A phone number which has been registered with DoNotCall.gov for several years just received 5 calls from 877-886-9298, in a period of two hours. If left to go to voice mail/answering machine, the automated call hangs up. If a human response is detected by them, the call is either forwarded to a blank phone line on the other end that then after 8 seconds (or so) turns into a pre-recorded message saying that (paraphrase) "your call can not be completed as dialed. Please check the number and try again," or routed to a outsourced call center answered by someone with an Indian accent that is obstructive in attempts to garnish any valid information regarding the source of this abuse. Limited information that has been given includes that they represent "Auto Care," but refuse to give the number or location of the business. One such phone operator, who assured that his business is located in the town tied to the area code that was called, when asked for the street address of the business, responded "California." The operator refused to give their name, and when asked to never call the number again, hung up (2 subsequent calls within the hour were promptly received, both answered by a silent line followed by a high-pitched beep and a female, pre-recorded voice saying "goodbye." All 5 calls have been reported to DoNotCall.gov. Future calls will continue to be reported to DoNotCall.gov with the phone number, company, and other obtainable details. Please post to this thread if you have any other information (that includes DoNotCall.gov) that could help those who are frustrated with this abuse of private, and often registered numbers on the DoNotCall.gov database, to prevent this from happening to others.

they call more than two time a day.
also, if i pick up the phone, they cut the phone.

I've been getting these calls for the past two days.  They call late at night and early morning.  I've asked them repeatedly to stop calling.  Today I played their game.  She was calling from Auto Cares or something and wanted my information so that another guy could call and give me my quote.

She asked where I lived.  
I told her Antartica.  She laughed a little, but continued.
She asked what car I drove.
I told her I have a 1903 Ford.
She said, "uhhhhh...."
She asked what the model was.
I told her I had no idea.  It didn't run but just sat in my backyard on blocks.
She said she'd leave that blank for now.
She then confirmed my phone number, and asked for a name.

I gave her some made up name, but then she recited my phone number back.  At this point I was annoyed.
I told her to hang on a minute and I got up to get a pen and paper.

I asked her for her name.
She said, "Nancy, from Auto Cares (or whatever she says)."
I asked her for her phone number.  
She starts to get worried and says that they will be doing all the contacting between myself and their company and that there was no reason for me to have their number.

I asked for it again and to speak to her supervisor.
She says, "I think I need to go ahead and end this conversation. I'll have someone else contact you at a better time." I let her know that that is not necessary, that I'll just request a phone number where I can reach someone and discuss what they need at my convenience.  

Before hanging up she says, "Okay, thank you for your permission to have someone else call you." *Click*


Good luck with these guys.  I'll continue to answer and give them the most ridiculous answers I can, and continue to get them to give me more information about where they are and how to contact them so that I can complete a full report.

Calls all day and all weekend.  Never answer.   Hope they finally give up but expect it to take a year or so.  I really doubt that reporting it will do any good.  It's been my experience that the Do Not Call people are just there for their paychecks.  By the time they get enough to use the "business" has changed names and numbers.  What we really need is blocking on our phones.  It's crazy we can't do that yet.

It was a Indina speaking man, and you could hear other callers in the back ground. He wanted to give me an insurance quote, and ask what my auto insurance was,. And he said he wanted to asure me he wasn't going to sell me anything. When I just hung up on him.

PHISHING SCAM!!!  Just received a call from this number from a VERY thick Indian accent that I couldnt understand one word. Eventually he gave the phone to his supervisor who spoke better English but still pretty rough. He informed me that he was with Auto Cares??? and congratulations as a result of my good driving i would save 35%.

He then started asking me to confirm things like zip code (which was wrong), then asked for my correct zip code and address (which i refused to give him). Then when i said they were obviously calling for someone else, he said, "no we are calling for you" and then he proceeded to ask my name. I gave him a fake 1st name and then he said, "yes, this is who we are calling for" even though i gave a fake name. I then asked him what number he was trying to call and he said, "yours".  I asked him for the exact number he was trying to reach and he got all 10 digits wrong and when i said he was wrong, he asked for my correct phone number. At that point, i said, i dont think so and he hung up.

Seems pretty obvious that this was a phishing scam where they were trying to get you to tell them your personal information.

Im sick of them calling me three or four times a day, no one there and when i try to call back call just ends, like to stick my foot

THEY ALWAYS CALL AND THEN NO ONE ON THE ... OR ALWAYS BUSY..PLEASE STOP!!!!!

**Note:  Here is how to stop all calls like this....forever. Go to "Google Voice" and enroll in a free lifetime phone number. You can then use that number for everything. When you buy a cell phone, forward to the cell number and never give out the real cell number. This allows you to forward to many different phones at the same time and the first phone you answer with, answers the call. NOW, the best part is you can take this number that is harassing you and "block it" in the Google Voice account, and it will never ring through. You can do that with any calls from anyone you don't wish to answer. In fact, you can use their standard recording that says the line is no longer in service. This is a great FREE service. I have used it since the beginning and have gone through at least 5 different cell phones and never missed a beat. Friends and family always know the number they can reach you, at home or on the go....it's the same number. Google Voice has numerous other features, also. I hope this helps you all. It sure did me!

Super harassing phone calls! I refuse to answer numbers I don't know. They have called 7 times with in 3 hours. When I tried to return the call to tell them to stop, I got a message from Verizon that the call was unable to be completed.

They have called my cell four times.  They leave no message.

This number started showing up on my phone the same time another one did.2092338864. Realy anoying. no way to contact them back. there should be a way to file charges on these jokers.

Theres a posability this # is also tide to another I continue to receive. 209-233-8864 wich is a California #. They both continue to call my cell phone sometimes evry other call comes from these two numbers and can continue for hours.

I received this call at 9:07 pm.  Which is illegal in the state of PA after 9:00 pm.  No one answered when I said hello.

I have gotten 10 plus calls so far from this number, and the last call was at 12:05 AM.........I hope I don't find out who it is calling like this an no message on top of it....i'm on a do not call list an its unlawful to call, I will press charges or hope some1 else does n push it to the full extent of the law too.

The guy at this number (877 886 9298) dropped The F*** bomb on me!  Oh, how I would love to know to whom this number belongs. Isn't there a law against this type of call from a telemarketer?  I am on a no-call list, also.

Also got a call from that California number previously posted. A few, actually.
I've never answered any of either numbers' calls and they do not leave voicemails. I installed an app on my phone to block these numbers, however.

Indian fellow, selling auto insurance. Had the wrong name. Called me a mother f$%ker when I told him I wasn't interested. Real classy fellow.
