These people keep calling my dad and telling him that they are pursuing me for check fraud.   When I contacted them, they said that I owe for an online payday loan from 2007.  I asked for some sort of information and/or proof of this debt.   The lady got very rude.  She told me that she doesn't care if I pay it or not.  Everybody acts like they have no idea what she is talking about.  She is just going to record that I refuse to pay and all of my accounts, government aid, etc. will be frozen.  I may even lose my home and car.  Finally she put me over to her supervisor (Randy Pfeiffer) and he recited an old address and the last 4 digits of my social security number and asked me how else would he know this information unless it was legitimate.  He told me that the only information he had was the payday loan company's name and I could google it and call them for more information.  I googled it while on the phone with him and told him that I didn't find an online payday company by that name.  I questioned him further and finally got his name and the fact that he is a collection agency.  I told him that I was going to check with my brother who is a lawyer to see if he can help me get more information.  He told me that lawyers don't scare him and that I could tell my brother to call him and he will give him the same information that he gave me.  Very rude.

I just received a phone call from a private number and they left a voice mail from Michael Murdock as well. He told me my fiance was being charged with check fraud and was I was a person of interest in this case and he had me on a recording giving falsified information so we were both being summoned to court unless I contacted him by 2 today. I then immediately called to figure out what was going on since my fiance was at work and I couldn't talk to him about it. A woman answered the phone (not giving the company name just her own), and she said the investigator on the case was out to lunch and she could have him call me in about 30 min. He never returned my phone call it is now after 2 and I've called back twice and no one has answered. They wouldn't give me any information on the case because Michael was the only one who could disclose any information. All while this was going on I called my step dad who is a sheriffs deputy in our county (which is where Michael said he was the lead investigator of fraud) and he said he had never heard of him and if it was from this county it would have been a local number. So that got me curious because my step dad knows EVERYONE in this town. I then googled it and found this site. I am sad to say we already set up payments and have paid them money but they will definitely not be getting anymore from us. I also talked to my mother in law and Thomas Whitaker had been calling her as well leaving threatening voicemails about the same thing. This has to stop. Times are hard enough without people calling and threatening others to pay money they don't even owe. Not only that but the time and place in which they said the check was cashed my fiance wasn't anywhere near that place and hadn't been there since right out of high school. This is definitely a lesson learned and I hope my story along with these others reaches people before they give out money to these scammers!

    Stop Giving these Scammers Money!
The reason that these people keep doing this is because people keep paying them. Stop paying these people. Stop taking their calls. Screen their calls. Tell your family members to stop talking to these folks and not to give out ANY information under ANY circumstance.Let your family and emplyers know that this is an identity theft type of situation.

I have read through all of these messages and the statute of limitations has run out on any of these debts even if they were valid at one time. So they can't sue anyway.
Anytime these people call let them know that you are recording the call and that you will record any and ALL of their calls.

If you have paid them money then you need to close down that account. Do not give these people your SSN under any circumstances. If they have your SSN then you need to place a fraud alert on your credit reports. They are using scare tactics and they keep doing it because its working for them. Contact the AG in your state, the local district attorney, file an FTC complaint and file a complaint with the BBB.

Make sure you cancel your debit card ASAP! I just hope that you didn't give them a routing number and account number. I was able to call Suntrust and cancel my debit card after paying "Regional Arbitration" $50. After they figured out the card didn't work for any other payments, that when they started calling my old numbers and my job. But I let people on to their scheme though. Thank God for Google!!
