scam hang up

This a Federal level felony call. Falsely represeent selves as Medicare. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. if you are worried it may be legit as some PEOPLE are, tell them to communicate by mail. DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR NAME OR ADDRESS.

I just received a call from "Carla" who sounded perhaps from India.  She stated she was from Medicare and verifying my information as I no longer had to pay for any of my medication or appointments.  This confused me as I have a Medicare Advantage plan thru a company.  She had information about me but I grew skeptical when she started asking me to verify my Medicare card number.  I explained my partner picks up all my medication and is my Power of Attorney so carries all this information for me, she pressed me for my old Medicare card number (which is my SS #).  I have Legitimate memory problems so I don't remember some information clearly and she seemed peeved when I couldn't produce my ss# or my date of birth.  I asked why she didn't already have this information and she said she did but was just trying to verify what the file said.  She then proceeded to give me what she said my dob was (it was wrong) and what she said my ss# was (wrong again).  I told her my partner was not available to verify the information as right or wrong so she would have to call back when they would be available and she gave me the number 800-633-4227.  This has to be a scam.  Too weird not to be.  Actually scary since she knew my name, address, etc.  How does this happen?  And who is watching out for us?

My senior mother just got a call from this number, a guy from India claiming to be from Medicare.  He told her he was going to send her a back brace for pain and told her he just needed to "verify" her information.  He said he had her name, address, and social security number and just needed her to verify it, which she did.  Ugh.....I then took the phone and talked to him and gave him the runaround about Medicare not calling or asking for personal information etc. etc.   Total scam and despicable that they take advantage of vulnerable seniors!

Received 3 calls yesterday, 4 today, claiming someone was using my Medicare card and that my card had been deactivated.  Needed my card info to issue a new card.  When I started asking questions and called them scammers, they threatened to sue me for talking to a government agent like that.  I said go ahead and hung up.

caller: U.S. Government, very thick accent wanting to speak to 'Reechard", hung up when I said he can't come to the phone. This has been a daily call this week.

Just got call from this number. Caller ID said 800Medicare. I looked up number and it did, indeed, say it was Medicare. I answered and silence. It could be someone cloning the number. Why would Medicare call me on an 800 number. Send me a letter!!

Got a call from 800-633-4227.  Male voice with heavy Indian accent said he wanted to upgrade my Medicare Card.
He asked my name, and I gave him a false name - he argued that that was not my name and preceded to tell me my correct name which I said was not correct. He asked for my Medicare number which I did not give him.  I spoofed him along for a few minutes and asked for his phone number, I said that I would call him back.  With that he hung up the call.

I got the 800-633-4227 today at 9:52 a.m.  I didn't answer the call; instead, I let it ring so that VoiceMail would pick up a message.  However, no message was left.  The callerID showed MEDICARE on my headset display.

Trying to verify medicare info

Same as previous posts. Called a couple weeks ago ~ 7:00 PM, heavy accent - hung up when I kept asking him to repeat his name. Called again today - again heavy accent - wanting to "verify information."  I asked him what country he was calling from & he hung up.

I called Medicare to attempt to report the spoofing to them - after fighting my way through the phone tree, got Medicare rep who didn't know what spoofing was & couldn't understand that someone else was "using" their phone # … Told him I was blocking the number. He didn't like that...

Received call - had my name, address, and then asked to validate my new Medicare number.  I said I don't have it.  Foreign speaking caller said he needed it ASAP and would call back in an hour.  He needed it today to validate Medicare. Said I won't have it.  Call back later, the next day and again today, a week later.  Blocked number.

Scam artists may try to steal your personal information by calling you and asking for your current Medicare Number to get your new Medicare card.
Medicare will never call uninvited and ask you to give personal information or money to get your new Medicare Number or card. Learn what to do if you get a suspicious call like this.

Remember: Your new Medicare card will automatically come to you in the mail. You don’t need to do anything, as long as your address is up-to-date with the Social Security Administration. If you need to update or verify your address, visit your My Social Security account.

CID Medicare.  Played hello hello game back and forth.  Asked where caller was- Florida.  He said I had back pain.  I said he was a scam.  Hung up.

Scam!!  Fraudulently using Medicare phone # to get you to give personal information BEWARE!

Received call from 800-633-4227-Medicare. No answer to my hello.

Caller ID said the same number.  The phone number given is the real phone number for Medicare.  Woman, Jamaican accent, said her name was Lucy Jordan, ID number GS00195.  Same stuff, asking questions about pain, braces, what they can do.  My wife & I played along, knowing it was a scam.  I said, "We have to be careful, lots of scammers out there."  She said, "You have nothing to worry about, I am from Medicare & work for the US Government."  After 10 to 15 minutes, she wanted to "verify" my wife's Medicare number.  I said we wanted to verify her information. So, she said, "You give me your Medicare number, I'll give you my information."   She hung up when she knew we were on to her... did keep her occupied for close to 20 minutes total.

Recieved call tonight , India Man said he is with Medicare , asked if i had new SS card I told him yes he thnd hung up.en asked for my name said he needed to activate my card, I told him he called me he should know my name. He hung up called right back and said my name. Said he needs to activate my card, I told him no

I have received seven calls from this number in the past three days. Location is listed as “unknown.”
