Had a slip today in the Worcester area with a office address listed as Cheltenham. Usually details of Universal Consulting T/A National Surveys. Thanks to the postings it will be going directly in the bin.

This one is spreading far! I got one in the post this morning with the number 01244 490426. Anyone who fancies ringing is welcome to whatever prize they get!! Thank's to all previous posters, this is getting filed in the circular file!! :)

One of those slips in the post, addressed to Mrs/Mrs & our address, we are asked to contact 01244490426- our local area code for Chester area. I'm gonna do as other sensible people have done & bin it. So glad  I checked this out.

Slip through door today with a number on ALD 9753 & complimentary slip from company calling themselves universal consulting ltd t/a national surveys from post code GL51 8LN telling me to call a leeds no 0113 350294 saying had won a prize from a local business.
Must think we are born yesterday.
Trouble is the elderley may well fall for this

Receiving gifts in Shrewsbury now. 'Congratulations' slip came through the post, expires 03/12/09.  Local phone number 01743 770026.
Searched for Universal Consulting, Cheltenham and came up with this page.
Thanks everyone, I thought it would be a scam... sending it off to trading standards now and local press.

Wow - just making my way through all the pages of comments about this.  Feel really stupid for being pulled in.  The old adage if something looks too good to be true it probably is!

I find it funny people are so quick to think badly what is this world coming to most people have no idea what they are talking about most written on here is not true i did ring the number they were very friendly and i was pleased with my gift and cheap membership and my friend was aswell.

Ha 'anon' has made me laugh all the posts here and the only one to get a prize is 'anon', what a joke - as if we'd fall for that one. Recieved a slip today, went straight in the bin, thank you to all the HONEST people on here!!

The scam has arrived in St helens.  I will follow advice and return it to universal consulting, marked first class, but without a stamp.  Let them pay postge.

Yes it's in St Helens NOW, Think I will follow the advice given about returning to sender but I will pay the postage myself and even include a "gift" of my own.. Any suggestions will b considered. I am thinking of kippers,tuna paste or even something the dog left behind... lol I will also write St helens in the top left hand corner so they now where it has come from.. Can I suggest more people do this. cheers all

Like you all, I too have been targeted by those lacking in 'veracity' scum who believe to feed on our hopes is their right while we individuals suffer in this time of Credit Crunch! When a little luck is like a beam of sunlight in an otherwise bleak sky; instead, what little we have they seek to deprive us off! For what? A holiday, a computer for their fat kids, new car to continue their illegal enterprise. Whatever they're want, it clearly took no consideration of the desperation of ours. We who as a collective make a formidable army, and who, more importantly also struggle to pay the gas, the electric, the poll tax, even to buy food at times - so we naively beam with hope when something seemingly innocuous falls through our letterbox offering something, anything! So eager are we, sometimes were not even aware of the the scam beginning; the phone call, which inevitably diverts to a premium mobile number, then the pathetic useless/valueless gift which for most is not forthcoming. But worse, the theft of trust, the theft of faith, the theft of hope! That is the crime for which there can be no forgiveness.

So rather than continue to write to each other, bemoaning our individual anger, mostly at ourselves for having been such fools, whether it be for 5 seconds, minutes,, or even those who called and believed - let us write to those charged with protecting us from these wolves in sheeps clothing. We did not open those envelope out of greed, and for those who called they did not do so out of greed, it was hope for something small, not something further representative of our ever decreasing spiral of loss. We saw that slip as a small yet effective plug stopping the drain, not forever, but long enough to celebrate with a smile a bit of happiness for a change, a smile whose beam would replenish the loss of hope. So sign up, don't shut, make them accountable, and make those responsible for making them accountable, Account for their lack of action while everyday someone else is scammed! Say NO MORE!!

So they are hitting the St.Helens (Merseyside Area) in January, I wonder where is next!
