confirm with discover that this is their authorized #.

- How you explain this thread was very active with posts from 2010 to about 2015, and then the posts dropped like a stone for '16, '17,? No posts in 2018, 1 post in 2019 and '20, '21 and '22?  And those posts included shill posts? If this was a legit Discover number the posts would be in a steady stream.
