Message left said I needed to call about a summons.  They used my prior name, which was changed five years ago.

they called everyone we know with a "listed" telephone number. said it was for a court matter that has very serious allegations attached to it. when our families started to call us we checked into it it was a collection agency saying they are a law firm and they wanted payment or a settlement for a 7 year old credit card debt. we hung up but really this is bad calling everyone in the country we know.

Carolyn Cook of Hoffman Weinberg & O'Brien 866-450-5702 ext 109 called caller ID showed 716-923-7405 she asked for a peron with my same last name -made it sound like a legal matter. Took her info and Googled it - glad to know this is B.S. collection crap.

Yet another plant from a sleazy “law” firm.  Any time there are dozens of complaints on these websites against yet another crummy, disreputable collector, the collector will eventually get around to planting entries of their own on the site claiming that they are legitimate and scary and oh, so serious, and you had better deal with them or else.

any of their belligerent threats.  Their weapons are fear and intimidation because they have nothing else.  Ignore them, block them, laugh at them, but don’t fall for their stale lies and hysterical claims.  No one’s life is so empty that they have even 10 seconds to waste on these bottom-feeders.

You know those people that call you about "old debt"? Remember, it is "your old debt" & you know it, remember those "people" are just that, "people". hi  im  a x work of Huffman, Weinberg, Obrien. everything they say to you  on the phone is bull [***]!!!!!!!they use fake names  when they call you ( so you do know there real  names  cause if you do you can sue the collector  but cause they give you  a  made up  name they  can say this person  dont work  here  and  youll  lose  in  court cause  of this)  and say there going to take  you  to court when the never  do. all you peole have to do is tape these [***] on the phone and take them to court you ll get a  [***] load of money cause there breaking  every  rule of the fdcpa. o and theres  no one   name Huffman, Weinberg, Obrien that works there.  they  use  that  name  in case they get  sued or close  down, then they  can open a another one in  a  different name. o and  i  omost  forgot  keep you  answer machine tapes  cause  there breaking the law on the tape  you  can use them in court  against these  [***].

I am filling out the report on fdcpa website!  I don't think it's right for them to represent a lawfirm saying they have a summons for some court appearance and threating me with 24 hours to comply or else!

I got a call from "Carolyn Cook" with Hoffman, Weinberg & O'Brien in regards to my relatives credit card collections. I have no idea how they know we are related or know my name, number, etc. But, they called and I called "Carolyn" back to tell her I know nothing and to take me off their calling list.
All she said was "You're an [***]" and hung up.

On the caller id, it showed up as "New York 716-597-0889" and "Carolyn" gave me the 1-866-450-5702 number to call back.

I reciev'd a phone call on my cell phone from tha same ya'll are talk'n bout for a suppos'd credit card that was open'd up 5 years ago. First of all i di'int think they was allow'd to call a cell phone that's why they are prsonal. The lady never gave me her name told me also that if I di'int contact her in 24 hours they was gonna issue a summons for me to go to court.The number came in as 716-597-0889 an was also told to call 1-866-450-5702 ext. 187. When I told her she was call'n a cell phone wit me not work'n want'd to know how i was able to pay a cell phone bill but not a credit card bill when in atual tha bill is in my fathers name an he is pay'n for it. Was told my wages were gonna be garnish'd an this would go on my credit for tha next 20 years but how can they garnish wages an force someone to pay for sumin when they are not work'n unemploy'd an have no source of income. This happen'd to my husband b4 also they scar'd him an told him he would go to jail if he di'int pay tha bill so he was forc'd to borrow money off of his 94 yr old grandmother to get it tak'n care of when in atual all they did was scare him too an it work'd, but i'm not let'n them scare me i've contact'd my lawyer to find out wat to do especially wit them call'n a cell phone.. Any feed back would be helpful..

I knew some thing was not wrong when the person said he had my last two addresses and I had never received anything from them. I bought a house almost two years ago. I don't remember if this was on my credit report or not. The person said that his firm had bought the debt after I had got my credit report. I had originally went over the credit card limit ($500) while I was in the UK (2003), and it was a long time before I paid on it. I never used it  again. When I finally started paying on it again it was over $1100 from the penalties and interest. I found my files from this credit card. The person I talked to was right. I had payed it all the way down to $92. Now I owe over $700 from the penalties and interest . I can see why they are coming after me. Thats a lot of money.
I now have three credit cards that I owe around $600 on. I also owe a little over $500 in taxes from a injury in 2005. I still owe around $500 on a cell phone that I had for a month. It was suppose to have come with AAA service, but when I couldn't pay my cell phone bill with an out of state credit card, stranded in the mountains (no Sprint office to pay in cash), I payed a little over $250 for two tows.
Am I a bad person, sorry, what happened to the world, don't be so quick to judge. If you are real.
I think what I really need is a tax break; a no bid contract; a bail out; someone to lobby for me. This would help me a lot.

The name of the day representing this company is "Suzette Daniels." She uses ext 110. She has called all the relatives of a family member who has been out of work and homeless for two years and we don't even know where he lives! I decided to Google the "law firm" of Hofmann, Weinberg, and O'Brien from New York and found out they are a collection firm based in Buffalo, New York. I certainly believe everyone should pay their bills, but sometimes people fall on rough times. We've helped this relative to the extent we could afford, but paying off bills? We can do no more. Thanks for the comments from everyone. It helps clear some of this up.

Just talk back to them like they talk to you. Please tell Miss Murphy and her other identity Miss O'connor that she is dumb b****. Leave everyone alone and get a real job.

They called my number REPEATEDLY, even after they were told they had the worng number. Trying to get off their list is an exercise in futility. They are RUDE, obnoxious and theyr "superior in the office" Ms. Murphy LOVES to state that 'this is a professional business." If it's so professional, they why are your associates taunting people calling to have their number removed (over and over again!) and why does it take calling 7 TIMES to get a number removed from your list?!? Guess who I'm going to next...BBB and FCC.
