I did, however, receive a pre-approved application for a Santander credit card. I threw it in the bin because I didn't want one with an annual fee.
For those of you that are being called several times a day:
1. Inform Ofcom that you are receiving a large number of silent calls from that number;
2. Inform Trading Standards - they will take action if they receive enough complaints, so your "vote" counts; and/or
3. Ask Citizens Advice Bureau for legal advice persuant to the Harassment Act - I'm pretty sure it covers this.
You can also talk to the Financial Ombudsman. CAB will point you in the right direction.
BUT
Please make sure you have the 'phone number recorded correctly. The caller is *not* a company called Redfern.

Even if you agree a payment date the calls continue as it is automated and will happen to any account that is in arrears no matter how little you owe.
- CJMThis number calls every day without fail and at least 3 times. I never answer it and they never leave a message. It is obviously some kind of scam! DON'T ANSWER AND DON'T CALL THEM BACK. I would suggest adding this number to your "Caller Barred" facility on your phone if you have it.

- PAULAutomated caller said they were calling from Newday (the company that has taken over Santander store cards and interest free credit eg DFS) saying my account was in arrears and to make a payment over the phone, but I checked with my storecard provider directly and my account was fine. I am presuming all they wanted was to rip me off.

Yes, it probably is a DCA trying to get payment for alleged debts etc, as I get it many, many times (but not from this number before now) for properties I own, and because tenants have built up debts and absconded - so they chase me for the debts.- Caller: A Debt Collection Agency (Probably)

I don't owe any money to either of them. I've saved both numbers to my contact list as 'Santander card scam' so next time it happens I can ignore the call without wondering who they are. I presume they're criminal scammers.

It stared the call was from Newday Ltd., the firm that took over Debenhams' payment system. I was asked to key in my date of birth so I hung up. I don't owe any money. I think this is a scam. I'll call Debenhams tomorrow to enquire about it. If it really is authorised by Debenhams (or Wallis) I'm going to cancel my store cards.
