- Confused..? Scam or not?I keep receiving phone calls from phone number 1-866-387-8751. This has been happening I would say every second day for about a month now. The days they do call they call 2-3 times per day. I have never answered and then today I actually received a voicemail from "Jordon" stating this was an urgent matter and I need to get back to him by 2pm April 12, 2013 (so tomorrow) or else drastic measures will be taken.
I have no idea why I have been getting these calls (I have never been told in a voicemail or anything). Reading through the treads I am seeing a lot of "TELUS Collections". I have only been a customer of TELUS once and that was over 4 years ago, I am positive that I have paid any money I owed the company in full. But lets just say for arguments sake that even if I did owe them some money still, shouldn't they have come after me sooner?
I have never dealt with anything like this nor have I ever been in debt. If someone could give me some direction that would be great! ... Thanks.- Caller: Unknown
- fed up replies to Stop BreedingMe as well I have already requested communication in writing and they have ignored it
- Justme replies to Stop BreedingI've received 2 calls today and it's Sunday..They say there from Telus looking for so and so..Well I'm not him..Wow..I got called a liar and a bunch of other bs....Something should be done about these people...This has been going on for months...
- mad in VanSo and So from Debt Collection keeps harassing me telling him I owe a telus debt from 2007. I have never had telus as a provider. In an attempt to get him to stop calling I humoured him for a while. I asked what date/address my telus debt was inccured from-he told me a date from 2007 but no address. He told me he had my SIN number from when I opened the account. I asked him to tell me my SIN number. He would not saying it was a privacy act, but if i told him my SIN he would confirm if it was the correct one. (Don't do this!) I told him that I wasn't confortable giving him any information at all over the phone. He said that if I just make a small payment on my $300 debt then maybe he can talk to his manager and make it go away. I asked for the account that the debt was inccured under. He gave me 'their' account. I asked for the telus account number. He spouted off some account number with a BUT telus has passed this debt on to us, so they probably wont know what you are talking about. Ha! I told him I would call telus and confirm the debt. They should have a record of my account if in fact i gave them my SIN? He stressed that if i just made a small payment over the phone he could make the debt go away. Hey dumb ass-do you think I am a dumb ass too. PLEASE no one give them your information and or credit card.

- katthey call me up to 11 times a day telling me I owe debt to a electric company I have never used I went as far as getting my credit check, to double check. nothing on my record! don't give them your info!!!!
- prairiegirlIf they are calling your cell just add the number and name (F***ING PHISHERS) to your contacts list, then assign them a unique ring tone that you like to listen to and never never ever answer it.
- Harley replies to shortyJust hang up when they call you . Tell them they have the wrong
Number and hang up. They will stop calling , eventually. - TaylorNo idea who this is calling me, but I have no debt with any phone companies or anything like that, and I just got this new number last week. No one but my family knows I have it, so it's not on any of my files anyways. Clearly a scam.
- Gerry JBI'm getting calls continually day by day/eves too 7 days a week by CBV Collections scumbags.
They are not only using this #1-866-387-8751 but also try to reach you at local Vancouver #778-328-9992 to get around your/my attempts at Caller ID screening and/or Call Blocks.
Agree with earlier posts, absolutely do not return their calls - it will only embolden them to be more harassing + aggressive. Legitimate creditors & debtors would go through small claims court procedures if it was a bona fide debt to collect.
IGNORE CBV Vancouver calls & elsewhere across Canada.

- Matthew SpenceI used to get calls from them all the time regarding a phantom Telus bill. With the newest iPhone iOS you can setup a contact and block it from ever bothering you. Once you do this they cannot call or text. It took me a few weeks of continually adding their different numbers to my block list, but now I have not heard from them in months!! It's perfect!
I'd highly recommend this. The problem just goes away. lol- Caller: CBV

- Stephcalls me at home non stop and now got a call at my work! I have no debt what so ever and never have had an outstanding or over due payment number is 866 387 8751
- Caller: they don't identify
- AnthsGirl03They don't always just randomly call. I had them calling me for an old friend 10 times a day, saying he used to have this number when I know he didn't. They got my number from a account we shared for a vehicle and eventually added that number for his brother. My number was on over 14 different accounts, hence the reason for all the calls. I just called the number back and now they are asking for a different name, my fiancé, but refused to tell me why. They have called many times, but hopefully they won't call again. I told them to look up that number and remove it from every account that pops up. I do not want any more calls from them. Last time it worked. I hadn't heard from them in months until today. All you have to do is tell them it's not you, and remove your number. If they refuse ask for a manager. I am going to look for the number I was given last time that goes directly to the manager and post it so if you have any problems like I did, you can attempt to speak directly to them.

- Stop CallingHis company has been calling me at night 2 minutes to 9 pm. I am not the person in the account. This is Harassment! This people do not leave a voice mail but they are calling on a regular basis. Jordan (the agent) told me that they are allowed to call because is 2 minutes to 9 PM and it is automated. Like that make a difference!

- LaurenThey are literally calling my line 9 times a day. NINE FREAKIN TIMES!!!
I come home every day from school and see all these calls, they left one message once, for someone I don't know.
They start just after 7am, and keep going till 8pm.
(LOL They just called while I'm typing this....when I answered they actually hung up lol)
They say they are the Credit Bureau of Canada. They do NOT have any affiliation with any Canadian Government branch, they just make it sound like it, even using a web address which closely mimics a government address. They are really a bottom feeding company that buys up super old delinquent accounts for literally pennies on the dollar, and then criminally harass either the debtor, and whoever happens to be at the last known number of the debtor. By the time the delinquent accounts get to them, it has been bought and sold so many times that they probably only paid say $25 on a $500 account.
Also note, any account over 2 years old, they can not sue you for. After six years of NOT ACKNOWLEDGING the debt, they can not collect. PERIOD. So never own up to the debt. You can also get them to stop calling (if you're the actual debtor) by writing them and saying they are no longer to contact you by phone, only by mail. Which they have to follow if you provide your mailing address to them.
IF they continue to call, if you live in British Columbia, contact Consumer Protection and they can be fined and you awarded up to $1500 per call. PER CALL. That amount isn't in every case, but it depends on how many times they call, how belligerent they are, if they're using robocalls, and if you've written asking them to stop calling and only contact by mail.
This lowlife company is actually: www.collectcents.com
That doesn't sound as scary now, does it :D
Report em to Consumer Protection and don't be bullied by these SOB's any more.- Caller: Credit Bureau of Canada
