so I got the same thing on Craigs list after I posted an Item.....unfortunately I did reply with my name, address and phone........now what? What is the scam?

I did not give any bank information or other personal information. What do they do with my address, name and phone?

I posted an ad on Craigslist and received a response from this "hearing impared" man Richard Stone...really similar to the other stories.  I then received a $2,000 check, hand delivered from UPS for the item I was selling for $100.  Right after delivery I received another email from Mr. Stone saying he's glad I received payment, kindly deposit the $2,000 check into my bank, deduct the $100 and send the remainder via Western Union to his "mover".  THIS IS A SCAM  (I did not deposit the check)

haha scammer. i posted an ad on craigslist and now the same deaf guy u guys r talkin about emails me wanting to buy my car stereo system!!!!!lmfao ive never seen a deaf guy drivin around bumpin loud bass..... dont fall for this scam

I just like to send back really mean and hateful eMails. I almost fell victim to this BS once and Wells Fargo was bright enough to catch it for me. Once you come that close you develop a keen sense for fraud, and this is definitely a case. I hope whoever it is trying to defame craigslist like this is executed or tortured or something. CL is a great website and doesn't need this garbage harming its reputation

I KNOW THEY ARE AWESOME, BUT REALLY, DOES A DEAF PERSON REALLY WANT TO GO TO THE DEPECHE MODE CONCERT?!?

I'm so happy when I find sites like these when I'm investigating potential buyers.  Before I respond I usually do my research.  Then I respond back with something sarcastic and they don't bother replying.  I'm guessing cause they know I'm on to them.

I listed something in a Utah classified ad in October 2010 and this person is back.  This time he/she is calling themselves, "Andrew."

Same MO, same sad story, same promise and surprisingly enough; the same phone number.
