Suzette called me on my cell, how they got it I will never know, very threatening.

Same thing happening to me.  Asked them to stop calling and was talked to rudely, and then hung up on.  I don't even know what it is about because I keep asking for them to send me something in the mail, but they just hang up on my.  I called the Attorney General's Office, and they told me to write to them (certified) and ask for the phone call to CEASE IMMEDIATELY, and to send any contracts, etc. through the mail.  I was also told to get on the DO NOT CALL Registry, which I didn't realize needed to be updated occasionally.  The address I found for them is:

I was contacted by a distant cousin that I have not seen in many years. He gave me a number of this firm (Hoffman, Weinburg & O'Brian), saying that they had been calling him wanting information on me. They said that it was a civil matter at the local courthouse. After that, they contacted my ex-motherinlaw, of 13 years, whose has been widowed and remarried since. She had the same type story of threats and serious legal actions against me. After I heard from them, I called the number (866-450-5702, ex.211) and spoke with a Mrs. Murphy. She was rude, hostile and she threatened me numerous times about legal actions and court. I asked repeatedly what was the company, charge, etc. and could I get any information and see something in writing. She said that this was something that happened in 1999 and would not elaborate. I told her that I had been going through a divorce at the time and it was possible my ex had CC or something else that was in her/our name that was not paid, and I would definately check it out...but that I needed to see something to know what it was. She refused repeated, threatened me and more. She said she needed our physical address to serve me papers, which I did not give. One week later I received a call from 716-597-0889 on my business cell phone. This number is not listed anywhere under my name, only the company I work for. I missed the call, but received a voice mail from "Mrs. Murphy" again, stating that it had been one week and she could not wait any longer. She was going tomorrow to file a civil suit in our local courthouse and have me served. She threatened that if I wanted to get a lawyer, I better get a really good one because I was going to need it. There were several other little threatening remarks in the message.

I have saved the message and also took a picture of the phone number that was on my phone. I have family and neighbors that would verify that they have been contacted as well. Any advice on what I should do from here?

Timothy Peters called saying he was with Jackson County Court house and that  I was a person of interest in reference to court case in which (he used a name) which is my ex-husband and that he needed to appear in court. I told him I had no knowlegde of his whereabouts as I had not had contact with him for over 15 years.

Several times, I received a call from this so called law firm saying it's going to court, bla bla bla.  And they aren't even asking for anyone that is living in the house.  In fact, the person they are calling is my x-daughter-in-laws mom, who I was never close friends with and haven't seen for years.  I have no idea how they even got my phone number in the first place.  My son called them a few months ago and explained she doesn't live here, she's in a nursing home.  And here they are again....!  I did a search on the number on my caller ID and it can't be found..that's crazy.  I couldn't make out the name or the first number of the number the guy left.

Hahaha I got a call from a Jackie Morgan from Hoffman Weinberg and Obrien too lol her extension is 125 she called my mother's ex boyfriend's cell phone looking for my father that lives in Mexico what kind of [***] is that hmmm she is so stupid saying it's a legal matter i was like he doesn't even live in the country lol i was like ummm okay what is it for and who is this calling she was like did you father ever live in Texas i was like no but I do reside in Texas they called 25 of our relatives looking for him i was like some [***] i didn't think they could do that [***] but i guess I am wrong on that but all I know they can go to hell. over a credit card or something and it was at that a bank card and he is only overdrawn 200 bucks there so stupid and don't have any lives just to sit at their desk and lift the receiver and lie all day [***] long stupid [***]

This company has been calling my husbands relatives for me as well. The first calls started over a year ago, with "Carloyn Cook" calling my home and my inlaws home, saying she was a paralegal from the law firm Hoffman,Weinburg and O'Brian. She threatened my inlaws and myself saying she was issuing a summons in the county where i live. I never recieved a thing from them in the mail. Now, a different person named "Ms. Hernandez" is calling my inlaws with the same old mess. I have asked for valadation of this debt, and they hang up on me.

haha I just got a call from them, and EVERYBODY in my house freaked out ! We thought there were gonna be court proceedings and all this legal trouble for a bill that we didn't even know about. I got on Google and this was the first link. I can't stop smiling about it haha Whgen they call back, we're gonna mess with them over the phone. My wife received the same harrassing calls from Hoffman, Weinberg and O'Brien. Sad to say they got to us and we set up payments and they have been debting our account for about seven months. Are there any help for us?

Hoffman Weinberg Obrien God this company makes me lol. They give fake names if give you there real name then you could sue them. If you get call from them I wouldn't answer it if you tell them person doesn't live here call phone company have there number blocked because these people will keep calling you and harassing you and telling you take you court only original creditor can take you court if they say anything other than that they are liers. The guy that called my house recently and also my mother in laws is Adam Scott these people have no life but to sit at desk pick up receiver and harass people and if people didn't run up debt they wouldn't have job so be happy and quit harassing people because doing that isn't going make your pay check.

Called my job this a.m. asking for my mom, who has never worked in my office or industry, same old jargon...from the law firm, sue you in court...

this is all so clear now.  my son has a cell phone which he is only to use to call certain people and when i checked his v.m. there was a message from HW&O for MY EXHUSBAND who hardly ever sees his son.  when i heard it i thought man he's in some deep crap but then found this site and am glad i did.  although, i'll still pass along the message to my ex mother in law to pass it along to my ex.  LOL!!!

Dateline aired an episode called 'Debt Trap' a few weeks ago; about a collection agency trying to intimidate people to pay off their old debts. Dateline showed up at a location and filmed the inside of one of these offices; boy, let me tell you, looked like nothing but a bunch of low lifes on the phone. Well I guess you would have to be, to threaten people over phone.

Long story short, this one particular collection agency was owned by a guy who once served time in prison. Due to Dateline, they were shut down because this one particular agency was breaking the law by lying and saying there is a warrant out for your arrest and a police will be called to arrest you if you don't pay off this debt.

They threaten me with a summons next day. I am 100% Disable Veteran they called me liar that I lazy ass who did not want to work and pay my bills. I might owed some bills but they said I owed $ 4000 for a $ 1085 bill that was back 2001 get real.

This "Law firm" just started calling me the other day threatening to transfer this debt from New York to CA where I live.  The debt has NOT been on my credit report since 2000 and I think I did pay it!  This is a scam!  I am sending them a letter threatening them with a letter to the CA District Attorney General's Office.

These people are sleaze. They have been calling my wife for months over debts that are several years and and pre-date a bankruptcy, so should have been discharged under that. She has mental health problems, which are aggravated by this harassment and attempted suicide about 2 months ago. "Timothy Peters" called while she was in the hospital, and laughed about it when I told him not to call because she had just shot herself and was in the hospital. They are still continuing to call and leave their threats and I am considering changing the phone number to give her a break when she gets home [she's still in the hospital dealing with some things]. I found out they have also been calling her parents and grandparents and telling them that she was going to have to go to court if someone didn't pay the money. Her dad is undergoing chemotherapy right now for lung cancer and doesn't need this extra stress either - he called me worried to death that she was going to jail when she got back.

To all the collection agency plants - we do pay our bills. This was for a debt that is no longer even collectible in this state, from a bankruptcy she filed before we got married. She put all her other known debts on payment plans when she lost her job, and has been paying them monthly out of disability checks and money from doing odd jobs and selling things online. This doesn't leave much extra money, and when someone pops up out of the blue [these people are not even listed on the credit report] threatening lawsuits over a debt they won't even validate or say where it came from, then it is just plain harassment and scare tactics. We have dealt with collection agencies, and made payment arrangements through some of them, but I refuse to have any dealings with a bunch of [***] like this.

suzette Daniels called me supposedly from Hoffman,Wineberg,o'brian not so a collection agency threatened to sue on 8 yr old credit card Providian. Sometimes people come on hard times. I was locked for two years. That's when I defaulted. Haven't had a good job since. I'm not worried in my state statuate of limitations is 6 yrs to file suit on credit card. I was an employee of Hoffman Weinberg and O'Brien. I was sexually assaulted by one of the owners, John Cordova, and the manager, Dave Hiltz. They are both no good [***]. I'm filing a sexual harassment suit against the company. I heard from Dave Hiltz that one of the owner's, Steve, was fired as a cop for sexual harassment. I felt so violated by these scum bags. They are not a law firm; they are a 3rd party collection agency. Please do not give them your hard-earned money. They can't sue you. It took me some time to go to my Atty. I was so scared and depressed from this. Here I am, single mom of 2 kids, and these [***] did that to me. The manager (Dave Hiltz) took me in the conference room to act like he was going to talk to me about work. He came up to me grabbing my hand to touch his hard weewee. He asked me what am I doing for sex since my husband and I divorced. I told him to get away from me. He pushed me against the wall and grabbed my face and said that if I tell, I will lose my job. So I was so scared I never told anybody for about 2 months. It was bothering me so bad. So I called my mom crying from what they did to me. My mom told me go to the police right now to have them arrested. They will be served the court papers on Dec 29th. Merry Christmas, you dirt balls! Hope they shut this business down for many reasons. They have a message that they made us leave on an answering machine at the end of message says if we fail to respond it will result in a summons being filed with the DBTR's County Court. That is false and misleading against the law. I feel sorry for all of these people that have any doings with this place. There are convicted felons who work there. They have access to all your personal info, for example, your S.S\#, bank acc'ts, other credit card num's in good standings. Don't answer their calls. Don't give them any info. Be careful; they will wipe out your bank acc't. If you get contacted by these people, call the State Atty General and the BBB and the FTC together. We will take them down.

They called and left a message threatening legal action in "Jackson County" if the call is not returned. They guy said he was calling from their "pre-legal" department.

hello deadbeats the single fact remaining is that you all are complete scumbags and you are the #1 reason why credit card interest rates are so high.... scum like you give us americans who actually pay our bills a bad name.    just because your a drug addict,drunk,illegal alien, or just a dead beat idiot who cant speak english doesnt exempt you from paying your bills.   wake up step into reality and remember your just a phone call away ill be talking to you soon.    have a great day and get A F---NG  JOB YOU LAZY a--.
