I have been getting harrasing calls too.  They just leave their personal name and who the call is for and say "it's important you call me".  I've dealt with these nasty and rude morons before and all I can suggest to all of you is......Don't answer it....let the answering machine get it and then erase the message.  If you don't have an answering machine and have caller ID......IGNORE IT.  Once you pick up the phone and talk to someone, they'll harrass you with more calls, threaten you, and even revert to name calling.

It's not worth the time to spend with them.  Besides, I have better things to do with my time (like clean the toilet).  If you ignore them, they will eventually stop calling.

    It worked for me.

I had a phone line for about 4 years that was only hooked up to our alarm system. I recently started using it as an office line and started getting calls from this number looking for a specific person I had never heard of (Chris Rabern). The automated system would present 3 prompts: "Press 1 if you are this person, 2 if they are not there, 3 if they do not live there". I selected "3" which then states "Please hold while we route you to a live agent to resolve this issue" but every time it sent me to a busy signal (I did this about 4 times).

After searching on my online phone account website, I could not find who was calling (I did not have Caller ID) I called my phone company and asked how to review my call history. I am using Google Voice to make all my calls, so there would only be one number listed on my incoming calls list. However, it turns out it takes a court subpoena to see your call logs on a landline. So, I added Caller ID. I also explained the situation to the phone rep, and they suggested selecting "1" to get to an agent, then explain they have the wrong number.

They called the next day, and I did this. As soon as I select '1" within seconds some answered "Hello Chris." I explain the situation, and as people have said here, they really tried to control the conversation, but I did not let them. They tried asking for my information, but I told them it was a business line and not to call again. They said OK, and that was it.

The next day the same number called again. I selected "1" again and went off. The woman this time said there was no record of me having told anybody it was a wrong number, and wanted my information again, but I did not give it. I called my phone company again to ask about call blocking. However, turns out you cannot block 800 numbers ... The rep was nice enough that she looked up the history of the phone number and confirmed there was a "Chris Rabern" that had this phone number 5 years ago. So it seems they may be a legitimate collection agency. It is possible they have multiple clients that wanted this person, so by eliminating one (and confirming they talked to someone) maybe they had a full list of collection that this "Chris Rabern" has.

In any case, the only way to resolve this was to change my number. I specifically asked for a new number that has not been used by anyone, and my phone company did that. I don't see another solution unless you want to deal with bothersome calls that are not intended for you. For me simply ignoring them isn't an option as I am using this line for business. It was causing serious interruptions to my workday and causing anxiety when my phone rang.

Got the call that others have described below;  A computer voice asking for a very poorly pronounced name, about "personal business".  This was on my "Magic Jack" internet phone line, which is only a week old, so maybe we should start tracking how often this call happens to Magic Jack users, as there could be a trend?

Received a voice recording from Charles but said to call and no other info. I called and talked to a man named Steve who knew the number I was calling from even tho the number is unlisted. He was calling from a collection agency for sprint. i told him I have only been with verizon. We chatted about last four of social and he said he would remove my number. I mentioned I was on the Do Not Call registry and he said it didn't matter. I explained that it did. If they call again I will report him

Have received 5 more calls from this number in two days. It goes to voicemail, which I have to call on my prepaid cell just to delete, each time a computerized voice asks for "Robert Sandoval." If this has been going on since at least 2008, and people are reporting to FCC, wth are they doing about it???

Received two more calls today. Second one came minutes ago, just after 9 pm. So fed up, returned call to tell them to STOP CALLING (still asking in computerized voice for "Robert Sandoval," who is NOT ME), and got a recording saying "we are currently not available to take your call..." THEY JUST CALLED ME!!!

I hope TracFone can change my number on Monday.

A company called Diversified Adjustment Services keeps calling (Mr Jeff Nocholas) posing as a debt collection agency and accusing us of having an amount of $600 + owed on a Sprint account bill that has been cancelled years ago and threatening to report us to the Credit Bureau if we don't pay. When we checked with sprint on this account, we were told there was nothing outstanding. They called back again today and when I told them what sprint said, they say that sprint won't have these details and only they do! VERY STRANGE!!!! They also want us to make the payment via phone with our credit cards.....yeah! Like we are real stupid to make a payment without any supporting documents. Judging from the many reports on this site, looks like they are trying to scam people into money and cause people to have bad credit scores so they can't purchase homes, property etc. I can't imgaine companies like these exist and no legal action has been taken against such people. We will proceed to file a law suit against them if they continue to harass us as we pay ALL our bills on time and don't owe any monies to anyone!

This number has been left on the answering machine at my parents' for my brother's ex-wife.  I called them back & explained the situation.  The customer service rep. was super nice and hopefully the calls will end.  If not, you can be sure that I'll be contacting someone & filing a complaint for harassment.
