- Need Some HelpI'm currently unemployed and I have some Credit Card Debt that I've neglected to pay. It just became a habit and I literally forgot to pay it after a while. I don't think I've made a payment in 9 months and honestly it's my fault for not taking care of it. I received a Notice of Authority To File Suit in the mail today. I owe a little over $3000 and they said I must pay off the entire amount in about 10 days or legal action will commence. I intend on paying this debt back and can probably pay $1500, maybe $2000 of it off before 10 days. It would be difficult to pay the full amount though. Seeing some of the stories on here of them not willing to negotiate has made me hesitant to call and try to settle with them with a possible payment plan.
I'm just trying to find out what happens if I ignore this letter or if I make a partial payment. Also, would it be useful in anyway to contact the Credit Card company and try to make arrangements with them instead? I'm not even sure who I'm supposed to be paying the debt to at this point. Thanks for any help in advance.- Caller: CCL Financial

- kenI have read these entries regarding CCL Finance. I have little experience with credit collection but I am attempting to assist an elderly and somewhat frail sister who has run up a considerable credit card debt. Her health and medications make it difficult for her to deal with this and she has no way of repaying it so I suggest to her that she request the various callers to call me. If they send her a letter, I respond with all her medical and financial details and if they call I politiely explain the circumstances and the fact that the debts are insoluable from what I can see. Legal action would entail costs but no recovery as she has no attachable assets.
What I try to explain to her is not to ignore the calls and letters. Respond or redirect them to me. The collectors do get a bit upset but I think they see the futiltiy which is not to say they can quit calling. The account will probably stay in their inventory until it is collected or it moves up the ladder. This is all about money. Some collectors take it too personally and some debtors do so as well but in the end it is about the money. Keep it business-like, if payment is possible make a reasonable offer, do not dictate what you are willing to pay, if not clearly explain why it is not possible to make any reasonable payment at this time. Most of them work on commission so their strategy is clear and resolution of some type is to their benefit as it is to the debtor.
Blocking calls, ignoring contacts and letters may seem like a good strategy but in the end, eventually the debt has to be resolved either by the debtor filing an assignment in bankruptcy or a consumer proposal or making satisfactory payment, or the credit grantor may write the debt off as uncollectable. The calls should stop once some kind of agreement is made and that seems like a good outcome.
And you should file a complaint with the Ontario Government if the contacts are abusive, made at inappropriate times or repetative to the point of being harassment. Repetative does imply though that you have personally responded to a call or letter. Alway ask for the name of the person calling and keep a record of what was said and what agreements may have been made. It is the debtor that gives rise to this process so the debtor has to be part of the solution.- Caller: CCL Financial

- TINI am a fraud credit card vitcim back in 2010. The collector called Cachia from this company have called me now and state that I own that credit card bill and DEMANDED/FORCED me to pay for the bill before the deadline that SHE GAVE ME. This case has already been report to police already. Even Equifax and TransUnion have my fraud bill removed already which proof that I am not the debtor, but they still call me and harrass me with no proof or even paper which suppose send to me first by-law before they call me. I have talk to some professional in the same industry and with my lawyer have some advise from them as well that the way how to collector try to collet money from me is not right and she could lost her licence. Please be aware of this company and dont let them scare you or harrass you if you believe you dont own any money from them. And ALWAYS ask for some professional advise.

- Tammy replies to AKWatch this company even if you settle with them they will later put someone on your credit file that you still owe money and will refuse to make corrections and here in Canada Equifax allows these companies to do whatever they want and put whatever they want on your file. You have to fight tooth and nail to have the corrections made and its not easy. I have been trying for over a year to have them make a correction so now I'm filing a complaint with the Ministry of Consumer Services.

- PinkGaiaSo i get home after work and the phone rings, i dont answer cause i was busy and i knew the answering machine would get it. An automated machine leaves a message stating to call this number with this case file. So i call them back and the guy tells me "which number did you call from" I gave my number they called me on, he replies "There's no number in our system saying we called there". Then he hangs up on me.. Like wow.
- PinkGaia replies to DEBTORI just got a call from their number about 20 minutes ago, I DID call them back and guess what i got they fking hung up on me saying "we never called you" Like clearly they either dont have their shyt together or something is messed up. Because they hav my name but when i call back they say im not in their system.
- Money PoorI receive threatening calls on a daily basis and get yelled at. This company is not professional and should be stopped.

- KsaK| 1 replyI received a call from this number several times and tried ignoring it at first but finally gave in and answered and am glad I did. They were working on behalf on MBNA on a credit card debt that I racked up and and due to being a student was struggling to pay off. The women I spoke with Lynette was very kind and understand and not at all harassing or rude as some other have stated. She worked with me to come up with a payment arrangement I could work with and I am happy to say I have now cleared this debt.
So if you legitimately owe money do not avoid these phone calls. Face up to it and you won't have to face a law suit and possible wage garnishment.- Caller: CCL

- Gotta| 1 replyI spoke with Kirk McCann from CCL, he was not a bad guy at first, even worked out a payment for an old account. I went to the bank, and they told me it was basically me depositing money into an account, and not to do it (because there is no tracking). I called Kirk to let him know, and he freaked out. Started threatening me, telling me he was sending me to legal, I have to pay that day etc. When I told him the bank recommended me to not do it, he said "yeah, that will hold up in court". Told me I was being sent to legal, asked me if I held title on anything and hung up. Calls me a week later saying he was playing a game, wanted to make me sweat it out, now I have to pay. That money was long gone to other bills, and he wouldn't have it. Recently he called my work and harassed the receptionist, saying she was hiding me and she was an accomplice! Ridiculous! I would have been game to set up a payment plan, but this guy is ridiculous!

- Not related replies to DEBTORBeen getting calls for 4 YEARS!!! for someone who is in no way related to me but because we have the same last name and lived in the same small town 2 YEARS ago, every collection agency that this goes through, and it has been upwards of 15, gives me a call. So what I would like to say, is stop posting for your business and suck me. Obviously I have told EVERY SINGLE one I have answered that we are in no way related and yet you dumb bottoms continue to ignore the notes and add my number. Excuse me if I fail to be polite to your veiled threats on my voice mail. Once again, suck me.
