I've just had one of these messages & thought it was a scam so thank you all for your postings. I've just send a 'STOP' text, but heard nothing back .... yet! Am I understanding correctly though - they charge you even for that first one they send offering the 5 free lines?? I agree with a previous posting - this needs to be reported - but who to? Is it Vodafone or the regulator, and how do I go about it? Thanks in advance everyone! :-)

I have had this several times it started with another scam I didn't subscribe to luckily Vodaphone refunded some of my money, now this 85200 has started. I have text them to stop and got the same messages back as everyone had.  No doubt I am going to be charged, I have blocked the number on my phone. I am never going to put my phone number on anything on the internet again and I would advise everyone not to.,

Having had a series of unwanted sales messages from 85200 (lottery tickets) I telephoned my network provider Vodaphone. They werent very helpful, they gave me a number to call to get them stopped, when I rung the number I was presented with automated system which did nothing. I called Vodaphone back, they gave me the name of the company (Wireless information networks) I did a google search on the company and found a website, I found the number for their headoffice (+44 (0)1494 750 500) which I called, I spoke to them and they said they would put an end to the messages.

    THIS WORKS!

This worked for me, apparently they are sending me a cheque, they didn't quibble it, they clearly know they are wrong but sadly it remains profitable because most people don't bother jumping through hoops to get their money back or figure out how.

Despicable, I am complaining to PhonepayPlus the regulator and if I don't see my cheque I will be taking legal action.

    Thanks Jack!

Joined the lottobytext 'trial'. It said freemsg and sent 2 lots of 5 free lines for sat and wed lotto and 5 free lines for euromillions. Then got freemsg informing me of claim numbers for the lottery days already gone and next weeks claim numbers. I was getting excited to see I had 3 numbers in 11/08 lotto draw so went on the website to claim. This was when I read all about everybody being ripped off and that its a scam! Feel stupid, but obviously not on my own am I? Sent text STOP to 85200, who then proceeded to send me a message telling me of the special offer of 3 lines per month for Euromillions for the 'special price' of £1.50! My balance after all these 'FREE MESSAGES', has gone down by £8! Not a lot by some peoples loss, but a loss all the same! Keeping my eye on it now, to see if any more 'deductions' come into play. If necessary I will change my mobile number!

I'm with o2 simplicity & have only been with them 2 or 3 vmonths & I get loads of this crap.
Was with carphone warehouse for years before (using o2) & no problems.
Contacted o2 on line & basically they said it was my fault & could't help because they can't block numbers.
    1. I rarely use my phone & only ring known friends & family.
    2. I suggest that, possibly. o2 (& others) relish the idea of scams because they make money out of the con trick & (though I hate to suggest it) are happy if your details inadvertantly???? fall into wrong or dubious hands.
Trouble is they sre all sleazy & tteat all punters as stupid
