- ChaseSucksIt is Chase and it is not a scam any more than JPMorgan Chase Bank is a scam.
They are very incompetent but call their main number 800-935-9935 and ask to be transferred to their fraud prevention people if you don't like this number.- Caller: JPMorgan Chase Bank
- DBSconfirmed as Chase Fraud Prevention, though best practice is always to respond by calling number on the back of your credit card and have them confirm they requested the call back.
- NY GuyThis is legit, but Chase customer service is so terrible that I actually suspected it was phishing..........they need to get a clue. Wasted 45 mins with these morons.
- LNelsonReceived a call from this number and they left a voicemail saying it was Chase and to please call them back to verify activity on my account. I wired some money to someone earlier today but I usually get a text message from the fraud department first. I didn't call the number they left but instead called the number on the back of my card. I don't know if it's possible for scammers to spoof a legitimate Chase number, but if you aren't sure, call the number on the back of your card and they can route you to the correct department. Better safe than sorry.

- J replies to hulaThis is chase. They just called me. I asked to call them back to ensure it wasn't fraud. When I tried to log in to my chase account it was locked and this was the number they listed to call to verify info and unlock my account.. If I could I would post a screenshot from he official Chase webpage.
- GaryAs a few people have mentioned above, this IS a valid Chase number. It is the number displayed when you are locked out of your online account, and probably elsewhere fraud possibilities are handled. I was locked out of my account a few weeks ago because someone from half way across the country was attempting to log into my account shortly after I had logged out. When I called the number, they were apologetic but insistent that I had to go to a branch with my ID to prove I was actually me. While it was a hassle, I am glad they were so proactively guarding my account!
As a few other people have mentioned, the call you receive could also be a SCAM! Anyone who knows how can change their outgoing Caller-ID number to show any number they want, so they can make the call appear to be from Chase, Bank of America, etc. AND, it's not difficult to do!!! The information is readily available for anyone to learn how.
So, for ALL callers asking for your private information, make them prove to you they are indeed who they say they are. If you have ANY doubt at all about the caller, get their information (like Department, Full name, phone extension, etc.) as well as the actual reason they are calling (suspicious check, suspicious login attempts, etc.). Then call the company back on the number YOU have for them (back of credit/debit card, main number for the company, local branch, etc.) and have them transfer the call to the proper department that would handle that type of issue. Once you have the proper department, tell them the situation (you received a call regarding ___ from a person claiming to be (name) in department ___ at extension ___ , etc.) A big company may not be able to verify to you that so-and-so actually works there (i.e. you may have ended up talking to someone in a Salt Lake City office but the person who called you was from the same department in a New York office) but the issue is still legitimate.
Remember, if a FRAUD department is contacting you, they should be quite pleased when you need to verify that THEY are not scammers themselves! That is, after all, what they are supposedly trying to prevent!- Caller: Maybe Chase, Maybe NOT!
- Manny| 1 replyIts not Fraud. I called Chase and they confirmed that it's a vlaid Fraud Prevention Dept no. Still call chase (don't rely any number here - go to chase.com and call customer service- even they can confirm that its a legit no.
- Anonymous replies to MannyYes, this is a real number. But still do NOT trust this kind of forum. Call the number on your card or use online customer service to verify.
- James| 1 replyTrust me, I was super suspicious about this when they first called, however I have only one bank in the US and that is Chase so I knew they weren't just guessing that I had an account. Also, as I'm with Google Fi and never submit my phone number online I am lucky to have never had a spam call (yet).
However, I had just tried to make a payment for the first time using Quick Pay a day earlier.
The lady said I had to submit my card number and PIN which in my opinion a bank should NEVER ask for, especially on an unsolicited call.
I didn't feel comfortable doing that so she said I could call the number on the back of my card, I asked if I could go into branch which she also said was fine. She seemed reasonably eager to get off the phone rather than being pushy about getting the details (which was actually a good sign!)
I checked the app and I could no longer login so that meant, to me, that the call probably was genuine so I rang the number on the back of the card and was transferred through to 'Loss Prevention'. They told me that the payment had been cancelled and my account had been blocked, he unblocked it for me on the phone so I could remake the payment. It went through the second time.
Slightly annoying a genuine transaction didn't go through but not the end of the world and this number is genuine.- Caller: Chase
- Right replies to JamesSo what brought you to this website? This is a site for reporting unknown, unwanted and nuisance calls in general. It also exposes cons and scams. Why would someone who got a call which they found to be from what they claim to be a genuine number put into this site? It does not make sense. In addition, banks make a point of telling us that they never ask for account numbers, card numbers, PINs or passwordsif they have to call us. Anyone receiving a 'phone call claiming to be from their bank should hang up, wait for about 15 minutes and then call the bank using a number they know to be correct. The reason for the wait is that the scammers leave the line open so that when you dial what you think is the correct number you are still through to the scammer.

this number called as chase fraud prevention and asked me for my full address including zip code.
*when thieves have someone's card number, they only other information they need is their billing address*
As I was stating my address, the alarms in my head started going off. I stopped myself from going any further and said I would return the call to Chase directly.
I called Chase and was transferred to fraud prevention. I was told that there were NO ALERTS on my account and that they have no record of anyone attempting to contact me.
It is possible to "ghost" telephone numbers. That's where hackers make it look like the call is coming from one number, but is actually coming from a entirely different place- sometimes from half way around the world.
An example of this- a few days ago someone was texting me asking who I was because they had a missed call from me. It was early in the morning and I knew I hadn't made any outgoing calls so far that day. I wrote this back to the other person and they sent me a screenshot of their call log showing the date/time. There was an incoming call - from my number! My call log showed NOTHING. I certainly hadn't dialed anyone.- Caller: Chase ? fraud
- LilyDon't answer. Hope FBI investigate them ASAP
- JasonAfter reading the online concerns here I just dialed the Chase main number. After speaking with a representative she did confirm that this number is legitimate. So, it's legit, but I assume that everyone will do the same thing that I did and not believe me (or anyone on this thread) anyway! Just call the main Chase number and ask for their Online Fraud department. They will confirm. Hopefully they're not calling for a real fraud event!
- Caller: Chase Online Fraud Department

- MurrayI received an unclear message from 877 691 #### and when I did a search to try to find the last 4 digits I came up with 877-691-8086 as a number from CHASE but is FRAUD. Can you verify that?
- SAThey asked me to call them.
- Caller: Chase
- SA replies to DriThe people on here saying it's real could be scam artists.
- SAAlso they said they were calling from 877 691 8086 but the caller ID said 800 691 8086.
- Caller: SA
- TIt is indeed Chase....and ironically they assisted me in someone fraudulently opening a Checking account in my name. And also assisted me in reaching out to TransUnuon whom then reached out to the other 2 credit bureaus to put 90 day fraud security on my personal information.
- Caller: CHASE BANK
