Received call to check on purchase 1/19/14 over $600. NEVER PURCHASED ANYTHING, DONT HAVE AN ACCOUNT! Scam

Thankfully, this is not a scam. I thought this automated call sounded fishy, but I have a Capital One card, so I looked on the back of my card and gave them a call. The said Capitol One is different than GE Capital Card Services. After a few more questions from the guy at Cap One, I realized the call was regarding my new Ashley Furniture card. They did not ask me for any SS # or anything, just verified the purchase.

Just a call from GE Capitol about an account we opened recently.

I got the call too.... shortly after realized it was a new Lenscrafters Account.  Person on the phone was happy to assit me.  Its good to be cautions but this is a vaild number/

I receive the same call on my answering machine.  It was from GE Capital Retail Bank to verify a purchase I recently made at a furniture store. I opened a 6 month same as cash account with GE Capital.

 I always am concerned when we get calls like this, so up to the computer I went and found this blog.  I thought scam too since we don't have a cc with GE Capital, but then after reading all above, realized that duh, we just did a financing for a new bed this last week through a reputable mattress company.  So, this is LEGIT!  No personal questions were asked.  It is an automated call just verifying you were the person to open this account.  So, consumer beware at all times, and this time it is OK!

Legit call for a 0% loan, 6 months same as cash for piano purchase.

Recently financed purchase through PC Richards and this is the card company verifying my purchase.

They did the same to me today. Is this an attempt to do cheat us?

This is legitimate - it's GE retail confirming I charged something on my new account with them.  

Legit for once. Verifying account and explaining promotional financing. FYI: GE Capital Retail Bank is now called Syncrony Bank. Got a possible identity theft alert from AAA yesterday under that name and I didn't recognize it so Googled Syncrony and found the name change. Application form at Discount Tire still said GE Bank on 8/11/14.

I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. End of story. This may be a legitimate business relationship; based on the above notes I have reason to believe it might be. If they want to communicate with me they need to leave a message that makes me believe it's on the up and up. They failed to do that and it seems like others have had similar experiences. They said it was a message for.....no name. I guess they think this will save them money? I can't imagine why they operate this way considering the current problems with hacking and identity theft! They have my email address. I will NEVER answer their calls. Hope it's not important.

I just received a message from this number 877-214-5967.  
I normally do not return calls of this sort, but the recording said it was from GE Capital Credit.  When I returned the call, I received a recording thanking me for my purchase this past Saturday at HH Gregg.  I did not have to enter any personal information....all I had to enter was " 1 " for English.  The recording also stated exactly where my purchase was made, the amount of the purchase and the repayment terms.
No scam here!

I just purchased furniture from a local store and got financing from them.  They mentioned the store chain in the automated call, and never asked for any of my information other than to verify my name, and the phone # on the account, because i did not call back from my home phone.  NO asking for SSN#s, account numbers, etc.  

Then just a message noting how much had been charged (which was the amount of my furniture) and thanking me for opening an account.  It had an option to wait and talk to a representative if I had questions.

Very legit, not a scam.

Just got a message from 877-214-5967. It was GE Capital (now dba Synchrony) welcoming me as a new customer.  I got a new line of credit with Discount Tire for a $30 rebate on new tires. They asked me for no personal information, since they already have everything they need.

Based on my experience, I'm 100% confident that this is a legitimate business and everyone below who is now in a spastic panic should just chill their teats and stop spreading false information.  

Instead, go check your wallet or pocketbook for your missing driver's license. Because it sounds a lot like someone very close to you (girlfriend, husband, stepson, crackhead neighbor) has stolen it and opened a line of credit to purchase something for themselves using YOUR good credit.

This is not a scam. I just opened an account at Audio Express and they are just calling to verify my purchase.

When they called, the name of the bank was Synchrony Bank.  Purpose was to verify my opening a new account with ABC Warehouse, and to advise me of the terms of my no interest for 6 months promotion.  Seemed legit to me!

Call is from Synchrony Bank (aka GE Capitol). I purchased furniture at Ashley Furniture this past weekend and used their 12 months/same as cash promotion. Was expecting this call (the finance person at Ashley gave me the number) so I answered it.

Not a scam. Just confirming a "6-month same as cash" option I chose when purchasing a piano.  This is the company that is financing that option.  No information was asked for except to verify my name.  They then gave an overview of the terms I had agreed to when signing up.
