Automated caller, asks me to wait a minute, a person comes on and leaves a message to call back without identifying themselves, so I ignore the call and I suggest you do too.

They had part of my name incorrectly, when leaving a message presented themselves as Portfolio Management, but when I called back declined to identify who they are. She was trying to extraxt my SIN number. So just ignore them and don't tell them anything about yourself. They must be associated with ID theft rings.

Called numerous times on my cell phone but i never picked up.  Voicemail messages were always silent if left one.  First time a live person left me a message asking for "Christina Nguyen" with a reference no.  and asked to call back "Chuck".  Called this number back and asked for "Chuck".  The person on the other line asked for an extension which "Chuck" did not provide.  Told them i was not the person they are looking for. Provided them with the reference no. and they claim that they will take my number off.

Called me today, had the name right and address but did not have the right sin#. I believe the screw up is occurring at equafax.  They have given my name and address out to collection agency's instead of the right one for the person they are looking for.

    TorontoGirl
A guy from this number called asking for me.  I answered and told him that TorontoGirl (me) wasn't home (I was suspicious to who this guy was).  He became aggressive and wanted to know how he can reach me and what time I would be home.
He wouldn't tell me what this was in reference to.

Upon answering, an automated voice asked me to wait on the line.

    Responsibility
Have you ever thought that there is a reason why you are being called, pull your credit report that might help, pay your debt, if you had paid your bills we wouldn't need to be calling you, be responsible and take ownership of your debt. Just a thought when you were requested your personal information to get a credit card, visa or any other type of credit you were not bothered , so why are you bothered now that someone is calling you to clear up the debt you accrued. Why be upset to pay off money you happily spent.

im pretty sure this company has called a few times, looking for myself and others (names ive never heard of).

today they played an interesting game with my husband, pretending to want to speak to me about a person named "Rose Ranger" who apparently gave my name as a reference for a job. I dont know anyone with that last name, or anyone named Rose for that matter.

these [***] are sneaky.. i know for a fact i have no outstanding loans (believe me, ive had real ones and dealt with them all accordingly) so there is no purpose in contacting me. regardless, i wont be picking up again.

    In response to "responsibility"

Yes, I do believe there is a reason that you are calling, however I don't believe you are calling for the right reason. See, as you so eloquently explained it you don't "need" to be calling us. See, PMC made it their job to acquire old debt, some of which I believe to be fictitious in nature. By doing this, you "chose" to become involved with us and to contact us. So by this logic I can "choose" not to answer your calls and "choose" to block them and if PMC persists to contact me, well then, I might "choose" to get legal council. So you see, in the end it's all about choices. So you see I would gladly take care of my spending, just not through a third party private corporation. I would rather be contacted by the company to which debt is owed. Funny, if they clearly didn't think it was important enough to contact me, why would you?

I received a call from the company (which I have never heard of).  I owe no money (which I am certain of).  They mentioned a name of a person that I have heard of, and who owes money to them.  I am very uncomfortable with the whole situation and wish that I never answered.  I am not sure what my choices are regarding this entire situation, although I don't want it to reflect poorly on me.

I just received a call from this number.  The voice message asked for a Jeffrey with my correct last name.  They said to call Chris back at the number.  They gave me a reference number to quote and said they require a call within 48 hours.  I tried calling the number back but it continues to be busy.

Maybe if you answered the phone and stop avoiding the calls you would have some sort of conclusion.  Instead of posting nasty comments about people that are doing their job so that they can pay their bills on time, unlike you low lifes you run away from your mistakes!

    guess me
i have been receaving those phone calls for a while now. I called back and asked why they have been calling, it turns out they were looking for a woman with the same last name, and thought i might be related to her. She has a very a large outstaning credit loan and they've been trying to reach her. However, reading the poseted comments above, i would be causious when speaking to the company.I had no problems, but u can never be too sure. hope this helped

For those people who insist that it's wrong to avoid these callers or to blame them because they're just doing their jobs, let me point out one thing.  While I understand that in some cases collection agencies are calling for legitimate reasons, if you notice everyone who's come here to complain about them is saying: they didn't have the right name, or they're trying to get important information (SIN) over the phone.  No matter who these people are, you should NOT give out your SIN number or other private information over the phone.  People with legitimate business will identify themselves clearly and will also have the right information.  I refuse to answer to some business that tries to get money or information out of me by shady means, any legitimate business knows that and they avoid using these methods.

I have been called by this number 4 times now and an automated voice says "Please Hold" repeatedly and someone will come on the line and have gotten the same call. So in the end it's two random people talking to each other with no purpose other than a machine called us both. So I think in my case at least it's safe to say it has nothing to do with how my credit is.
