This number rings me at least twice a day! Finally picked up today for them to ask for me but under my maiden name. I said there was no one on this number by that name which he said are you sure? Which I then laughed at and said yes I think I know who lives in my house! Broken English speaker. Will be a scam or PPI no doubt! I have been married for nearly 5 years so everyone I deal with knows my correct surname.

Just had a call from this number, used to get them months ago, Asian accent telling me my computer had a virus (that old chestnut).  I told him I didn't have a computer, he asked was I sure? I said absolutely positive, so he hung up.  There are lots of  these callers and they are all rude and abrupt, they are interrupting us not the other way around.  WHY CANT ANYTHING BE DONE TO STOP THIS, WHO PROVIDES THESE DODGY NUMBERS????!!!!!!!

Got a call today from this number, Asian guy asked for me by name, worrying, said (in very bad English) they were calling to advise me that my computer was sending out a virus and they could help solve the problem .
Just said I didn't have a computer and hung up. Had these type of calls before. Then checked out the number on the web.
    • Caller: Sounded like Microsoft

The number is a complete fake, simply made up to render 1471 useless. Just got called by this 'number', guy claiming to be Kevin Jones (strange name for an Indian) from the World Wide Web telling me they have received 'error messages' from my computer. "Oh no," said I, "I do hope you will be able to help me if I give you all my bank account details and passwords?" I think he thought I was being sarcastic because he hung up. Life, eh?
    • Caller: Not a company, crooks

    Does it Matter
Just had a call from this number.  Lady spoke very quickly and was seemingly reading from a script.  She was trying to speak with an American Accent and claimed she was doing a survey concerning UK charities.  Asked her who told her that I wanted to do a survey.  She was insistent that it wouldn't take very long as it's just yes and know answers.  The line kept breaking intermittently and a word gets lost in translation.  I asking the same question a few times then ignored her, as it's her bill she's running up.  She kept saying hello then decided to hang up.  Why not play them at their own game.... stay silent.... and see who hangs up first!

Told me I had a problem with Windows and tried to get me to access my computer.  Led him on for quite some time (as I always do with these jokers) until I told him I use an Apple Mac - which I do!!  Amazingly he tried to insist I had Windows; so I said I really did feel sure I had a Mac!!  I then put him on speaker-phone and carried on working until he hung up.  I asked him for him home phone number so I could annoy him with cold calls.  He actually gave me a number........  These people are from a different planet.

I had a call today from this number; after a slight delay a lady with a foreign accent said she was Angelina and was calling about my computer. "What computer" I asked; "Don't you have a computer?" she replied. I said that that was not what I asked and then asked what company it was calling me. She didn't answer that but went on to say there were errors which needed fixing. I said I didn't need any help and cut off the call.

I never use my landline, but it's been ringing a lot recently, and silence at the other end.  Finally, yesterday, someone at the other end.  Indian, knew my name (which really worries me) told me they had been getting many error messages from my computer.  I've heard all about this scam fortunately, and played along.  Is your computer on?  No.  Please switch it on.  So I went off and quietly smoked a whole [***], then came back and said it was now on.  He instructed me to do various keystrokes, which of course I didn't, but I said I did.  Pretended to be a total numpty, pretended to fail to understand what he wanted me to do.  Finally I said, where exactly would I expect to find this Windows key you're telling me about on my iMac keyboard?  Click.  Gone.

But I wasted nearly half an hour of the lying pr1ck's time!  And 1471 told me it 01234567890.  I hope it was half an hour of India to UK phone rate time.  I hope next time to manage a whole hour.

This was a scam call from India.  He asked me to turn on my computer so he could remedy why it was running slow.  I took great pleasure in telling him about the exposure of this scam to extract money from people, on a BBC programme a few weeks ago.  At which point he rang off!

    SCAM!
They had the correct previous persons surname and obviously my land line.
'Gary' an Indian from 80-100 Cardinal St London the Microsoft office who his company shares the building called Main Call Server used 01234567890 to call me saying I had a reported issue with updated on my PC Windows version 7.

I played about for 18mins to waste his time to then tell him he gave me the Microsoft Office address and I don't have Windows 7. He then said his office is next door and any operating system is now classed as Windows 7.

He tried to get me to type 'msinfo32' in the RUN command, DON'T BE FOOLED!
Microsoft would not call you its a scam to rob you of your information from your computer.

Enjoy wasting their time instead and give them a load of abuse at the end... very therapeutic.
