- JPMC| 1 replyThis number IS Chase. It is the number for Loss Prevention, aka. Fraud, Deposit Review, Electronic Money Movement. If you are in doubt disconnect and call the corporate switchboard at (877) 302-4273 or the number on the back of the card and ask to be connected to Operating Loss Prevention.
- Caller: Chase
- SuspiciousLikeEveryoneWhat a bunch of paranoids! Myself included. Rather than worry about it I just Chase back direct through the number on the card and got forwarded to Fraud Prevention. I think Chase should recommend that to their customers and handle it that way.
- Caller: Chase
- KevinOkay so this number was from CHASE.
It is a good habit that you always start calling the number on the back of your card.- Caller: Chase
- lllzh| 1 replyThis number is legit, if you are not sure, just go to their website and try to login your account. They will give you this number to call if you account is suspended.

- John replies to lllzhI am actually a telephone banker in Arlington Illinois and have been here for 2 years now. This department is known as Operating Loss Prevention and they deal with deposit holds, pending closure of accounts, and different situations such as restricting accounts and wire transfer activity. Take it with a grain of salt if you must, but I assure you it is a secure line from Chase. Sometimes they do call customers to verify if a check is legitimate and they do it to make sure the item doesn't get returned and can be considered one of the many departments for fraud. What people get misconstrued is there are many types of fraud: check forgery , wire fraud, bill payment through chase online, debt card/ach fraud (auto-withdrawal), depositing fake checks and withdrawing on the available funds, I could keep going but its not necessary. Long story short theres different departments for different types of fraud and also possibly third parties that Chase and other financial institutions use to help customers with their accounts for different situations, this can be even more understandable when theres alot of customers for 1 institution like that of Chase. Youll even notice if you call at this time the number you have on the back of your card and ask to enroll with them in low-balance alerts, they read you a disclosure saying we have permission to call you or inform you about your accounts through phone, email, text, pre-recorded voice messages through third parties to help you monitor your accounts. It's legit.
- NatalieI just called Chase using the number on my debit card -- and I asked them to verify the 1-877-691-8086 number. They said it was NOT fraud and it was their Chase Online number.
No need to worry. - GuidoIt's a legit number. I called the number on the back of my debit card and asked to be transferred to their fraud dept. they verified that it's the correct number for their fraud dept. unfortunately, they are incredibly incompetent. they have no record of calling me and leaving a message to call back, and could find no problems with my account. whoever left the message obviously misdialled and lefet me a message meant for someone else. idiots!

- Use Your Brains replies to FRAUDIt is NOT fraud! its chase trying to verify a transaction.... if id of listened to you my wire transfer wouldn't have gone through!! Know the fact before you make statements like that!!
- Nupur DeyI got a call from this number after I did an online transfer to a new external account of mine. They asked me to give the debit card number to verify and asked for the pin, exp.date and the 3-digit verification number on the back of my debit card. I did provide all of these and the freaking out when i hang up. I searched info for the number in website and saw mixed comments about that number which made me crazy. So, I called the 800 number on the back of my debit card and asked to transfer to Fraud Dept. They assure me that it is their Electronic Money Transfer Dept.'s phone number and I was called to verify the unusual transaction.
Phew! It was a bank account! So, it was fair to be worried. But now, RELAX!- Caller: Chase Electronic Money Transfer
- Tomas de PriedeThis is a genuine number, when I tried to login in my chase account, I see a message that says that I should call that number using option 3. Just for safety I call the CHASE and ask for forward. They ask me some private data, nothing weird, and approved my wire transfer.
- Caller: Chase Electronic Money Transfer
- TTTGot the call from 8776918086 after making a wire transfer on line. I call the 1-800 from Chase website and found no issue. I then checked my chase.com but it got blocked and asked to call the exact same number 8776918086.
I finally call the number and they need to verify the wire transfer. But they need my ac#, ssn, ... to do it. So I declined. They said I can stop by a branch to sort it all out in person. I did and the nice lady made serveral calls and ten minutes later, all done and back to normal. Great service from Chase.
Anyway, I don't think it is a fraud. But I would still do it at the branch than giving out information over the phone. For some reason, the phone banking and the internet banking do not talk to each other at Chase.- Caller: Chase
- mad at scamssaid they need to transfer into the fraud dept and needed my account info to fix issues. then started to get mad when I said it was a scam
- Caller: chase
- You have to be carefulThe message on this number seems to be mixed. I got a call from 877-691-8086 today and they claimed to be Chase Fraud Protection wanting to verify some recent charges. When they then started asking me for personal account information, I turned it back and said that since they called me, they already have that information. I want to verify who they are. I refused to give my personal information and told her I was going to call the number on the back of my card. When I did call and asked for Fraud Protection, I gave them this number. They researched it and then told me it is NOT a Chase phone number. They also tried to call it and there apparently was no answer.
You can make your own decision. I believe this is a scam. What concerns me is how they knew I had a Chase account at all.- Caller: Claimed to be Chase Fraud Prevention
- rickThe number if from Chase. But most calls are fraud, as they have masked their real number to look like Chase. Dont give any information. Hang up and call Chase switchboard.
- g replies to FRAUDThanks
- BrianClassic case of misinformation on the internet due to people trying to state something as fact that is actually pure conjecture. 877-691-8086 is Chase. I just verified automatic withdrawals related to paying down a TCF Home Equity Line of Credit from my Chase account. They knew the check numbers, dates, the amounts, and that it was going to TCF. If it was a fraud, they could not have had that info without having full access to my checking account already, in which case, they would not need to call me to get any security info for that same account. However, when they called me, I did hang up and call the number back directly as people seem to be able to change how the caller ID displays the number now.
Either way, if you're paranoid about it just follow Chase's instructions on their website:
If you are ever unsure about the authenticity of a Chase email, phone call or text message, please call the toll-free number on the back of your credit/debit card or the toll-free number printed on your statement.- Caller: Chase
- BwSheierThis is a valid phone number for Chase. In my case, the call came from the online fraud prevention department.
However, I did NOT allow them to ask me any questions - - nor did I give them any information.
They understood and asked me to call the number on my debit card, any of my credit cards, my branch or any other number I felt comfortable with.
I called the number on the back of my debit card and am presently on hold getting things in order! They were concerned with several large transactions I had done, earlier today.
Thank you, Chase!- Caller: Chase On Line Fraud Department
- KirkI had a message left from 877-691-8086 but I called the number from the back of my business credit card and found out that Chase had not called me about any fraud charges.
- zellweger replies to cfThe lady was referring to the check that was written, as fraud. The number that was given is a verified chase phone number given out by real Chase representatives I have contacted before, with no problems.
- Dri| 1 replyI think the people saying that is legit is wrong or maybe they received a call from the Real Chase
