- JasonAlthough non-profits are exempt from the DNC list, they are NOT exempt from the TCPA. This law prohibits autodialers calling cell phones for ANY REASON! If they are calling your cell phone and hanging up, this is against the law, and you can recover significant damages from them. Up to $1500 per call. Best of all, the lawsuits can be filed in your local small claims court. In fact, you can file a lawsuit for each individual call as each one is a separate violation. The FCC also holds the company hiring them legally responsible for TCPA violations. Just do an internet search for "TCPA cell phone violations", and you will find all sorts of good information on how to proceed.
The only way you are going to be able to stop a company like this is to make it hurt them financially. Do the research, file a lawsuit, and collect. They are calling me too, and I will be filing against them on Monday.- Caller: Public Interest Communciations

- Bob replies to Rev. Dr.What a stupid reply. Some people can't block calls. Others can only block a limited number of callers. If your really are a "Rev. Doc" you should be ashamed of yourself.
- J. BeckerWhy do these no-account phone freaks call me when I am on any and all no calls lists available to mankind?! They are a bother, especially to an elderly ill person who must struggle to get to the phone. They need to be prohibited from calling anyone on a no-call list. I have no interest in them or what they are selling or trying to sell. Just stop it!
- Caller: Pub intret company
- JD replies to Rev. Dr.I have this number blocked.. but it comes through anyway. Turns out that Verizon call block ONLY WORKS ON NUMBERS INSIDE YOUR LOCAL CALLING AREA!!!
Pass it on, and write to Verizon if you use them!! - KatieIt really is a nonprofit agency and one you've donated to nonetheless. Nonprofits like Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and the likes hire them to call their donors for fundraising. It's a cheaper and more effective way to get the work done. I know because I worked there in college.
They can call even when you're not on the Do Not Call List because it's nonprofit and the people they call have donated previously, which nullifies that part of the law. They may call you back again even after a list removal for a DIFFERENT organization. The only way to stop it is to keep telling them to "take me off your list." Some callers will remove you if you don't say those exact words, but we were told the word "list" is the only legally binding factor. That's all you need to say and then just hang up. If you don't answer or just hang right up they'll keep calling. Every day up to twice a day. So just say the words and you'll be off the list.
As for no answer it might be the calling system/auto dialer. It's computerized and sometimes it flukes.- Call type: Non-profit organization
- sprint customer replies to Rev. Dr.Well I would love to but Sprint doesn't have that option. Pisses me off
- friendly jthe call is dead when you pick up because the call is originated by an autodial device that routes the call to a human once the call is answered by a non-answering device. stay on the call until a human patches in if you'd like to speak to a human, hear the pitch, or ask for their number so you can return the call while THEY'RE eating dinner. :)

- MLWe donate to charities via mail and never via the phone. Most companies are very curtious in this regard but not Publin Interest Co. I have asked them nicely to take us off the list and informed them we donot donate via phone calls, just via mail only. Nothing has worked so we blocked them using *60 on Comcast.

- jane miami beachSo many times while I am cooking dinner, meditating, or otherwise busy, I stop what I am doing to answer the phone and no one is there! Then when I call back the number, I get a recording to leave my number to be removed from their list. So, I do, very slowly and carefully and then the next morning I get the same stupid hang up call! Please have them stop

- sedwinWe too continuously receive calls from this number despite requesting to be on the "do not call list" several times and they're not the only ones. We just have to ignore it since you can only block three numbers now and we have reached that limit. Unfortunately, the laws that used to prevent abusive calls from corporations and non-profits have changed and are now allowed because as with everything else in this country although the overwhelming majority of citizens DON'T want them to continue (that's called democracy) our "representatives" don't actually represent us, the citizens anymore and instead just represent those few extremely rich who literally pay them in a multitude of ways. Our politicians have made it legal however for them and their family members to accept these bribes from these companies and so we no longer have a functioning democracy. Buy local, buy from small mom & pop shops and boycott multi-national corps as much as possible until THEY get OUR message.
