My husband got a call from this number on 17 May. The caller who appeared to be from overseas left a message on answering machine asking to speak to him. Dont seem to understand the concept of an answering machine! Got another missed call from them yesterday. Didnt leave a message this time. Another call from them about 5 mins ago. Didnt leave a message this time either. My advice is not to pick up and use 1471 to find out who is calling. If it is legitimate you can always call them back.

I answered once but got dead air, then a click and the line went dead.
My line goes to answer phone if it is not answered after six rings. They always hang up before the sixth ring.
From the other comments it looks like a call centre - Call centres must now display a valid number.

leave dead voicemails-about 2 a week at the moment...completely dead...no hiss or background at all.

He said I had won €1000 and I did not even enter anything! He still call.

Just received a call from 0123456789 telling me that there was a virus on the computer and it would only take 5 minutes to fix - I put the down as I various anti virus packages

I just has a call from this number.
It was an American guy saying I was entitled to $3000 off a Florida holiday as I use Visa.  I listened to his spiel until he asked for me to confirm my expiry date on my Credit Card.  When I asked "which Visa card do you want the expiry date from?" he just said "Exactly".  I started messing with him cos it was fun - I had no intention of giving him any details.  He seemed genuinely surprised when I said I wasnt interested!

I just had this call but from an  American lady. She said that as I had been such a good customer spending on my credit card, I had won $300 to spend in Florida. She seemed to know my name somehow. I told her I was not interested which left her speechless, then I put the phone down.

Have been receiving calls from this number for several days which I have 'screened' with the answerphone and caller ID.

01234 567890? Yeah Right. Companies would pay BT thousands to have that number.

Anyway, finally had enough this evening (after five of these calls in quick succession) and answered the call. Here's the conversation.

[Caller] (Indian or south asian accent) "Good Evening, I am calling for Mr. ***** "

[Me] "Continue"

[Caller] "Can I confirm that I am ringing 01*** ******?"

[Me] "Well your machine rang the number, so you tell me"

[Caller] "And is this line from BT, or another company?"

[Me] "That's my business"

[Caller] "Actually it's my business too sir"

[Me] "No. It's my business, and mine alone, as I pay the bills"

[Caller] "Well, I'm just trying to clarify which service provider you are using"

By now, approx 45 seconds have elapsed (I was timing it)

[Me] "That's fine. You've also been on the phone long enough for me to trace the call, and discover your whereabouts"

There was a loud click and then silence.

It will be interesting to see if they call again.

I have been getting some calls from this number. When we answer, it's an asian sounding lady. She keeps saying things like 'Your computer is under threat...Your computer is ..' idk things like that.. Not sure what its about. She could be trying to sell a product, or help our computer... but that doesnt make any sense, because how would she know our computer is in danger..? How did she get our number? She told us to go on the computer, and we told her we couldn't as we have dialup and cant go on the computer at the time as the phone.. then she replied 'Ok bye then' or something similar..  Who is this.. what's happening?

my mother lives alone and is 70, she has has 10 calls per day from this number yet no one speaks it was bothering her so th enext time i picked up the phone and blew loudly with a whistle legal?? whoo knows they havnt called since
