i have gotten a dozen calls -  Earthlink - i went to their website, started a live chat ..they said they would not call me anymore.  (I do not use Earthlink, I have no account with them).

I left a message a while ago, and read those dreadful stories re Earthlink support. I'm back here now, to tell you that this number: 855-903-2028 reached a pleasant human at Earthlink. He begged my patience while he sought an answer, and, believe it or not, returned in a while to say that the call comes from Pakistan without Earthlink's participation. I'm afraid I'd been a bit testy, fearing the worst, but he couldn't have been more patient or polite. He had an Asian accent by the way. He promised they have a way to block them from further calls. We'll see, of course. But I really think he was sincere.

Receiving calls as many as 6 times a day.  Requested it stop, no response.  I have never had an account with company.

This company has called me 24 times in 6 days, I finally told them if they call me again I am going to get a lawyer!

I have created a new contact on my phone and called it "Junk / Spam" This way when I get called I know right away I don't need to answer it. ;-)

I get the same, they do not let me pick up the phone. I called them back to take me off the call list. They said it would take 24-48 hours and if I called in the meantime, it would put me back on.  I'm filing a complaint with the FCC as I am on the do not call list and they have been contact.  They call at least 5X a day at all hours.  This is EarthLink's phone number.

I got a call from this number that said I had written a hot check in 2006 for $300 and they were sueing me.  issues one being statue of limitations, 2. the store they said I wrote the check too had gone out of business 4 years before, the checking account they said I used had been closed years before that?  How weird is that, said if I thought it was a fraudulent claim I would need to prove it in court.  said they had sent me letters.  None of above is true except for the threats they were making.  

This is an earthlink# and they will call about an expired cc, but only if the e-mail they have on file for you bounces.
Having said that...  crooks, especially off-shore crooks using VOIP can set their caller ID to be any number they want.
so crooks can fake the # and pretend to be an earthlink customer service rep all in a scam to get your cc#
if you get this call, even if you think it's valid, tell them you will update your cc info on-line. DO NOT GIVE any unsolicited caller your cc#.
if you are not sure it is a real earthlink person, ask them to give you the last 4 digits of your account#, then check your statement.
I was called twice from people who clearly were crooks, asking a few questions caused them to hang up.
I'm not a huge fan of earthlink but they do have to follow the rules in the US.
If you are going to get mad at earthlink, get mad because they do nothing to track these crooks down.

Annoying 3-4 times a day from "toll free number".  I added to my block list and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  Please file a complaint!!!

calls and calls never a message!

Got a call from this number today.  They left a message.  Accent is from India so couldn't understand him.  Says he will call back tomorrow because he is calling about an issue I have with my e-mail.  This is Earthlink who handles PeoplePC.  Thank heavens they only have my home phone & not my cell.  Will never answer it.

Purportedly it was from Earthlink checking on my payments, which are automatically paid every month.  When I called back they wanted: 1. the last 4 digits of my American Express cared - I said no; 2.  The secret word for my account; 3.  my password.  I told them no to each request and said that no legitimate company would ask for those things.  This was all after she allegedly identified me by my office phone number.  I hung up on her.  She had an Indian accent.
