The phone number presented when they just called my partner's phone was comically badly presented. I let the guy go through his opening spiel, and then said "So you say. Go on.". He began to repeat. I told him "I did not ask for a repeat.", and his response was "What the (expletive deleted) are you talking about?" followed by a hangup. An attempt to waste their time, backfiring on me. Hopefully they won't call again.

Do not talk to these people.  It is a scam and they will try and get your money!

People, these guys will ask you to do all kinds of things on your computer.

They know nothing, they call people under the assumption that everyone owns a PC nowadays. All in all its just a fraud attempt.

Don't panic. The whole process is part of their act. They try to sound professional. Their ultimate goal is for you to go to a website that will get your computer infected by a virus that will screw up your PC and then ask for your bank details.

PLEASE know that they have no power over the phone, neither do they have anyone looking into your PC. They just have a very detailed act, to make you download a very nasty virus.

Keep your PCs and your money secure by not following any of their advice :)

Of course, while you're talking to them, the person you're talking to can't bother anyone else... but certainly, don't follow their advice unless it's on a "sacrificial" VM with no financial data on it, and don't pay them anything.

Had call today(21/07/12)from a Asian sounding male who claimed that I could receive a refund from the company that had gained access to my computer and then charged me £320 for doing a full scan.  The payment was taken by a company'Nias E Business So India'  He was very insistent that I gave him details to enable refund and said that it was because the company was ceasing trading.
Looks like a new scam riding on the shoulders of an old scam.    Beware.
