It would be really helpful to know what the voice said. We have seen one report that it was an american accent. Is it female/male? English/American? What did it say? This may help us to determine the origin of the call and it's all we have to go on.

called us at 02.08 this am like most people think its a family emergency no sleep after that .WHAT CAN BE DONE

01213140001 called me at 3:50am this morning, woke me of course, rang off after a couple of seconds

Me too at the highly antisocial hour of 4:12 am.  This lot need to be shut down immediatelty.

Woken at 2.42am Mon. 5th March.  No caller number.    Woken at 3.15am Tues 6th March.  Nobody answered when I picked up phone.  But call-back service gave the number as:

Will disconnect phone tonight - but what if there is a real family emergency?

Ours was an American female voice,  if that helps.  Only heard something about "you have given the wrong code" or similar before hanging up abruptly.

This number called me at 3:05am (just when I needed to sleep)  No one there when I picked up the phone -so no idea who they are.

Turns out the caller has hacked/spoofed the number of a legitimate UK company - see notice at:

My guess is, the fraudsters are impersonating a UK number in order to generate a veneer of legitimacy for their scams (I like to think that no-one in their right mind would do business with some stranger who calls them at 1am from eastern Europe).

Really upset with a 'silent' call at 4.31 this morning. Woke us all up.  Thought it was a distress call from an ageing relative.  Kept awake for hours.

I have seen the comments from the company that owns the number.  I accept that the actual call may not be their fault but they really need to get to the bottom of this and stop it at source.  Or... as an IT company, it will reflect on their expertise and will haunt them for years.

RichardSolveIt appears on a business forum offering to supply systems for telesales.  Has he advised someone wrongly or set up a dodgy system?  How did my number get on the call list?  Where is the TPS when we need them?

had a call at 108am this morning i think its disgraceful as well

Just had a go at reporting the call with Ofcom.  They don't give any option for reporting a one-off call, and I could not truthfully say that this happened regularly, so didn't go any further.

my mum is has had these people ring at 3am this morning. it rang out for some time. but was not answered has it rang off. something should be done about this - this  should not be allowed and they should be fined for this practice.

I was woken up at 4.24am this morning by my home phone ringing. I jumped to answer it thinking it was a family emergency, no-one there! Must've pulled a muscle in my neck in doing so as i've been in pain ever since. NOT HAPPY!! :-P

absolute [***], i keep having calls from a company offering grants for home insulation, yesterday i had one, it was a message, it says if you want to speak to someone press 2, there was no one there just a message so i left one saying not to contact me again.  then at 02.42 this morning  i had a call off 0121 314 0001, woke up startled, i am currently very ill at the moment, and feel awful today being woke at a ridiculous time. i think the two are connected, dont get fobbed off by this company appologising, saying there is a fault on their system, i believe its them marketing for grants.

Same as, 4.25am for us, woke the baby and thought it was an emergency, american female voice telling me that " this is not a valid extension, please try later". This is just so wrong, hope it can be dealt with

I have spoken to my landline provider, and they are looking into this, they have listed me now as ex directory, but explained to them, this will not stop them calling, as they already know my phone number, so will see what happens next.

The home phone rang at 2am this morning from this number, was really worried it was a family emergency!!

Received the same call as everyone else from this number at 04:04 am today on our landline. Caller hung up when we answered. Disturbed sleep, not happy. I called it just now and heard the recorded message stating a line fault with the company's phone line and hence found this thread. I hope that the phone companies identify and fix whatever has allowed this hack.
