got a call from 000-000-0000.  they left a message.  it was texas chips program calling about my son's insurance.

Mine was a telemarketer asking me what medications I take.  I told him I would file a complaint with the FCC if they would not remove my number from their database.  Then I acted nice and told the young man that he should get out of the telemarketing field and get a good job in the fast food industry.

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station; the term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered nefarious by the speaker. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people have tended to have in the caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.

To use a typical spoofing service, customers pay in advance for a PIN allowing them to make a call for a certain amount of minutes. To begin, customers dial the toll free number given to them by the company and enter their PIN. After which they enter the number they wish to call and the number they wish to appear on the caller ID. Once the customer selects the options, the call is bridged and the person on the other end receives the customer's call. Assuming caller ID is used on the receiving end the receiver would normally assume the call was coming from a different phone number (the spoofed number chosen by the caller) than the caller's actual number, thus tricking the receiver into thinking the call was coming from a different individual or organization than the caller's. Most providers work similar to a pre-paid calling card.

The above method is a bit complex; many Caller ID spoofing service providers also allow customers to initiate spoofed calls from a web-based interface. Some providers allow entering the name to display along with the spoofed Caller ID number, but in most parts of the United States for example, whatever name the local phone company has associated with the spoofed Caller ID number is the name that shows up on the Caller ID display.

Using a web-based spoofing service involves creating an account with a provider, logging in to their website and completing a form. Most companies require the following basic fields:

1.Source number
2.Destination number
3.Caller ID number
When the user completes this form and clicks a button to initiate the call, the source number is first called. When the source number line is registered, the destination is then called and bridged together.

Some providers also offer the ability to record calls, change the voice and send SMS text messages.

Other popular methods by companies include displaying only a geographical name on the caller ID readout. E.g. "ARIZONA", "CALIFORNIA", "OREGON", "ONTARIO", etc.

I got a call from 1-000-000-0000 today and yeaterday and so on when I answered it was a company with  a debt consolidation program. I asked him to remove me from his list thay call every 30 minutes.

I discovered a child pornography website, I reported it, but while I was looking at it i got several of those (000-000-0000) calls.

I got a call from these people - an Asian woman calling from UPI - they would help me reclaim bank charges.  I told her I was on the TPS & she said no one would call again, but they already knew that.
Call appeared as +0000000000 (10 zeros) obviously spoofed deliberately.

got them EVERY DAY twice at almost the same time. Never P/U because of the weird display numbers, but very pissed. Let's find out who the [***] and execute them.

Got a call for the 4th time in 2 days, I've picked it up twice to see who the hell it was and no one ever answers, they just keep calling....

this is pissing me off and its even more weird cuz the number is 000-000-0000...aaahhh

I got the call at 3:00. He said that he wanted to give me 10,000 dollars in Government Grant Money. I said I'm not intristed, he said wait! I hung up. He called again, he said the same usless words, I ended up cussing him out beacuse he asked for my social securiy number.

1-000-000-0000 Keeps calling me, and, unlike what most people here are getting, it just plays like elevator music when I answer. It's kinda creeping me out, because I don't really know why someone would call to play me music. Anyone have this issue?

I got calls from this 000-000-0000 number and all I get is a female voice recording that is spewing numbers and letters and dashes.  What the hell is it?  It's not human!  Make it stop, please!!!!

I GOT CALLED WITH THE SAME NUMBER ASKING FOR MIGUEL AND THAT THIS WAS BLOCKBUSTER CALLING TO SEE WHY THEY HAVENT RECIVED THE MOVIES BACK AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SEND MIGUEL TO COLLECTIONS AGENCY WTF

they said they were calling from the republicans...

calls about 3 times a day. they dont even have the right name. so they wont tell me why they are calling. they dont get that they have the wrong number

These calls are becoming a nuiscance. I've been getting calls every couple of days for a while but then receiving multiple calls on those days. I've never picked up the call.

Getting these calls once a day at the same time everyday, they dont leave a message but let it run to answer machine.  Not got to the phone in time to answer, but i will do and give them what for if it is marketing or the likes of.
