Though many previous writers have said the call is from CitiBank, and some from AT&T, the automated voice tells me it's from Associated Bank.  I do not even have a credit card through them!  Obviously this number is not consistant and an annoyance to all.  They even knew my name and asked me to verify it (I did not).  I hung up to reseach, which is why I'm here.  Please use cation when answering this number, I am still looking into things... as I'm sure you are too.

I call forward numbers like these back to the origin.  Must be a great conversation to listen to, the 2 answering machines.  Well hope this assists others and ties up 2 of their lines for a while...

this 816-420-1002 called 4 times 5-20-09 beginning at 8:08am EDT without leaving a message; caller ID also indicated Gladstone MO. a 5th call 1t 19:11pm left a message "Citi bank calling - to call 800-298-6359 with personal key code" to retrieve information from them. they really have a lot of gall to bug a person
with 5 calls within less than a 12 hour timeframe. they can take their business and shove it south of the border!!!

816-420-1002, non stop phone calls and they keep asking for sensitive credit card information. I called Citicards and its not them.

I answerred the call and they are trying to get you to use those checks they send in the mail.  They are offering a zero interest check and will write a check now for anything you want.  Of course you have to pay the handeling fees and also the monthly fees until you pay off the entire card debt.  It's added onto your credit card debt and if you don't pay the entire debt off within a time period you'll get hit with a one time interest fee for the entire amount for the entire time you carried this debt.  It will add up to hundreds of dollars....This is no different than buying furniture or appliances on credit with no interest until a specific date.  If it's not paid in full on that date, you pay all the interest.

I keep getting calls from this number over and over and over again. I am never late but believe I may have inadvertenly given them personal information last time they called last month.

I tried calling them back and after pushing several buttons was hung up on.

    Folks.
This number is an automated notification from Citibank.
The autodialer attempts to connect with you and route you to an agent looking to get you to pay your minimum payment which is past due.

It's on a scheduled autodialing system which keeps trying to connect until the payment is posted.

If you do have a credit card, call the number on the back of your card.

If you don't have a Citibank credit card, it is, of course possible that a phone spammer is spoofing the number.

I would advise to NEVER have a conversation with an agent over this line. Hang up and call the number you know from your card that you dial from your phone.

I have complained to Citibank that this process of theirs -- to keep calling and not leaving a message -- is quite rude and makes people uncomfortable. I haven't yet been able to reach anyone that can do anything to reconsider this annoying practice. I'm sure they have legal advice to behave this way, but it still sucks.

Hope this puts some of you at ease.

I would also agree with the above to not giving sensitive info to a any automated number calling.  That being said, I received missed calls from the number, eventually answered.  I got a notification that it was Citibank but the call dropped.  I called Citibank and I did indeed have a late payment that I didn't realize.  So the number is legit.

I've accidentally had late payments to Citibank -- and they will leave a message when they call to see what's happening.  (Besides which, when you call them back, they don't give you a run-around like some posters seem to have encountered.)  This number has been calling regularly on a daily basis and leaving no message, and since I am not late on any of my citi accounts, I doubt it's them.  I'm assuming a scam?

I need the FBI to investigate this bogus scam phone # 816-420-1002.  I never responded to the call but they keep calling to my cell phone and used up my minutes.   I want the authority to catch this bandit and put them in jail.

I see the last post about this number was in 2007. Well.. Rest assured its still being used here in later parts of 2010. I don't remember the company using it, but I've been getting calls left & right from this number (at-least 2 x daily). The first time they called, I asked them nicely "Not interested.. & to remove me from the call list". The calls became more frequent after that.

I did get them to stop calling, although it took a little patients on my part. I added them to my contact list, giving them the name "Don't Answer This Call", & gave them a distinct ring. From then on, when they called, I'd barely open my cell phone enough to answer the call, & then shut it again. I think what happens over time... the computer believes somethings wrong with your line, & removes you from the list. I've tried it with another telemarketer & it worked for them also.

Another topic of concern after reading the other comments... I don't have a citi-bank card.

This is CitiCards customer harassment number.
I was 3 weeks late with a $20 payment (after 15 years of never missing a single anything!) and I received 51, yes that is 51 calls from this number of a period of 1 week.
I simply blocked the number with my smart phone and then reviewed the blocked call log.
    51 calls.
    $20.
    Yep!

Not as dumb as they hope replies to called citibank
This is absolutely not a legitimate call.  I called the number and the first things the very nice lady asked for was my Social Security Number.  These are not scammers, they're straight identify thieves.  Do not return these phone calls.

THIS IS A SCAM. Received call from number, no message--just please call. Called Citi, they had no record of any call from their organization. They had no reason to call, all accounts current, no sales/promotions, nothing. Had received call two months ago from this number and told them that if they call one more time I would turn them over to the FCC. No more calls to that number, now they have started on a new number.
