Yup, they're still at it but this time with a female (voice) leaving a message to call them back at 1-888-375-0275.  I seem to get one of these calls once every 3 or 4 months.  Funny thing is that the cell phone that I have is one of my wife's business cell phones; I use the cell phone only to take calls from my wife and daughters and have not given the number out to anyone else!

My calls have not been coming from that number, but definately from the Takhar Group.  I have gotten 3 or 4 calls over the course of 2 weeks.  The people have a strong accent.  They say they want to reach my husband for an important business matter.  they will not disclose me any information.  I know if something is in collections or that important, they are going to want to speak to anyone in the household who can help to pay the debt. I asked them to send some mail correspondance for my husband, but they said they represent someone who had sent something in the mail.  My husband had been on sick leave awhile ago, and when bills were running behind, creditors always spoke directly to me with out me being on accounts.  Why won't this "financial group" speak to a spouse?  I told them unless we see something in writing, we will not return their calls.

the Takhar company is a debt collection agency that is employed by BMG.  I contacted bMG about the annyoing calls.  They confirmed that they do indeed use them for collection of outstanding debts owed to them.  Just to let everyone know.  If you think you owe BMG, you can deal with them directly instead of the intimidating people.  bMG let me know exactly what was owed and I am sending to them not Takhar group.  I still wouldn't give Takhar any info over the phone.  Just to inform you all.

I got a call from 866-408-8299.  I ignored it and they left a message saying they were the TAKAR GROUP and it was urgent that I call them back.  I did and noone answered.  Who is this?? Why are they calling my cell phone?  I would not give them any information if they call you, not even your name!!!

I had a call from this company today, it was a "Tom" that called me telling me to call him back by 5pm to discuss my file with them. I don't have anything on file with this company. I wish ppl like this would STOP calling!!!!!! It's annoying!!!

I receive a call everyday from this number claiming to be TGC/TCS/Takhar Collection Services. The people have indian accents or middle eastern accents but names like "Phillip Thomas"...yeah right! I got so annoyed that I registered my number on the do-not-call list. But they still call, but now it shows up on the called ID as "out of area" or "unknown". They insist that I owe $256.27 to Shop at Home. I asked them what credit card was used for the purchase or what item was purchased...they said they could not send verification of this. I told them they had the wrong person, I did not have an account with shop at home, nor did I purchase anything from them for that amount. They said once that it was affecting my credit report, then on another call they threaten to report it to the credit agengies. Which is it??? I told them that I check my credit quite often and that nothing like that is showing on there. They asked me to send them a copy of my credit report to them so they can "verify" that. I asked them for a physical address, but refused to give me one. They said I could fax it. They are very rude on the phone. Today after the most recent call from "Phillip" I was extremely pissed. I told him up front that this call was being recorded. He then became irate and told me that I could not record the call because HE didn't give me authorization to record the call. I told him it was my phone and I can record any damn call I please. And I declared that I was recording the call up front, and that it was his choice whether he wanted to continue, or he can hang up. He then put me on hold so he could verify this from his supervisor. He then came back to continue with the debt I owed. I told him that they were violating the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about, he just kept saying "uh-huh", and continued to argue. I then asked for a physical address again so that I could send a formal verification letter that this account was not mine. He then said "Ok have a nice day" and hung up without giving me anymore info. I decided to find out what I could about this so called "collection agency". I called the number back to see what company or person I got. It was TGC. I pretended to be another person returning one of their phone calls. I gave them a random number off the top of my head, and as suspected he could not find my account info in the system. He asked if I was calling about the DVD debt with Columbia House...I playingly agreed. I told him that I wanted to send a payment, and to give me the address where I could send it. He quickly gave me an address : 1623 Military Road Niagra Falls, NY 16203. He also gave me an account "reference number" to include with the payment. I asked him how he was able to give me a reference # if my account info wasn't showing up with the fake # I just gave him. He then got nervous and was stumbling for words, then said he made a mistake. YEAH RIGHT! You just got busted SCAM ARTIST SCUMBAG! I wonder how many people fall for this scam?! BE WARNED! Anyway, I filed a complaint with the do not call registry and the FCC. Hopefully they will quit calling, b/c I work nights and sleep during the day!

Now he's got it wired so there's no number on the caller ID- just a bunch of zero's. An Indian sounding guy, now going by the name of Steve Austin, barely understandable, has been calling daily and weekly for months now, despite the fact the I am unwilling to pay him the $33.00 he claims he is collecting for The Takkar Group. A false balance from  Columbia House from the year 2000! When I ask for a company phone number (to give to the police for harassment) he gives me a number that is out of service. He claims to be in Niagra Falls, NY, but I'm sure that is a lie as well. I have spoken with customer service at Columbia House. They have promised to contact their collection agency to put an end to the false claim, which makes me suspicious. Did Columbia House sell a bunch a bogus claims? And this guy who is calling us- is he somehow hacking into their computer system and trying to collect from the names in the system? Is there anyone else out there interested in putting this hacker behind bars?

I also received a call and can confirm the calls from this number are coming from TakharGroup and are legit however when I and others ask for written documentation they are supposed to provide this.

These are REAL collections issues people. I just dealt with it. BMG has a shotty record of telling people that their account is settled but not settling it in their computer. If you have done anything with BMG and even if you have settled your account with them, get the original account number from this John Baker guy  (DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!!!) and call BMG at 317-692-9200  and figure out why you were sent to this collection agency. They are a REAL collection agency meaning if you ignore this account long enough it will go on your credit report and has gone on many peoples credit reports regardless of whether your debt is legit or not. The people at this Indian collections agency are real A holes but stand your ground, demand your original BMG account number (Because odds are BMG wont be able to find record of you without it) ignore their BS about not being able to fix it through BMG and their advice to pay it now and then worry about refunding your card later when everything is taken care of, call BMG get it taken care of and get the employee ID of the person you talked to and their first name (since for some reason they don't have confirmation numbers for this thing). DO NOT IGNORE THESE CALLS! I made that mistake and it just about crapped out my credit score until I was forced to call them and get the mistake taken care of. I can't stress enough not giving these people any payment information and not paying a dime until you know for sure that you owe a debt, which from my experience you probably don't.

We got a call today...on the cell phone as well...they left a message...voice automated..."This is the Takhar Group calling, you must call us right away @ 866-408-8299 between the hours of 8-5 eastern standard time, or action would be taken on my file without me having a final say."....What do you guys think, scam?  I am glad I looked this company up, I will be very cautious if I am able to reach anyone.  They left no name or what it was it was directly regarding, so Thank you all so much for posting this infomration.

They call me from this Takhar group collecters, they tell me that I owe money to BMG colombia House. They keep calling me everyday asking me for my credit card number, which I've denied. They tell me that I have to pay otherwise my record will me dirty for 7 years!!!! Please tell them to stop!!!

Ive been victim of fraud before, so I reserve the right to provide any info to anyone on tel, cels or emails. I called for an invoice, they didn't want to. As far as I know, as long as I'm willing to pay, they cannot send anything to anyone. I'm not on denial, but it's just werid that a collection agency won't help to collect a debt, but force you to pay.

I've received two calls from an "unknown" number. The caller says his name is Gary Hastings, who says that he is with Takhar Group, and that it is "paramount" that I return his call as soon as I get the message.  I find ALL unsilited calls extremely annoying, so I called the number he left (518-694-5465) with the intention of telling to STOP CALLING me. It was apparently after their "office" hours, however, and I got their automated voicemail system. The voice sounded foreign...Possibly Indian, as someone else stated here. The voice mailbox they directed me to was "full."  I was directed to call back another time.

I decided to get on the computer and do a reverse look-up on the phone number. The results showed the number as "unpublished", and had no other information. (No name, no company) It did come with a MAP showing the location of that number as being in, or near, Rensellear, NY.

After that I searched "Gary Hastings" and found ONE result...a 51 year old living in Scotia (the map shows him in Schenectady).  I've got half a mind to call that guy's home number and give him a taste of his own (annoying) medicine! But, I fear that could backfire on me, so I won't. (after reading the comments here, I wonder if "Gary Hastings" is involved, or if the scammers are using his name without his knowledge or consent)

Since I couldn't understand the company name from the answering machine message they left, I had to do several internet searches on similar sounding names. Those searches eventually led me here, and I'm GLAD they did!

I found another thread here for the number 518-694-5465 that's directly related to this one.

"Gary Hastings" was actually "Jerry Hastings." I apparently misheard the name. I looked up "Jerry Hastings", and of 3 results, only ONE appears likely to be the person making these calls.

I have been getting there phone calls now for about 2 month 3 or 5 times a week. They asked to be called back so I finely got threw to some one. First they did not know my name they called me by Tracey Sanford when I told them that was not my name they said then what is your name so I said Cindy and was stupid enough to give them my last name. At any rate they said that I was the person they were trying to reach and that I owed Virgin mobile $598.00 the odd thing is I have never had a Virgin phone I have always had Verizon wireless. They said not to worry that all I need to do was give them my credit card information and they would make $60.00 dollar a month payment out of my account until it was paid off.I kept saying that I did not owe them any money. So then he asked me for my Social Security number to verify the information on my account. I told them I do no give that out and they said that they needed it to confirm the amount owed. He said I must give him my credit card information social security number and checking account information to start paying off this money or that they would take me to court. I asked them to mail me the statement with my name saying that I owed this amount. He said he was not allowed to do that and that he would keep calling my phone until I paid them. Very rude and all though he had an American name he had a very thick Indian accent. It was all very odd since I have never been delinquent on my bills and have a very good credit score. As a mater of fact I had my credit report done in September when I bought my new home and there were no outstanding or delinquent bills. I really think this might be some sort of SCAM its very sad if it is because they are very convincing and I would hate for someone to get Scammed by them  and get there identity stolen.

i called back a number on my caller id of 877-466-5701.  the "welcome" message stated that they were the takhar group of companies (?) so i waited for a person and got punjabi bob or john or whoever the crap it was.  he asked for me but mispronounced my name.  so i just said whats it in reference to.  he replied it is a personal matter let me talk to [me]...of course i said no i wasn't here he asked if we were related i said no he asked for a better number to reach me on and i just laughed and said why in the world would you think i would give out any of his info to you having no idea who you are or what you're up to?  he asked when he would be able to reach me and i just said good luck...caller id just states 800 Service and 877-466-5701

This number, 866-408-8299, has been calling me for months now, approximately 3-5 times weekly.  I've never answered but they do leave an automated message stating thye're the Takar Group and it is urgent I call them back between the hours of 8-4:30am EST.  And if I don't call it may result in a decision on a file without my input.  What a load of crap!  So I call back, because I've had enough.  First thing I get is this fast paced, chipmunk sounding recording that says my call is very important.  Then after being asked to hold for the next representative a recording comes on to leave a message.  Oh yea, I left a message alright.  And you know what else, I'll keep calling back and leaving messages, any chance I get. Hell I'll harrass them as much as they do me! Blow up that machine!  They should be reported to the Better Business Group or FCC, they can do more research and possible shut them do. Thanks.

we got a call from 18004331914 today and they were rude and it was a Austin Lee calling with a india type accent from new york..niagra falls area..says he was a collections agency...needed to discuss important info...we all have no bills to pay on credit.. so what could it be? asked for supervisor.. would not do so.. we called our lawyer.. then we researched the name and it is scam like... so lawyer called them and said stop calling us or they would come after them with legal ways...very rude man on other end and challenging us .. so be ware.. give no info to these .. at all.. call your lawyer and report or the phone company or attorney general in your state!

These people are so full of it! They told me that I would have to go to the Bank of America get a deposit slip, fill it out and deposit the cash into their account! Red flag! Then they stated that they wouldn't send a letter verifying their claim! Red Flag!The had no details, no account number, nothing! How rude!!!!
