Received a call claiming to be a Chase Bank rep, saying that he had a customer who was depositing a couple of large checks and wanted to verify we did issue them.  I called Chase Business Fraud line, and was told that Chase would contact the issuing bank, not the company who wrote the check, if they needed verification like that.  So, if you get a call from 877-691-8086 or similar it's likely fraud and no matter how benign the questions are, be alert to possible scam.

I received a text from 304-941-3968  to verify a purchase made with a Chase account. I don't have a chase account, so I knew it was some sort of fraud. I then received a phone call from a real chase 1800 number shortly after. The guy on the phone sounded kind of sketchy, so I hung up and called the number back. After getting connected to a Chase employee, they verified it was a scam attempt. The scammers are spoofing their number to look like its coming from Chase Bank.

I got a call that sounded really funky from this number.  I looked here first and then called the number on the back of my debit card.  It turns out this is a legit number for Chase but the representative said to ALWAYS call a branch or the number on your card because there are so many ways for frauds to pirate legit phone numbers.

This is a legit number for Chase Fraud Security Services. When I had a problem with an ACH transaction getting held up, I started by calling the number on the back of my debit card, and the person I spoke with told me if I ever had problems with ACH transfers in the future it would be faster to call Fraud Security Services directly at 877-691-8086.

HOWEVER, remember that caller ID can easily be faked by criminals, so if you ever receive a call from this number, politely tell them you'd like to call them back yourself just to be sure you're actually speaking with Chase. They'll be 100% okay with you doing that. (If instead they get upset with you for wanting to call them back, that's a sure sign it's a scammer posing as Chase.)

Also, with regard to a older comment on this website, these days Chase actually does ask you to key in your debit card PIN on your phone keypad as a security measure. Only do it you were the one who placed the call, so you know you're actually talking to Chase.
