This fool called my house looking for a relative that I have not seen in several years. I know that he is probably a short man with a big voice. He can't scare anything out of anybody. I will be calling the Gwinnett County Police Department and filing an complaint. This fool is calling all over the world for this relative and she has lived in the same area 20 plus years. If it was that serious he would have gotten a warrant. They will check to see if he is an sworn officer or just using the title "investigator". This FOOL Theodore Teddy Porter wanting to be something he ain't!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this company call my grandmother and father in-law looking for me, a very embarassing thing to happen, especially when my grandmother is freaking out about be sued. I hope this guys are shut down.

Noel Lewis called me twice: once on March 24th and once on March 26th.  On the 26th, she left a message telling me that someone filed a complaint against me and that if I didn't call her back immediately they would be taking legal action against me.  When I got the message, it did frighten me and I wondered what this might be about.  I have signed off a few credit cards (over 11 years ago) but I paid all of them off.  I also had some old medical bills & utility bills that are years old.  The the second message Noel said, "This matter will require you to get an attorney."  She also recommended that I "resolve this matter while it is still under investigation."  She was nasty and rude and inarticulate but she did make my heart skip several beats and make my stomach sink to the floor.  I guess these companies are getting super desparate with the economy collapsing.  They are pulling out all stops to get their money and are using humiliation, intimidation, fear, and manipulation to do so.  I'm gonna call Noel back and play a love song for her.  I feel compassion for her.  Must be a painful job to have.  She can't possibly feel good about herself and her life.

Got a call regarding an old credit card debt my BIL owed. Refused to send any info on the debt. My husband told them he would contact his attorney on Monday and get his input on this matter. They Hans Gould got angry and hung up but my husband called back and talked to someone else. When attorneys are mentioned they get very beligerent. They wanted my husband's credit card number and payment by credit card. We suspected a scam and called police dept. They suspected same so I decided to do a little googling and sure enough! They must be stopped!

all of a sudden, they've been harassing me, threatening that i will get subpoenaed and i fell for it after they called my brother in law's brother about my past debt from '98.  they were [***] and one man, Spencer, hung up on me because i told him that i was retracting my agreement and that i would be sending a letter to my bank (for fraudulent charge) to get the funds back!  i've left several messages for THEM with no call back, of course.  anyhu, here is their address for anyone who wants to send them their [***] back!

They just called my brother in Tampa, Fl. asking him where I was? He asked what this was all about and they did not reply. I searched their phone number and got this group...Thanks for all the info , I forwareded the info to my brother.

Not only did I find a call on my answering machine today but they called a neighbor in my condo building and asked him to relay a message to me to call this "special investigator".  Scumbags.

Special Investigator Johnson left a legit sounding message on my machine for my step-father-in-law about a civil suit.  He also said we had 24 hrs to respond and good luck!  I thought my mother-in-law had filed divorce papers so I called them back and told them we didn't want anything to do with this!  He asked me to give him contact info.  When I told him I would only confirm the info he had, he said they "delete" any numbers that won't go through from their system. I asked how the hell he got my number and was given a bunch of crap about "in the course of their investigation" they contact family and friends.  My in-laws live in Canada and I live in Virginia.  They haven't lived in the U.S. in 14 years!!  I had my husband call his mother who looked up the number online and came across these postings.  I'm so glad I never gave them any further info!!

My husband and I received a call from Legal Action Recovery - Patrice Morris.  They left a message and it was difficult to understand stating that my husband had a civil litigation against him. It sounded very odd.  Especially since we didn't receive any sort of documentation.  We searched on the name and found all the information on their tactics.  I also checked out a site on how to file a complain against debt collectors that infringe on our rights and privacy.  http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs27-debtcoll.htm#7

I just rec'd two messages from them- but they said their name was Investigator-Nicholas Maurol from the 'Offices of Legal Action' 877-209-5454. The called on my answering machine first-lengthy and harassing-for me (under my maiden name) and my husband stating there was a civil complaint being filed. As I was listening to the message to get the number, they called right back!! I spoke to Nicholas to try to figure out what he was talking about...he just said there is a civil complaint in (another) county...I started asking for their address, their practice license number to practice in Florida and he transferred me to 'Mr Bradley'. Mr. Bradley would NOT give me information (His full name, who was filing the complaint, what its regarding *so if an attorney is needed, we knew which type of practice* nor their address or practice license number) He started to argue with me and threatened to get the sheriff's office to issue an arrest warrant at our door if my husband did not call back. Again I asked for more information than just 'a civil compliant' that he was offering and he hung up on me! I'm furious! Thank goodness I looked up the number because Google did not find the company they stated they represented 'The Offices of Legal Action in Georgia'. Thank you all for the information. I'm still consulting an attorney and contacting the county court to find out if anything is filed. I believe this came from Portfolio Recovery Associates because I sent them two certified letters *just received the return receipt today!* disputing the debt in a 'Cease and Desist' letter based off the Fair Debt Collections Act (FDCPA) policies. Glad to know they are garbage (already expected because of the treatment and lack of professionalism) and after talking to a friend attorney- he said it's garbage to and advised we look into the county to find out if anything is there so we can either send a 'Debt Validation' letter and/or hire an attorney to SUE THEM for harassing and violating the Fair Debt Collections Act (FDCPA) policies! I will be filing a compliant with the State Attorney General's in FL and GA, the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) and the Better Business Bureau. Good luck everyone!

I got a call today and had the same message. They used a married name that I have not had for over 12 years. I do not owe any money. Especially not under that name. A "special" detective, Jacob Roberts, who sounded like he was drunk left the message.

Lomax Barnes tried to scam my wife. I'm in the legal profession. These folks are at the bottom of the food chain. They either purchase dead accounts or are assigned an account with a bounty attached which uses various payback methods to their firm. Don't co-operate with these folks as they operate illegally, collect personal data, threaten, harass and intimidate consumers with criminal action, civil lawsuits, etc. Very Illegal. Watch out.

BTW: The debt was fifteen years old, had not been rejuvenated through any payments within the last 10 years and had been written off by Discover card before my wife and I had ever met.

these jerks told me i was being sued in federal court and criminal court for defrauding a financial institution they were trying to collect a cc debt from 1998 that was written off by the cc company what they are doing is illegal calling family, my blood pressure got sp high medicine could not control it. I AM REPORTING THEM TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF GEORGIA THEY EVEN GAVE US A FAKE ADDRESS AND SAID THEY REPRESENTED ATTORNEY GOLDSTIEN WHICH COULD NOT BE FOUND

Investigator Jacob Roberts called my home regarding my mother.  First of all on the message he left I could hear another woman in the background leaving a message for someone else regarding her "court ordered summons".  I had a feeling this was some sort of telemarketing call.  The "investigator" said he was calling regarding a court ordered summons from Harris County.  He gave me an affidavit number and his phone number 877-209-5454 ext. 107.  He said someone filed litigation procedings against my mother.  I decided to google the 877 number he gave and i found this website.  Thank you so much for alerting me this is a scam.  I would have had my mother worried for nothing.

This company called my sister in law's mother in law looking for me.  We don't even share the same last name.  They told her that a complaint had been filed against me just as others have described on this site.  I know calling other people and giving them this kind of info is a violation of the FDCPA, I filed a complaint with the FTC using one of the links in one of the posts above.  I have not received any notice from these people regarding what debt this is for and I have not been served with any papers.
