just got a call from this number after ordering a macbook from amazon. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. not sure why they called me.

Caller from India claimed to be from Amazon wanting to confirm an order that I'd recently placed. I'm certain it's a scam as my order went through just fine without me confirming anything. Like many of the other comments here, I got this phone call just minutes after placing an order for a fairly expensive item.

While I did not confirm anything to the caller, I'm concerned about the amount of information that they had and I wonder if Amazon has somehow been compromised. I would be incredibly surprised if my login details were compromised as both my email and Amazon accounts have 2-factor authentication with long randomly generated passwords that are both completely unique to their respective accounts.

Got a call from the exact number as well, didn't pick it up. Luckily I read this thread now, won't be picking it up if they try to call again. Will be monitoring my credit card. Thanks guys

I recently got called by this number as well, did not attend the call as I don't know anyone from india but from the looks of everyone else it seems to be a scam. be careful out there

Purchased a spa on Amazon this morning, and within minutes received a call from this number. I did not answer, but they actually  had the guts to leave me a voicemail. It was a man, with an Indian accent, wanting to verify my purchase. I immediately called Amazon and was told that no one from their company called me and left a message. They also said that they never contact their customers and ask for any type of information. I also contacted my credit card servicer and asked them to keep an eye on my account.
If people have enough intelligence to do things like this, it might be nice if they used it for the better good.

called me about 5-6 times because i was not gonna answer a strange looking number from india. why is this happening? shouldn't amazon fix this?

Had this number call me 8 times in a row, didn't answer, googled the number instantly and came here. I have placed an Amazon order last night, so I'm a bit worried, but 8 times in a row, isn't that some form of harassment??

This was a genuine call from an Amazon representative in Bangalore. The woman who called simply asked "What did you order earlier today?". I answered vaguely and she thanked me then hung up. No personal info was given or asked. I contacted Amazon to double check and they reassured me that it was standard practice.

They did to one of my mates it's bang out of order

Also got this call. ordered @ amazon.de. I have contacted Amazon via chat. After few minutes of investigation they confirmed me that this is an official number from Amazon located in India...

Got a call saying they were from Amazon and wanted to confirm my order. Left me a voicemail. They called again 15min later and when I answered the person wanted a confirmation number for the Amazon order. When I didn't give it, they repeated the last 4 digits of my card number and the amount owed. Called Amazon and was told they do not call unless we request it

I have been called by this number on 3 gift cards confirming  that one was the one who ordered them. That's all they asknow. My orders where then processed. This is a legitimate number with Amazon

I received a call from this number today and it was a man with an accent that sounded like he was from India. He knew exactly what I had purchased from Amazon, and wanted my address verification. I thought it was actually someone calling from Amazon, so I went ahead and verified my address. Now I am worried that my bank and Amazon account will be hacked, for sure.

Placed an order on Amazon, and several minutes later received a call from this number ( 918066055000 ) which I did not pick up. There was a voice mail left saying that it's the Amazon Purchase Verification Team trying to contact me as the order I placed is of a high value.

It was difficult to understand the man due to strong Indian accent.

I immediately contacted Amazon customer service (through chat) and have been assured that it's not them, moreover:

"I have checked and see that we have not contacted you via phone and Amazon.co.uk will never send voice mail to customers if there is problem with the order.
I suggest you not to provide you any details if you receive any calls like this."

Seeing some comments on this site saying that it is in fact Amazon customer service, I wonder if it's not the scammer himself.

Received a call from a male caller stating he was from Amazon. Barely intelligible in English. Asked if I wanted my Amazon transaction to go through. (I had cancelled my debit card that was on file with Amazon four hours before the call because it had been compromised and 5 charges had been made in the early morning hours in New Jersey. I reside in the Pacific Northwest). I asked him "what transaction?" He didn't say what it was but told me "one hundred ten dollars." I said "No" emphatically. He hung up. When I logged into Amazon, there was no record of any order or cancelled order, or even anything in my cart. He got no information from me, but I suspect it may have been connected to the compromise of my debit card, and I suspect he was phishing for more.

This is a scam number, which Amazon have told me. Bit worrying how they got my card details and order details

That number called me minutes after using "amazon payment" in a business shop. ( 4 figure amount)
I did not answer the phone. But I received a scam/phising mail with identical information also.
So they know my phone number plus the name of the shop where I ordered.
Strange, but definitely both scam and phising attacks...wonder if amazon is hacked or where they collect that information.

I also had a call after a large purchase earlier today. The call came from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India according to my phone's TrueCaller. Strange/worrying that no comment or representation from Amazon themselves has been made, even though this issue has been going on for months.... Come on Amazon - confirm / deny / explain please.

This isn't OK!!! Not sure why people are stressing about it. It's not a scam. I just bought a high value item £1,500 and Amazon were just calling to co firm my shipping address. I confirmed it and they were happy to process my order. They're only phoning to make sure your address is correct as it's such a high value item.
