- Birdy...This is NOT a scam.
It's a legit nurse "RN" who calls and asks you questions. Usually asks for d.o.b. to ID the patient.
United Health and Cigna (both carriers I have) do this and they sometimes don't know why you were in the hospital so they ask. They usually know discharge date though.
You might get a call from them if you get lab work done as well. They want to make sure you are getting the proper care that you need. This is their only intention.
They will offer good links if you need help even give you the help line number for a nurse if you need a question answered.
If you are a diabetic or have high blood pressure they will make sure you get a monitor most of the time for Free.
These nurses are not scammers.- Caller: UNITEDHEALTHGRP
- HadI-it952-367-8000. This is United Health Care's nurse. First of all, it's illegal for a business not to identify themselves with their name on your caller ID. I would advise you not to speak with them. They will appear that they are verifying co-ordination of benefits with your upcoming surgery, office visit, etc. when they are really out to glean any info that you might reveal that will somehow deny you coverage. They will be recording your call, have you identify yourself with name and birthdate. I've asked them to quit calling, but they will not. I tried to block their number wit the service provided through my phone carrier, but I always get a recording back stating that they cannot block this number. I have no trouble blocking any other number. Oh, they may also call you using this number: 800-903-2319 with no business ID.

- amazed| 1 replyThey're nurses who are calling to be sure you're getting all the care and benefits you're entitled to. Their sole purpose is to keep you healthy.
Everybody wins.
It's absurd that people are so paranoid.
BOO! - Dee replies to friesWhy would I want to talk to a nurse when I already have a doctor taking care of me? They are not nearly as educated as doctors are - why would or should I trust them?
If they want to get in touch with me about "authorizations, notifications, case management", they have my address, I will call them or I will tell THEM to call me, and will expect their call. If I change my address and want them to know, I will let them know. This is not (yet) the Nanny State the government envisions. Their intrusion on my day by calling MY phone is an invasion of my privacy. JUST STOP IT!
And do you really think I believe United Healthcare is interested in anything more than maximizing their profit? That they're looking out for me? Get real. - mail the questions replies to friesThese calls are not 5minute calls (45+). If they are calls from uhc, it seems like they could mail
a questionnaire, to get all the answers your drs office has already given them. To ask people
who have any disease that is not curable, "What is your plan for your health?" is obnoxious and
intimidating. The caller should (RN) ask the question to the doctors or be educated enough to
not to have to ask. They are required to be educated and paid by the premiums that are charged and
collected. My plan for my health is to hope your expertise will find a cure for my disease and
that will be most cost effective and end the unnecessary cost of paying someone to make phone calls that interrupt and also seem intrusive. Do not forget to give the real return address on the questionnaire. - ruascamerorcollector replies to amazedwhy are you concerned with these postings if you do not have a complaint. Do you just look
up all the numbers of the calls you appreciate and validate them for everyone. Is it a hobby
of your or are you paid for your agreeing opinion? How much time do you donate to this cause? - missTgot a call from this # trying to get personal information like Date of Birth, address, how my Dr.'s visit went and what kind of medications I was on . If they were really working with my healthcare provider they would already have it.

- RNI do this as a job . It is legit. I assist members with their care, asnwer questions, explain benefits, teach, coach, send out DME, the list goes on. Some people will never believe it is legit. The national do not call list does not apply because members are doing business with the insurance company. I even go as far as to offer full name and credentials so the person can call member sevices and be connected to me (I'm in the company directory). This is not enough for some people, so I move on to the people who want help. Not everyone wants my help, some are pretty nasty, but overall it is actually a very good job, so I keep doing it. I think if more people were aware that they would be getting the calls as part of their benefit it would help.

The call was not as described as above, no extension was given.
If they are your health insurance company they would have your information on file.
This is a Phishing scam! Scammers can steal your identity using your name address and birthday, don't give it to them, tell them not to call your number again, hang up and file a complaint with the BBB and goverment "do not call list" https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
If you are not on the do not call list sign up at https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx?panel=3
The number should be on the reverse number lookup, but neither are. - KetchupTo Mr scam-buster:I work for UHC and I am an RN. I dont care if you are an MD.If you understand the healthcare system, you should know about Case Management. We are not scammers and we are here to help people maximize their benefits from the insurance company.I really think you should not be sharing your credentials to anyone Doctor scam buster, because your comments here show you dont have the credentials to be called an MD.

- catch up replies to ketchupDepends on your definition of SCAM.
In fact, it's in insidious little scheme hatched by health insurance companies to SAVE MONEY by making sure they have every angle available to DENY COVERAGE (now or in the future when they share this information) and MAXIMIZE PROFIT.
Why in the world would you EVER permit someone from the insurance company to pretend to deliver any kind of health care? THEY ARE NOT HEALTH CARE DELIVERY. Their sole objective is to make money from you and from your health care providers. Any benefit to the policy holder is purely coincidental and unintentional.
Stay far away from this terrible invasion. PROFITS FIRST heath be damned. They are your worst and most dangerous adversaries in health care, because they have the power to KILL YOU by their greed, arrogance, and mismanagement which has been amply demonstrated over decades of this health care debacle.
Sad, now they're even paying their shills to defend this abomination on sites like this. Sorry, I mean their POLICYHOLDERS are paying for it! - ccdont call me or my house or my job thankyou

- JhessUnited Health Care RN - calling to verify that things are going well pp after the birth of my child. This is a part of a preventative measure to give out information (I was given the 24 hour nurse line as well as websites for pp care) in an attempt to keep you out of the hospital. I do have insurance, and as employees we are encouraged to use the UHC resourcesto keep medical costs down...

- Deejay replies to AngelaI too got a call from 952-367-8000 with caller ID Unitedhealthgrp. Because of the caller ID and the fact that I do have United Healthcare, I answered it, rather than let it go to voicemail. The caller said he was from United and asked me to verify my birthdate, which I did and then asked for my address and I became suspicious, so I told him that I wasn't comfortbale giving out info on the phone. Hesaid he understood and told me to call 888-866-8295 ext 30484 to verify that they were associated with United. I feel that they should tell the recipient of the call to verify that their birthdate & address are correct so we know that they have that info in the first place, Otherwise, how do they know if what I am telling them is correct. I am reluctant to call them back with all the scams that are out there and identity theft.
- Its all good replies to friesFries, you nailed it! This is exactly how it works, and they only check your address and date of birth to make sure they are talking to the correct person and don't violate any privacy rules by discussing your condition with the wrong person, even your spouse!
- Some of you are PARANOIDAs several people have correctly indicated, this is an incoming number from United Health Care (UHC). For me personally it is a registered nurse from UHC who is assigned to my specific medical case. This nurse and this program are coordinated through my company's benefit's department.
Oh, the Internet and its paranoid attention-seeking messageboard posters who regard all activity as scams; they are probably the same people who post negative ratings for every business.- Caller: United Health Care
- RandeeThis isn't a scam!!! It really is an Rn with a program that UHC made me sign up with in order to get benefits paid for infertility treatments! I think this program is complete total bs since the Rn has nothing to do with UHC but that is who's calling from this number.

- unknownThis is not a scam: they have really helped me after my unexpected hospital stay and surgery. I seen a comment about the "trunk line number" the company i work for does that also cause we have so many out going lines it just sends a trunk line that shows up on caller id
- Jan| 1 replyBoth my husband and I receive calls from the United Healthcare Nurse. It's not a scam, but it is annoying. They seem to think they can help you by talking to you over the phone after you've seen numerous doctors and tried numerous sorts of treatment. I'm not sure why United Health Care is putting out money for these "nurses" to call you; they must be trying to save money somehow/someway otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. They seem to call when you have an on-going condition and are probably trying to "save" money on your claims. The nurse claims to want to help you with your condition, but they are more annoying than helpful. For some conditions, there is really no cure, only "management" with prescription drugs or annual check ups/ct scans/ultrasounds/lab tests. As far as no one answering, often computers call the numbers and there is a delay in pick up on the other end. If another call goes through first, your call is dropped, they don't hear you answer, but then then call your number again later.
