Today, August 24, 2010, I just spoke to a Sears representative at 1-800-361-6665. He confirmed that it is a defective (?!) automatic dialing system that called me at my number at least twice a day for the last month or so. Why? Because, apparently, I am still registered with them as having a cottage in Quebec. I sold it years ago. The rep told me he was deactivating the file, so I would not receive any more calls. We'll see.

I got the same call.  I tracked it down to be:  Sears Protection Agreement Department.  When looking that up:  It is for appliances - probably an extended warrenty.

I called Sears (1-866-491-2247) to complain about their unsolicited calls.  My call was immediately answered on the first ring by someone with an Indian/Pakistani accent.  As soon as I mentioned the phone number (877-889-2024), she immediately began typing, then told me it would take "three or four days" for the calls to stop.  The NERVE of these people!!!

SEARS, if you are reading this:  If you want to [***] what customers you have, just keep spamming us with your unsolicited calls!

Yes it was Sears trying to see an extended warranty for an item recently purchased.

We have phones that can block calls.  It basically hangs up on them automatically (Panasonic KX-TGA740C is the model of the phone).  The call would still ring once then block it.  Like many of you, I got fed up with all these calls so searched for what it was.  We recently bought a washing machine at sears and i guess they are following it up.  I called the number and was on hold for ~30 seconds.  I asked them to remove my number and another 30 seconds it was done.  I said thank you and she said "Have a good day."  Each night in between 7:54 p.m. and 7:56 p.m. I would get a call.

When I picked up the other day, there was no one on the other end, really what do they want every day every time around 11:00

called in the morning, AGAIN and after I answered no one on the other end.

I'm sick of this number calling and leaving a hang up on my voice mail or when I do answer at night I get dead air. They call several times in the day when I'm not home. The USA don't allow these sort of calls why does Canada allow it????

Just received a call from this number 877-889-2024, when I phoned back to block them...it was Sears Canada.  Probably calling for an extended warranty on an item we bought lately, as someone else mentioned happened to them.

The number belongs to sears Canada. They will try to sell you a warranty.

I just pick up and mumble - which makes them say, "Hello? Hello?" - then I yell like hell any unintelligible non word sound and hang up. Great fun. They don't call back more than once. Air Horns that are available from a Dollar store are perfectly legal to blow into the receiver. Enjoy

ROTFL and you believed this? You deserve as many calls as you get from this number.

I'm the 'IT Team' at my company and had a user complain that this number kept calling his work cell phone with dead air just as everyone has described.

I called the number and was told that my user had purchased a washing machine this year and they were trying to sell him the extended warranty. I asked her to have it stop as this is a work cell phone and that if he wants the warranty he can call them himself.

She agreed and said she would stop the calls.  We shall see......

This department will be prepared with all the necessary information to handle your request.

The hours for the Customer Advocacy department are Monday - Saturday 8:00am - Midnight and Sunday 10:00am - 8:00pm (EST).

I have called the above number, spoken with a representative, and will give their automated system one more week to stop calling. If the calls continue (day and night) I will be contacting the media and CRTC  and reporting SEARS as an abuser of the "Do Not Call List". "Olsen on your side" I'm sure would love to do a Global BC TV story on what a wonderful corporate citizen Sears Canada is.
