i just got the same thing...had it out with this same number who says that they are with "Discover Merchant Services"...told them to stop calling but have avg'd about 4-6 call attempts per day...most ending in hang ups or disconnects...but this last one this morning was pretty interesting.  I was right about to start a meeting and i saw the number...so i was a bit frustrated already...i picked up the call and said "look, i said to remove me from your list...is this discover merchant services?"  The young guy on the other end proceeded to mimic me and went on with this lame prank call saying "hey..you called me mister!...stop bothering me!"  Then he made some noises and laughed..hanging up.  Very weird but still very annoying.

    Hello all,
Today in my mail I rec'ed an all expense paid Cruise for 2 to the Grand Bahama Islands and a travel voucher in the sum of $1300.00.  The ticket states "No Strings Attached" and to give a telephone listed a call in 72 hours.  Funny thing, I had just rec'ed this notice when the telephone rings, the number I notice on my display was no other then 000-000-0000.  I had answered the call only to have a operator state, please hold as your call is being transferred, once the call was transferred I was listening to (I beleive) a capitan of the Cruise Liner for the tickets I had just rec'ed.  Well before (whoever) got to far into the description of the cruise that was being offer, I hung up.  I am sure like others, it's a scam.  Have a great day all.

According to the Feds, these calls with zeroes originate offshore as a means of working around the "Do Not Call List."  Frankly, I think it has more to do with Identity Theft intel gathering in some cases, and in others random calling to establish the phone # called was answered by an individual rather than business.  Caller-ID is about $3.50 a month and may be worth it...

I get a call about once a day from 000-000-0000.  They leave messages stating they are American Home Savers calling on behalf of my mortgage company (which they mention by name).  I figure they must have my credit report or something on hand to know who my mortgage company is.  I'm not late on any payments, so I think it's one of those loan modification companies.

I've googled them and haven't found any reliable information beyond their own website.  It's a very basic website and not very professional.  Anyone can set up a website these days!  The FTC lists companies with very similar names as fake modification scams.

My boyfriend gets those calls about once a month.  It's usually about debt supposedly from a payday loan, and they say they are going to file an "alphadavid" (guessing they mean affidavit, LOL) with a court in NY to have him arrested if he doesn't pay.  We live on the west coast.  If you actually research debt collection legal terms, you'll find that they can't arrest anyone.

They change their name all the time too. Names like Joe Marshall are used - very common both first and last names.

My BF finally gave them the name & number of an attorney from some TV commercial and made up a bankruptcy case number.  They haven't called as much since then.

Hi, I happened to be one of those people who bought that vouchers from Suncrest Holiday on August 2010.
I wanted to cancel them but they already debited my account 3 times for 50GBP.
How can I prove it to my bank that this was a scam, if it was  5months ago. Shouldn't I inform them within 14days of transaction?
Please advise me what I can do,
    Regards Ella
