Well i also received a “Congratulations slip. And yea at first i thought it was a scam. But the person i spoke 2 on the phone was very friendley & help full. And he told me i have won a prize donated by a local health club in my area called the diamond health club. He also asked me if i knew where the diamond health club was! I said no. Even though it's just down the road from me. I just thought i will listen to what he has 2 say first. Now when the called ended i got that Congratulations slip and threw it in the bin and thought stuff that! But then i just thought I've got the day of work there's nothing better to do let just see what they got to offer me. So i got it out of the bin and went down there. when i got there. I told the person that I've got this slip. He took the slip off me and asked me if i would like to take a tour round the building. I said yea might as well why i am here. The place is  not posh like. But it not that bad looking. Anyway he let me pick a envelope. so i opened and it was just a month's pass. i said to him is this it. he told me there are different gifts but he said that was the envelope i picked and he's sorry i didn't get sum thing of a higher value. i just took it and walked out. but on the way home i thought i might as well use. at the end of the day it is free and to be honest i did put on few pound around Christmas. so think i will pop down on Saturday might as well lose a few pounds. but i bet most of u who come on here just read what every one else has got to moan about and then u think i will join is as well. but i bet not one of u has even gone down there just to have a look. its not like u can even lose any money. Unless u are stupid anuff to give them ur bank details. At the end off the day if u dont like ur gift just walk out!!!

I've got one this morning and I live in Newton-Le-Willows. Reading the comments here it looks quite similar to a 'prize' I'd won a few years ago for completing a survey I never had taken part in. The prize was 2 years free membership at a local gym and I almost fell for it until I looked at the small print and the free membership did not include a weekly £4.98 per person admin fee. So my 'free' membership was going to cost me nearly £520!!

So if you have phoned this number and accepted a discounted/free gym membership check the small print for any hidden charges and add them up!

I don't want to just bin this I want to report it, any idea who to report it to?

Also I have to question how a company can run such a misleading advertising campaign for so long and NOT get prosecuted/shutdown!

Yep - I've been doing some research and this company has been doing this for a long time. Sometimes they operate under different names, Fit Life Ltd, Millennium Experience, Matters Consulting and Lyle Hill Ltd to name but a few.

The end result is the same, you end up signing a 2 year credit agreement for a weekly fee which you find difficult to cancel without threats of legal action from debt recovery agencies. I've reported it to the local press and the Office of Fair Trading as at the least it's very misleading at worst a scam.  Don't just bin your slip of paper, do the same! Only if enough people complain will this operation be shutdown.

Received one of these gift slips today too.  Number was 01691 810050 - which is a local number!  Very misleading indeed. Wont be calling it up! BIN all the way!!

Not a call but the same format of note through the door.

Telephone number is now 01225 650116 (apparently 'normal' telephone rates apply - yeah right.  Funnily enough I didn't just come down to earth with the last shower of rain!)  This implies the scam is now reaching the Bath area.

People like this really P me off - the postmen are complaining because they can't deliver all the mail in the time available - well that's probably because my postmas has just had to deliver this one piece of wasteful crap through my door without any other useful mail, so a total waste of his time.  

Is anyone else totally lost as to what the point of the Data Protection Act is?  Seems to stop me getting access to my own banking information, but apparently complete strangers can get hold of my contact details without permission.  Great!

Looks like this scam has moved southwards! I live near Bath, said exactly the same as previously mentioned, "Universal Consulting Ltd t/a National surveys, Victoria House, 1 Gloucester road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL51 8LN. Thought I'd check it out online and found this site! What ususally sounds too good usually is!! Binned!

like everybody else i too put my letter in the bin, a friend of mine from liverpool rang the number last week and filled me in on the scam... and by the way the local telephone number is usually set up at the fitness club thats on offer but diverted to somewhere else like universal consulting call centre

Got the same as everyone else, letter through the post, envelope addressed to Mr & Mrs..... (no name) and our address.  "This number has drawn one of the free gifts donated by local businesses...Total value of gifts exceed £12,400".

Its gone the same way as the others, in the BIN.....

You lot need a free gift a years supply of Horlicks and Night Nurse because I don't know how you can sleep @ night you post thses slips out to everyone and those who are more vunraible would beleve it as well you inhuman monsters and anyone reading this DON'T CALL 01691 810050 it is a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received my slip today addressed to Mr/Mrs saying we had won a free gift donated by local businesses, and asking us to call a local number-01225 650116.I rang trading standards to report it!

they have now changed the number to 01225 650116 (Normal telephone rate) Mon-Thurs 9am-8pm Fri 9am-6pm.
