    800-350-4577 is a scam.
I also got a call from 800-350-4577 which ID Unknown name. I called the number and it claimed to be the Discover Fraud line. I said I had to run and would call back in 5 minutes.
I called the number on back of a Discover Card, 1-800-347-2683 {1 800- Discover}. The Discover Card representative said they do NOT have any numbers that start with 800-347.
They recorded all the information I had on the call. They WANT everyone that receives such a call to report it to Discover so they can hunt down the jerk and prosecute him to the full extent of the law.

It is Discover fraud department.  I am a business owner and have 5 employees with cards.  My business is transportation/delivery and they have to use the cards to fill their vans up with gas daily.  I like that Discover is looking out for me but I'm getting these calls weekly and I can't always track down each driver to see who put specific dollar amounts worth of gas/diesel in their vans.  It's become a little frustrating on the frequency of the calls.

This number is legitimate.  Don't worry.  It's Discover.  I got a call from them because someone made 2 big transactions using my card and they wanted to verify it.  Be careful when using credit card!!!  It is not a scam.

My habit now is to CHECK THE NO. IMMEDIATELY on my PC when an unrecognizable no. comes in.
IF IMPORTANT, THE PARTY WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE!
I have the "NO CALL" on my phone, also. It has to be redialed often, tho. When you start getting
a LOT of unknown nos....it's time to redial the "NO CALL", for sure.
Somehow, tho, it seems these companies know what kind of no. to use to get through...so,
    it's always going to happen.

It's a good number.  I called 800-DISCOVER to verify it and they affirmed that it was valid.

Yep!  Discovercard Fraud Protection.  I explained they had called both my cell and my home, but left no message.  During the course of my conversation with the CSR she mentioned that she would "remove the HOLD that had been placed on my account".  I suggested they get the word out to at least leave a message advising the consumer of the HOLD and instructing him/her to call the number on the back of the card.

Because there were so many questions if the number is legit I wanted to confirm the number is actually Discover fraud protection. After getting the initial call I called the 1-800-DISCOVER and confirmed that fraud protection was trying to reach me and when I got a call from 1-800-350-4577 again I called them back and went through the questions successfully there.

Nope... This is actually Discover Card. I had made a large purchase a few days ago and attempted another purchase online and they wanted to confirm if it was a legitimate attempted charge since they declined it over possible fraud.

This number called me 8:05am on a Sunday morning claiming to be Discover Fraud department asking for verifying a couple transactions. As I was not fully awake and the number is not the number shown on the back of my card, I disconnected it. People can show any name on your caller ID. I would not even trust a call from "discover", not to mention "toll free caller". I login to www.discovercard.com but the number is not one of a couple numbers shown on the web site. I googled the number to see if it is a fraud. A lot of people say it is legit. So it is probably legit. Yes, just "probably" because it is easy to add 10-20 new comments to take up the first page for you to search. This kind of search can only be used to prove if it is a fraud, but not otherwise. However, with so many people think it is legit, I need to take it serious. I pull out my recent receipts and call 1-800-discover. Yes, that's the only number I should trust. The automatic system transferred me to their fraud department and connected a real person. The guy checked his computer and confirmed his department did NOT call me. So I reported the incidence to him.

They called about a very large dollar amount that was attempted on our card. Legit and didn't ask anything but if I had any other contact phone which I gave them my cell #.

If it was fraud protection, which I have gotten a call from in the past, they did not leave a voice message this time like they have in the past.  This seemingly could be fraudulent activity why not leave a message.

This was a legitimate call from Discover Fraud Protection Services to verify a charge made on my account. I called them right back. They give you 24hrs, to call then back, or they will put a hold on your account to make sure no other chargers are made.

Called that number back, and when they asked for my card number I hung up. I then called DISCOVER directly, and found out someone had been using my card online at a Starbucks several time. Discover closed my account and they are sending me a new card.  With all the transactions I make on line with that card, I don't know how DISCOVER found out about the fraudulent charges (a few $25.00) but I'm glad they're watching!

this is NOT a legit number. Someone tried to charge over $3000 on my discover card at Lowes today forty minutes after I shopped there. However whoever did this charged online and a different state. I called Discover because I did not answer and checked out number. Discover said this is NOT ONE OF THEIR NUMBERS. They have my card on fraud alert now. Don't trust anyone call the number on your card if you have any questions. This number keeps calling my home number no message.

    Sorry replies to marcatben
These calls were not from a telemarketer. MAYBE, if you don't have a Discover card, they were calling you in error, but the purpose of the call was to notify SOMEONE that they had some kind of issue with their credit card in some way. The Do Not Call List has some loopholes, since it is ONLY for telemarketing. A call from a credit card company to discuss the potential of fraud isn't telemarketing. And, a call to a wrong number won't be stopped by the DNC list.

This was, like it or not, Discover calling "someone" about some kind of problem.

If there is the tiniest doubt, calling the number on your card is the smart thing.

It's not at all clear what " I called Discover because I did not answer and checked out number." means. If you meant they called you and you did not answer .... there's a clue. Who else would have called you about your Discover card, but Discover? I could not answer when they called me, but they had valid reason, just as they did when they called you.

If you meant that you checked out the number here, and called the number on the card instead of the one in your Caller ID, that's kinda what I did.

I think they don't like to confirm that number when YOU call THEM because they want to keep it low profile so crooks won't find out about it and start spoofing it. One of the two people I talked to also denied it was a Discover number.... but later, when I was finally able to listen to the three voice mail messages, it was clearly from Discover, and the first was immediately after a botched transaction. They called before I left the store! There is no reason for them to confirm the first call had been from you. After all, it did the trick; you called them! That's all they wanted.

There is no way anyone but Discover could have put the credit card number, my name, the transaction amount -- AND my telephone number -- all together. It's a private number, kept only for companies to have in their databases. No real person ever gets it.

This was, beyond any question, a legitimate call from Discover.

Think about it. Why would someone who tried to spend $3,000 on your card call you right after they did it???? Only Discover would have any reason to do that. Discover didn't have any reason to verify the 4577 number was theirs.
