I received an urgent phone message regarding my ex-husband from whom I've been divorced for nearly 20 years. I am not responsible nor interested in taking care of his final expenses. Let one of his subsequent wives/girlfriends/or a family member foot the bill. I guess Ascension Point is desperate enough to track down anyone. I was told I would not receive any more phone calls. We'll see. I will report them if they persist.

I knew something was weird when they asked whose estate I was calling about. When they couldn't find his name they looked up the account through the number that they had called me (my mother's number). I'll keep posting if they keep calling.

Called about the estate of someone I have never hear of.  Told them they had the wrong number and that if they called back I'd report them.  Blocked their number.

I too received a call from this Company. They informed me I was not personally liable for the debt of my Husband, but inquired if there was a probate or an estate. My Husband left no estate but this is an honest debt that I wanted to take care of. They informed me payments would be voluntary, and I was able to settle the debt that my Husband owed to honor our name.
These people have a right to be calling. It is a debt owed, and they are informing family they are not liable only an estate. The Rep was very compassionate, respectful and polite.
Have respect for all people. They are just doing there job and following up on valid debts owed.

I know how they are getting phone numbers to call. My wife's mother passed away recently. Today Ascension Point called MY mother trying to collect a debt. There is absolutely no connection between these two women... they only met once, other than flowers my mother sent to the funeral. They are calling the florists pretending to be family of the deceased to obtain phone numbers of the people who sent flowers so they can harass them to pay a bill that god only knows if it's real.

It is illegal for a bill collector to discuss a debt with anyone other than the debtor. If they are legitimately owed money they have to get it from the estate.

It is illegal for a bill collector to falsely identify themselves.

It is illegal for a bill collector to call a phone number that is registered with the national do-not-call list unless it is the phone number of the individual who owes them money.

This makes these people criminals 3 times over. Do not EVER pay them or give them any information.

I got a call from them regarding a deceased friend of my daughter's whom we have seen in probably 10 years -- no idea how they got my home phone number, since it's unlisted and fairly new.  Her death was caused by an accident and I made a couple comments on the website the hospital hosted for family and friends to get news on her condition when she was dying.  Could they have pulled names illegally that way???  In any case, collectors can not force you to pay for deceased family member's debts even if you are the executor of the will or are named in the will or are a spouse or child -- no reason at all.  If they are legit, they know how to get to the attorney or the state for those who have passed with no will.  Calling anyone else to get money supposedly owed is ILLEGAL and a SCAM.

my husband passed away exactly 2 weeks ago today and i got a call from these people so i googled them and found this site.  The call was on my answering machine so i called it back to find out what/who they were.  I told them they will have to deal with my attny.  I'm not even going to deal with them.  Not yet cold in the grave and they are calling.

I hope you did not pay any money to this company.  They are scamming you!   If your mother had passed away you are not responsible for her debt.  Please research this further.

My husband died a year ago, Sept 11. I have gotten at least 30 calls from Ascension Point.  When you call the number back, you get a recording. I never took his name when we got married.  We kept our credit cards separate.  When he passed, he left me enough to cremate him.  These were his debts, so I wouldn't pay them if I did have the money. I also put the no-call number in my cell-phone and they are still calling.

I am getting phone calls regarding the man who used to own my house.  I am in no way connected/related to him.  Who are these jokers anyway?

I am so glad to read posts regarding this annoying illegal operation. How can I report them to higher level authorities and also block their number? I am divorced from the deceased.

I am a receptionist for a rather large company located in Penna. I just received a recorded call looking for the relatives of a former employee (retired in 2003, passed away 2005). Ascension Point sounded like a rather pleasant personal care facility. Imagine my surprise when I googled the name and all this information came up.  Keep up the good work by allowing people the knowledge that they don't have to be taken advantage of by scam artists.

Ive gotten several calls from this greedly #@!%& company trying to pretend that they have money for an estate...they are calling for my exwife's father in California..I live in Fla and NEVER met her father and we have been divorced since 1995...so 15 yrs later they are calling and I have no idea where my ex wife is and wouldnt tell them if I did. Real low life scumbuckets.

I received a voicemail last night from this company stating to call 1-888-420-7673 X7049 and speak with Kerry Evans about my "Online Application" for work. Glad I decided to research this because I dont remember putting in an Employment Application with any Company that goes by Realtors International..

Its tough out here to find a job and that is a very mean scam to get personal information. I will not be calling back. Thank you everyone

Your relative probably didn't even owe the money. They called fishing for information so they could file a claim in Probate court. I know for a fact my Mom didn't owe anything. Don't talk to this MN based company or you create a mess.

A new low!!!!! I received a call stating they were looking for the person handleing the estate of the late; and they used my mothers name,( Minnie not a common name). I freaked!!!! because I had not spoken with her in about a week and a half. She lives alone could something have happened? I called her right away, THANK GOD she answered the phone and was fine, deffinately NOT deceased!!!!! What kind of company does that? I can respect the job they have to do........NOT THE TECHNIQUES their using. Again I say....WHO DOES THAT?

Vulture, scumbag, lowlife spineless creatures..  all these phone reps need to find real jobs.  Hope someday they get several phone calls EVERY DAY from companies just like the one they work for.  They are calling about my late mother in-law... funny they called everyone but the lawyer handling everything.

They are not legit.  My dad is NOT dead and I get called twice a week.  So does he!

Of coarse their going to be nice to work with, they are trying to get money from you. By law unless you are a co-signer to any accounts you don't have to pay for any debts for the deceased. This complany is trying to go outside the law to get debts from deceased individuals families. Thats why people are writing more negative things to say, because in the end this company is in the wrong.
