- complainthas anyone ever stopped them from calling?
should i call them back and clear things up?
or will they eventually give up - BobDon't bother trying to clear things up, they won't stop calling. They started calling me about a year ago and leaving messages on my machine about an important business matter for some guy I never heard of. One time I actually talked to a live person (don't remember if I called them back, or if a live person actually called me).
I explained that yes, this is the phone number they think it is, and no, I have no idea who this person is and please stop calling. They said they were sorry to bother me they'll remove my number from their system. But the calls never stopped, I still get about 5 calls a week. I get a messages "regarding an important business matter" for all kinds of different people. Other times I get "Please hold" over and over again. Other times just silence.
But basically, my point is that trying to clear this up is a waste of time, they'll just keep harassing you. They don't care that you're not the person they're looking for, they'll keep harassing you just for fun.
Oh... and for the scumbags from this company that actually posted on this board, I have a question. You guys are trying to pretend that you're on the moral high ground because you are chasing bad debts. But how many thousands of innocent people do you harass every day just to get the $2 someone owes you from 20 years ago? Get over it, and stop annoying people that have nothing to do with it. - Not who they calledThese PMS or PMG folks are just the lowest forms of life around. Their tactics have nothing to do with legitimate collection of legitimate debts.
I know to an absolute certainty that there is no such person as they asked for when they called me. I have a surname for which there is only one familly in Canada with the name and there isn't one single member with the first name that they asked for. It was a female form of my first name.
I also know that they are simply using the Bell Canada data base because I have recieved two calls back to back minutes apart and the second number that they called was my fax machine. There is no way for that to happen unless they were simply using the Bell data base.
Check the London Ontario BBB website and you will find that these sluggs are not members of the BBB. Any legitimate collection agency will be a member of the BBB.
There just isn't much you can do other than ignore these subhuman forms of life.
It is really interesting that there have been abusive comments here from their employees. If they weren't a scam then they wouldn't have the time or interest in responding here. - Collectorif you owe a bill, why not just pay it?-
All these people out here whining- pay your bills and your phone will be silenced!
If you are not the intended recipient of the phone call, relax- it's a PHONE CALL...not a gun at your head! Pick up the phone, tell them it is not the right number and they will take care of it (if it actually IS a wrong number, not just another whiner trying to evade their debt))
WAY too many people on here complaining that their phone is ringing.. but won't answer it...all because it's a toll free number- eeeks... I would shake in my boots too it I owed money and didn't recognize the toll free number calling me...sheesh-
See, I pay my bills and answer the phone without hesitation. (may be something to think about?)- if it's a telemarketer, I choose whether or not to entertain them and let them do their job - that is my choice- there IS a hand up button on the phone, afterall!
more food for thought:
Is it honourable to borrow money and not pay it back? Is it a mortal crime to be employed within in a profession where you collect this money that was willfully stolen?
Just thought I'd check. - laughin to the bankresponse to :"Screw You Lowlife Phone Jockeys"
have another Aquavelva shooter there fella...lol it's financially responsible individuals such as yourself who cause your family, friends, neighbours, past employers etc etc grief when gainfully employed individuals call trying to reach you in order to (uselessly in this case) get you to do the honourable thing- PAY YOUR BILLS! - Wow nice spelling btw- admirable, in fact...lol
oh- and credit proof= loser.... have nothing, never will. Good luck with that! - Trust No ONE, especially these dip [***]Wrong name, no information.....it's a scam. Never reply to these calls. Inform the CRTC immediately! http://www.crtc.gc.ca/
- BeBewell...i got this call many times per days..makes me crazy..so, I went to the police station for report today .....
- JohnWhole bunch of judgmental people on this site, if you don't have an answer to the question being asked, i believe not writing anything is in order. Do you know how many people receive calls that have no dealings with the company at all? I was been called a few times and it was for someone who had my number like 2 years ago. I told them its the wrong number every time, but their system keeps redialing my number. I am sure one of you high and mighty judgmental people will suggest that i pay someone else's bill just to stop these calls. Like i said stop judging people and only respond if you have something to contribute, take time out to fix the skeletons in your own cupboards rather than concentrating on someone else's.
- collectorIf you don't owe the money, answer the phone, be forthright and honest- tell them it's a wrong number and ask to be placed on the do not call list-
Does anyone honestly think it is financially advantageous for a company to be wasting time calling someone other than the person they are seeking?
If you don't owe the money, where's the harm in confirming partial personal information in order to confirm same?
There is your nutshell solution, John. Logic. Plain and simple.
If you DO owe the money, then pay your bills and stop complaining all over the web looking for a way to evade your debts! - SharpAnyone working for a debt collection agency has to be a low life. These scum prey on people regardless of whether they owe money or not. Why dont you get a real job? Hu?

- Sharph? The scumbags calling us from this number were after information on our 78-year old tenant who has paid her rent faithfully for 10 years. So they called us to get to her. They were trying to extract $250 out of her for a scummy gas utility company that continued to bill her for 5 months AFTER she changed service providers. These are the scum of the earth.

- Not "Maggie"I've been receiving calls from this number saying they were from Active Capital for the last few weeks asking for a "Maggie" X (my last name). My first initial in "M", and I am a man, so i figured this was a telemarketer calling with wrong info. Then I found this site, and decided to call the number. I have a great credit rating and pay my bills, so this kind of upset me. It is indeed a collection agency. The person who I spoke to was polite, but didn't give me direct answers. I don't blame her for being vague, because poeple are trying to avoid this company. I gave her my reference number and explained that I was the only one who lived here, and she assured me that they were looking for someone else, and that she would remove my name from the call list. I'm listed in the phone book as "M". X, so I assume they were trying to track this Maggie girl down.

- Jason DNo. This is not a legitimate company.
They just called my cellphone at 10:28 today. I am an 18 year old student with absolutely no debt, I haven't borrowed money. ever.
It was an automated message that said "This is not a telemarketing...etc, then hung up right away."
This is not the proper way to do business. Those who say its "just a phone call." obviously have never faced a situation where the phone line might be needed in a emergency.
All the claims that people have made about the company collecting debt seem to be made by those who are working for the company itself.
Why would they call my cell phone to collect money that I never borrowed?
This is very intrusive and those who receive calls should either not pick up, or ask for your number to be removed if there is a person on the other line, not an automated message. - sinnedplease, please ignore this number. They are trying to collect the difference that I actually owed and the sum that was agreed between the credit card co and myself.
Continue to spread the word that no information is to given over the phone.- Caller: unknown
- Also annoyedI got a call on my answering machine with thsi number today... they were actually calling to talk to someone with a different name from my husband but same last name. I called back and I got a man, I told him I was given an extension to call of some woman named Sharon.. and he woudln't put me through, I told him they must have had the wrong number becuase that was not my husbands name.
I hope that's the end of it. We don't owe any money to anyone.. so it they are in collections they have the WRONG people. - check your factsin 1989 i got a dui which was paid the following year. in 2004 these rat basterds started calling me for the fine..i told them it was paid like15 years ago ,, they told me to prove it , in which i responded i have my licence back so get bent. they threatened to take mme to court which i replied go ahead ,2 weeks later i got a letter from them saying they would take 55% of the fine and call it even. i gnored it now about 3 times a week they call me diguised as financial groups wanting to discuss my rsps etc lmao ,, the newest one is they identified themselves as Magnus Capital a high profile agency from usa get a life you retarde basterds

IF YOU WOULD HAVE PAID YOUR BILL INITIALLY YOU WOULODN"T BE SITTING IN COLLECTIONS BEING CONTACTED BY THIRD PARTY YOU DUMB ASS USE YOUR BRAIN WHATEVER CHOICE YOU MAKE OBIOUSLY IS NOT A SMART ONE - THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR SENT YOU TO COLLECTIONS FOR DEFAULTING ON PAYMENTS - APPARENTLY YOU WERE NOT EDUCATED WELL ENOUGH - not the person you are looking forI google everything but never googled phone numbers of repeat callers until now. We keep getting calls asking for my husband's ex-wife regarding a "business matter" Calls on our answering service that say "Please hold" repeatedly and messages with a file number reference. I even answered a call and tried to explain that the person does not live here too and the caller started to be very rude and threatening towards me saying that because I answered the phone I must be the person they are looking for. Wanted me to send copies of my ID to prove it. Are they crazy? Even if I did I now have my husband's last name. Would they believe I am not she? We now do not answer any calls unless we know the caller and wish to speak with them.
My husband separated and divorced his ex wife over 12 years ago. He and I met, married, and moved into our home 8 years ago. New phone number, new address, new life. He is not responsible for her debts and neither am I.
From what others say here it seems this company will never stop phoning us. I understand they want to collect money owed and I respect that. We aren't the ones who owe the money. We even told the caller this. Maybe it is time to change our phone number to stop these calls. - Very AnnoyedEverything mentioned above is same that has been occuring to me and like everyone else have no clue why.
