Most likely these are robo phone calls, since there is generally no response when you pick up. I suggest that you don't respond to the calls and don't ever
call them back. That lets them know that they have a valid number and the calls will continue; and, there has been attempts at getting personal information. There are a couple of numbers that seem to be involved.  Whether they are a collection agency or a scam outfit, I don't know and don't care. I don't answer calls from people that I do not know.  If they are legitimate, they can leave a message and I will get back to them. If not, they will never hear from me. Same with text messages and emails. If I don't know who is sending them, I delete them without reading them. More than ever, security is the name of the game.

This entity has harassed me for over two years.  Refuse to identify the debt other than the amount -- not the purchase or where I allegedly purchased it on credit which is interesting since my husband and I only deal with cash purchases unless it is a car. I have written their offices in Virginia on numerous occasions to no avail.  Today I not only wrote them directly but emailed them and forward the same to the State Attorney General and our personal attorney.  Have asked them to cease and desist, but the calls keep coming.

These guys try to act tough, but they are morons.  I called them back from my office phone and asked why they were calling my home.  They were looking for a friend of mine, I asked about what, they wanted to know if I was her father or husband, I said no, then this jerk asked why I was curious?  I asked why he was calling my home.  "Because the number is on the file" and I replied, "Better get a new file" and he stared trying to talk tough and I hung up on him.  Said he was from Global International.  I have customers that owe me a lot of money and I talk to them, try to work it out, and usually get paid.  This nonsense of acting like your Don Coreleone only makes me want to play games with them.  So I call them back on their toll free number and hang up!   :)  These companies should be put out of business.  I had a guy call me two days ago and told one of my employees that he "had to speak to me immediately" and when I answered he said "My name is Rudy and I'll make this brief, I do collections and get results in 10 days" and I was brief, I just hung up.  I don't want anyone talking to my customers that way.  Bad debt is part of the cost of doing business.  I don't like it, but it's real.  Abusing companies that fall behind doesn't get you anywhere.  So, everyone that has received calls from these guys should call their toll free number 10 times a day and hang up!  :)

Received call from this company at 5:43p.m. Caller, was rude and insultive, refused to reveal his identify, then passed on a female supervisor (Jane Mauiy). Both failed to reveal the name of their company nor the purpose of the call. I informed both callers that the call was being recorded and they hung up.

It's for Capitol 1 Credit card
If you have not paid your bill in over 8 months, your bill gets sent to Portfolio Associates, aka a Debt collection agency.

I suggest you pay your bill as soon as possible, otherwise you will have to pay a certain amount in full. Just talk with them, they will work something out with you, even if you are unemployed. I pay as little as $20 a month.

I would get this taken care of, otherwise it will show up on your credit and you do not want that, because it takes forever for it to come off!

This company calls at least once a week. They are trying to collect a debt from 12 years ago that my son-in-law made and later filed for bamkruptcy. In no case does he owe these creeps. I finally got on the phone and the idiot could barely speak real english, I thought if I could speak rap or hiphip, the fool would understand but I won't lower myself to that degree of inhumanity. When I asked him why he called he asked for my soc. sec. number. I told him to put it where the sun don't shine. He then said they had the wrong number.

I have been receiving hang up calls from Portfolio Recovery Assoc. for the last 2 weeks. They are asking for me by previous for a some account that I was suppose to have opened with Sear back in 1994. I explained that I have no such debt and never did. That I do not owe $300 and some change. They have my DOB but are 1 digit off on my SS#. I explained that I the statute of limitations in Oregon is 10 years. They say that does not make the debt goaway. I said damn sure does especially when I never owed it in the 1st place. I will confirm no information with them as once you do the limitations start all over if you actually do indeed owe the $$$. I check my credit regulaly and I have never had a debt with Sears. They do not seem to care about the law. They just keep calling you back from different numbers. They can [***]!!!

Kurt Vonnegut referred to some people, who were in jobs where they were essentially "machines made out of meat."  The people who work at these types of collection firms aren't much to begin with, and in their "boiler room" settings, have supervisors riding them in an atmosphere which would make anyone balmy.  These companies have collected old debts, the vast majority well-beyond any legal collection period, and many with incorrect information anyway.  Auto-dialers make hundreds of calls, and whenever a rep connects live with somebody, they hope to intimidate into paying as much as possible, or begin a series of communication whereby they's offer supposedly bargain settlements.  To coin an expression, "they throw a lot of s#*t at the wall, hoping some will stick.  Just ignore them.  I don't owe anybody.  As best as I can determine, after a divorce many years ago, with an attorney cleaning up all financial items, something isolated MAY have "slipped through a crack;" don't believe so, but it was either that, or more likely, these guys have no only old, but erroneous info.  Whatever, I couldn't care less, and just ignore them, and you should, too.

    Im so annoyed
Okay tis number calls me non-stop asking for "Fallin Lang" or something and I think the want me to pay my debt or something but I'm 11 years old so... i bearely even know what debt is. i don't answer the calls and they always leave voicemails saying:
We are trying to reach Fallin Lang.
Press 1 if you are Fallin Lang.
Press 2 if you know Falling Lang
Press 3 if you have heard of Fallin Lang but do not know him personally.
Press 4 if you are not Fallin Lang and do not know him.
Then, it would pause for a little bit and i tried to press four but it didnt anything and it would say:
We have not received a direct response. Again, we are trying to reach Fallin Lang. And then it would start ALL over again and the voicemail would be like 15 mins long. I DONT KNOW WHO FALLIN LANG IS!!!!???? It's sooooo annoying.
