- Fraud SquadPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

- BAS| 1 replyI got recorded call asking for me by name, saying they are Senergy bank? Something about my new account for home decor. I never opened such an account, this must be a scam!
- Caller: 800- Service

- Caller: uunknown
- Alice Suzanne BoydThey called I didn't answer, but looked up the number. Sounds like a scam.
- Dan LNot a scam. I bought furniture last weekend and signed up for credit. It was Syncrony Bank electronicnically calling to inform me of credit terms.
- Caller: Synchrony Bank
- Call type: Event reminder
- Katie K.Not a scam. I just had car work done and had it financed. This was a call telling me about the terms of the card and the 6 month same as cash deal. I did not have to put in any personal information.
- Caller: Synchrony Bank
- ChuckOpened a credit card at Discount Tire, it was just a welcome call. Not a scam.
- Caller: Synchrony/ GE Capital Bank
- JessAs far as I can tell this is a legitimate number.
I researched after reading the previous comments that were about GE Capital Retail Bank
The name has been changed to Synchrony bank which is the company that called a few minutes ago.
They were confirming info for the credit line we just established to buy new furniture at a local business. If we couldn't give them the correct info I imagine they would have reported it as a fraudulent account.
They asked for name, phone number, address and last 4 of social...NEVER give out your FULL social. Last 4 is fine to confirm. Unless you are calling a company you know for a FACT is legitimate.
If the company calls you and requires a full social, get the name of the company and that persons extension, look up the number for the company and call them back to confirm that it is the company they said they were.- Caller: Synchrony Bank
- Call type: Debt collector
- jessicakbest replies to BASAs far as I can tell, the call is from Synchrony bank. I just got a call from them, and they're legitimate and the number seems to be legitimate.
If they are calling you about an account that you didn't open, I would suggest looking into the possibility of identity theft. There are many companies that track any accounts opening up in your name and social. I'm about to sign up for Lifelock as the call scared me a little bit even though it was safe. lol it has indeed made me paranoid though! - J replies to Melissa P. - Austin, TXThank you! True it's just discount tires!
- EricLegit call from bank, called about recently opened card at Discount Tires
- Maria CrespoThey called me but I do not have an account with them
- KdragonRecent store credit. Shady sounding message but it's legit
- Call type: Debt collector
- MozThis is not a scam, if you get a call from this number it is just to verify that you opened a new account or verify a charge on an existing account that you have with them. If you don't recall opening or purchasing anything with this company then I would do some further investigation.
- Caller: Synchrony
- BBReceived call on my cell, was at work so I couldn't answer. They left message asking me to press any number and that this is not a scam call. I tried to call the number back, but got nothing but clicks. Googled the number go this site.

- ReginaNumber called but no one said anything when I answered. I called back and it was a bank
- Caller: GE capital
- ToddAt least in my case, this was completely legit. I bought tile from a company and they were just calling to give me info if I had questions around the terms of the 0% for 24 months promotion. They had all the info from the sale that they provided on the call back including the company, amount of sale and date. The only thing they asked was what # I had the message left on (I was calling from a different # so it may have tried to check and didn't match)
- Caller: Syncronity Bank
- CBThis is not a scam. I purchased a Bowflex with a promotional 18 months same as cash, which required opening an account with Synchrony Bank. They only asked to press #1 for English and press #1 to confirm my name. The recording explained the terms of the promotion, minimum payments, etc. It's legit.
