This Indian speaking person calling to try and get information from me.

I received calls from this number too, minutes after placing my order.  I went on live chat to Amazon, who said that this is definitely NOT an official procedure, and then emailed their spam address stop-spoofing@amazon.com about it.   Please do not give any details to anybody calling from this number

Had two calls from this number while I was talking to American Express to cancel my card. At 1:35 AM there were 8 charges to Amazon using my AMEX card, including the normal $1.00 "fishing" charge to verify that they could do it. Also there was a $3,500 bank transfer from my bank to AMEX. AMEX has cancelled the charges, the card and is sending another card. My Credit union has put a freeze on my account so that no charges or transfers can take place as AMEX could not stop the transfer.

How did this happen? Good question. I am attached to a work network and this morning my computer had been restarted. Not normal but it could have been updates (it wasn't). Next thing that I saw was my history and cookies had been cleared. My theory is that they gained access to my work network, then was able to get to my computer and from there it was easy as I have always had my browser just remember my login info to sites such as AMEX. From there they were able to initiate the bank transfer and they then had my AMEX number. Needless to say I am changing how I store usernames and passwords on my computer.

I am anxiously waiting for them to call back.

It is amazon. they get concerned for items over 2k.

Made a purchase for the office. About 15 minutes later I get a call on my cell phone. 91 80 66055000.
I didn't answer it. Looked up the number on Google. Surprise !!! I find out it's a scam. Indian guy ...
Get home to find voicemail on home phone. Indian guy calling for Amazon... Changed my Amazon password to a more secure one just in case. Don't know how they do it but it's scary.

Having recently been a victim of fraud (someone emptied my bank account via telephone banking!) I am very careful and do not answer calls from unknown numbers. I placed a large order on Amazon (for £3000) earlier this morning, within 20 minutes I had 4 consecutive calls from this phone number.  I did not answer them, instead after reading this forum I spoke to Amazon via their online chat, I informed him of these calls after placing my order (after I had already changed my Amazon password) and I quote his reply:  "Thanks for waiting, I have checked this and can see that there is no call made from our end.  I am sure call was a fake or it was scam as we have no record of such calls.  I hope you did not reply on that.  Please be rest assure your account is completely safe with us.  And your order is going smoothly in the process."

Sandra webb...this number is  calling me back to back.more that ,5  times if call  don't answer.

I called Amazon CS and they said it was legitimate.  They are confirming certain orders placed online.

I had bought a domain name and got a call about whether I wanted services like hosting. Told them to email me. They never did. Obviously a scam.

Same here..i called amazon and they said they will not call back without requesting.. changed password.. i am cnfsd how did they know number and ful name.. i started using some apps recently is ot bcz of that?

This was a call from Amazon Vendor Central Canada handling a case from India. They had all the details and responded to my email by phone.

Happened to me tonight, I hung up as soon as he said he was from Amazon, stinks of a scam right away. How the hell did they get your mobile number?

Either this is Amazon and they're confirming wrong orders, or there's a massive internal leak going on. They called the registered mobile number with a really thick Indian accent, female,  for a newly set up AWS account and wanted to confirm if it was for personal or business use. So either VERY badly trained or Amazon's account services are consistently hacked. They couldn't have known this within a week of setup unless it was one weird coincidence. As always be careful and don't give out or confirm personal details.

I did place order with Amazon yesterday and received call from this # today.  I did not answer and no message left. 😝

They called me today too after my Amazon purchase. I did not answer.

Same here, called me after payment with Amazon Pay. I ignored this call, and call Amazon. Waiting for answer.

This is NOT a scam. People are getting confused because their amazon account gets hacked, places an order, and then receives a call from this number.

This number is actually Amazons verification team because THEY THINK YOUR ACCOUNT GOT HACKED. Thats why so many people who get hacked are getting a call from this number.

Amazon is trying to call the account owner to see if you actually placed the order or not.

If you receive a call from this number, Amazon thinks your account has been hacked.

If Sam is right then why the Help center denies calling. I too got it after a purchase and was really scared and got my order cancelled.
