- GayeGThe caller said his name was Biju B calling from Microsoft, began to tell me ,he had heard about my buying a dell computer from HSN and continued to say . They were informed the online computer tech people by the name of VTech was a scam company and yes indeed they were . How HSN could set up hundred of there customers with this company who I allowed remotely to start my computer up. Had all along been a scam company it is beyond me how a huge company like HSN didnt do there homework about this company is beyond me and angers me . So I find out later they started to plant malware in my computer from day one and also planted there own password hacked into my bank account two times . I had to set up a new account number with my bank. I contacted the Florida's Attorney general who closed them down. HSN refuses to exchange the computer there answer to me .Is they are very sorry this happened and our actively looking for another tech company do you really think I will trust anyone they get. There refusal to take any blame in this matter angers me beyond beleif. I digress from the phone call from microsoft he tells me he will give me a good deal on a package called assure for 154.00 dollars so I took it later I find out they were hackers as well and planted more malware in my computer. I take it to someone local ,best buy there geek squad looked at it and could not beleive what they had done it costed me 100.00 hundred dollars and another 200.00 hundred dollars to get there software. A big price to pay when you trust a company like HSN so be careful of what you buy .

After reading many messages concerning 800-642-7676 I was struck by the obvious, By that I mean oobvious to me.
I now get only 5 or 6 of these calls a year, rather than 5 or 6 a week by usong an apptoach found on a long forgotten US Gov FCC web page.
#1 Consider not placing your telephone muber on the Do Not Call list. Scammers use this list as a ready source of valid numbets and potential victims. ., Better to fly under the radar than put all your marbles in a defense that is regarded as outgunned, undermanned, and underpaid.
#2 Many cell. phone apps are available that will block calls using a variety of methods. The first product selected for testing
works very well for me although with flexibility comes complexity. My advice- get it setup and don't mess with it.,
Accept the fact that some calls you are expecting, including family, will get trapped.ny mistake. Until your app is fine tuned send them all to voice mail.
#3 This was the hard one for me but perhaps. not difficullt for you.
Add to or change your voice mail with something such as thisl
"unknow, restricted or otherwise anonymous '6 6', XT l0calls will be deleted unheard.
It is to be hoped that using these tools as they were intended will help you.- Caller: 800-642-7676

- Dan| 1 replyI called 800-642-7676 s recommended by a worker at Best Buy/Geek Squad. They did solve the problem I had at the time, taking over two hours. But then they asked If I wanted to make a one-time payment of $599.99 for permanent security. I hesitated but agreed. Then I searched the # above and found all these complaints above for 800-642-7676. So I asked my financial institution to cancel the payment and refund the money. I took records to the bank (including samples of two testimonies above) explaining the circumstance and filled out their form.
Then a worker with a foreign accent called me from 313-426-2903 (Detroit area) asking if I got a refund, which I did. But he insisted on needing the Reference # (17 characters!!!) causing more complications so he can know that my complaint has been cancelled. After over two months, the matter appears solved. The bank--and myself--got the refund.- Caller: A subcontractor for Best Buy/Geek Squad
- JackReacher replies to DanYeah, but the bigger problem would be that you let them into your computer and they now have all your information, bank accounts, user names and passwords, contacts, etc. I find it hard to believe that Geek Squad would tell you to go somewhere else to get your computer fixed.
- JoelKeep getting calls from this number tell me my computer was hacked and is sending out viruses from my email address.
- Caller: said they were from windows
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Kristin replies to rosredThis number is Microsoft but I suspect this is not the number he called you from. Makes sense for scammers to give a valid Microsoft number so that the next time they call, you think they truly are Microsoft. **Microsoft will NEVER call you unless it is to follow-up on a customer service call you made.**
- JeffReceived call from this number (Microsoft, allegedly) while away from home Guy said someone in Mexico using my e-address illegally He didn't say much else (that I could understand!) Told him I would be home in an hour- he said that he would call me back- this nearly two hours ago Grateful this forum was found before he did anything else

- RichardI get these many times a day, don't answer. Our elected officials do countless useless things that don't help us, why can't they for once find a way to fix a real problem that is a pain in the butt for everyone, like the constant harassing, unwanted phone calls we all get every day? Yeah. Rhetorical question obviously.
