- SUSIE| 3 repliesTHEY ALSO USE THE NUMBER 02084958722 SO BEWARE OF THIS NUMBER TOO!
- Caller: Debt Collectors
- little helper| 1 reply3 more numbers, [***] these [***] pains have a lot of phones 01252575454 , 02084958722 , 01252576300
no wonder they harrass people, all those phone numbers means bill phone bills.
i just turned the table on 1 of capquests workers.
i asked how much she was in debt, and did she know it was a criminal offence to work in the debt recovery industrie, and to be in debt too, [***] put the phone down on me.
guess she was in debt tooo hehehehehe:O) - little helperhow about this...
why not boycott the debt recovery companys that pester and harrass us.
answer no phone calls, only make token payments of 1pound per month.
what they going to do, take us all to court, i think not, why, because you make the 1pound token payment:O)
i reakon this should see a few of these telephone debt recoverers on the dole que.
maybe then when they start getting the phone calls they will maybe just think to themselfs what they did and how people felt. - SugarMouseCrapquest left a message on voicemail just to let me know they had "tried to contact"... but didn't say who they were phoning. There's more than one person in the house.
Liked your comment about telling her where to blow bubbles, that amused me greatly. In these kind of circumstances I advise people to get CallerID on their home phones (BT and Virgin provide the service for less than £2 a month). The type of phone we have enables you to block a particular number, just the one though, maybe other models allow for more, it's an old phone or the full filter passes everyone on to voicemail.
I never confirm who I am when they ask for your details. They say it's for "security reasons" and I refuse to give my details "for security reasons". I don't know who I'm talking to! Their next tactic is to say that they sent you a letter (to confirm your address). Again, don't give them the information they're looking for.
The laws are different between England and Scotland, you have greater protection here. A bailiff needs a court order to enter your house. This costs £600 so if your debt is for less than that then it's not going to happen. The same for being taken to court. It's an expensive business and probably not worth the debt they've bought so it won't happen. For more information check out the Accountant In Bankruptcy's site (Scotland). Being made bankrupt and stopping the debt collectors has become more easier in the past few years.
Remember, the person on the phone isn't interested in YOU, only on the commission they can make from you. And like Little Helper has said - go to the Citizen's Advice, I got a lot of good advice and assistance from them. Being in debt doesn't mean you should make yourself ill with worry. There are ways out of it.- Caller: Crapquest
- little helperjust to add on a couple of points made by sugar mouse...
dont let any bailiff into your home, they have no legal powers,, dont let them in!!!
if a bailiff turns up at your door and has a court order or is apointed by a court, this mainly happens for bankrupt people or tax dodgers,
debt peoplezz,, i am working hard and fast on this website for you peoplezzz.
its got tonnes of info,
what to do
what not to do
template letters to download and send to your debt recovery companys.
your rights
there rights
the law in the uk on debt recovery
your human right laws
european laws
[***] the list goes on:O)
bare with me a little longer and hopefully help will be with you all soon..
and dont worry i am not charging for this:O)but there will be adverts on the site, a little like the ones on here, i need to cover the cost somehow and charging people in debt is not the way to do it, however there will also be a donations button, there is no requirement to use the ads or donation, its there if you decide to help keep the site online to help others.
and once again.. go to the citizens advice, these people are proffesional, will help you greatly and remove lots of the pressure from your shoulders.
and you dont have to answer any questions from debt recovery people on the phone, tell them to fuk off or inform them that the data protection act says you dont have to inform them of [***].
or tell them they sound like a nigerian phone scam and to get lost:O)
also to confirm another point made by mousey, the people who phone you are students mostly who are on crap pay and need the extra beer money, they also seam to think they are big brave people when on a telephone, hmmmmmm wonder what they would say if eye to eye with me. bet they would be very polite, but being built like a brik shithouse and profisiant in 2 martial arts and an unarmed combat specialist, just imagine steven segal with a proper haircut and an english accent, oh yeah and lots younger:O) even debt doorstep recoverers become polite when face to face with me, i know you all not like this but i like to intimidate the intimidaters, i do it for you alll!!:O)
keeeep smiling xx - I Luv u Brothers n SistersI thought I was alone! So sorry to hear you guys and I have all this crap in common. Capquest are just bullies, preying on the every day persons lack of knowledge, as we are all fed disinformation, or none for that! Its not in the governments intrest orrecovery company interests for us to know our rights etc. Its sick! Just reading your posts has perked me up. All that I have read is good advice, combine it, be polite, no swearing etc, 'We wouldnt want them to feel threatened, what about theyre human rights'. Be better then them, get educated, use the loopholes, play the game!Fight the good fight, Good luck
- Caller: CRAPQUEST
- little helperbe polite to them????
you on drugs dude heheheh
dont be polite to them, they are trying to extort moneyzz from you with menace..this is illegal!!!! threating letters, nusance phonecalls, threats of court action or bailiffs coming to your home...
IT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS, IF THESE COMPANYS SEND YOU A LETTER THAT YOU CONCIDER, TO BE UNREASONABLE, IE.... IF THEY ASK FOR THE FULL BALANCE KNOWING FULL WELL YOU CANNOT PAY IT STRAIGHT AWAY, THREATEN LEGAL ACTION, BASICALLY ANYTHING THAT IS DEAMED UNREASONABLE AND THAT CAUSES DISTRESS TO YOU THE PERSON IN DEBT, THEY CONSTANTLY DO THIS AND AS SO THEY ARE BREAKING LAWS, SO DONT ENTERTAIN THEM YES BE RUDE(BUT NOT RACIST).
if they want human right applying to them then i suggest they play by the rules and act like humans instead of acting like heffers.
all i would say is dont be racist if you have a dude or dude'ette from another country phoning.
BUT AS I SAID BEFORE, IF YOU WANT THE PEACE AND QUIET, THEN MAKE THEM A PAYMENT OFFER, 5 SQUID WILL BE A GOOD START, TELL THEM YOU WILL REVUE IT IN 6 MONTHS - Mule...I am getting phone calls from this CAPQUEST, CRAPQUEST or whatever they are called and I'm not even in debt!! Figure that??
Is there anyway to stop them calling? Fortunately whenever they ring me at the minute I'm at work, but one day I'm sure to answer the phone... I did actually ring them the other night to see who they were, but as soon as they asked me who I was I hung up the phone!!
If I ring them and speak to them and explain that I am NOT in debt do you think they will continue to call me?- Caller: CAPQUEST
- MuleI just rang them and asked them why they were ringing me.. They asked for my number which I gave them (they already have that so no harm there) said they were after a Mr. K. Stafford... No idea who he is. Apparently his address is Coldharbour Lane... That's in London... I live in Lincolnshire!!!! The girl was very polite and said she would have my number removed from the system... Hmmm, I wont hold my breath on that one!!
- Caller: CAPQUEST
- RWJWI didn't answer this call, but I'm stunned if it's a debt collection agency. I don't have any debts! I've just checked both of my bank accounts and everything is cleared, and any debits that need to be taken (which I have signed up for) can be taken. It's evidently a scheme to intimidate people.
- Does it matter?Hello to anyone reading this, I hope the advice I am giving here will give you some REAL help you to beat these debt-collecting scum at their own game.
Before I start, let me state I am not trying to make any money out of the advice given, or promote any profit-making organisations, (although some cynical people might not believe me!), but you will need to be willing to help yourself (instead of paying some dodgy company to do it for you).
Many people do not realise that some (if not all) their alleged debts may not actually be legally enforceable, so you could end up not having to pay the pondlife a single penny without the need to declare yourself bankrupt.
Whilst the CAB may indeed be useful for some people (and I don't want to belittle their good work) it seems it can be a bit hit and miss what advice you are given, and such advice may not always be the most suitable. In my case, had I taken their advice about 3 years ago (options such as IVA, bankruptcy, voluntary charges on my home, or sell my house and repay alleged debts), I would now be house-less and quite probably been made bankrupt.
THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD!
Some time after going to the CAB and feeling rather despondent at my options, I was Googling a particular (nasty) debt-collector and I could not believe my luck when I chanced upon a website (no, there are no costs to you for access to the advice on that website!) which opened my eyes to all sorts of BETTER options! Apparently that is how a lot of people find the site, which AFAIK now has over 200,000 members!
Some of the simplest and most cost-effective methods are very powerful weapons to get debt-collecting leeches off your back or even beat them in court. Who knows, you may even end up taking them to court!
A couple of examples are;
1) Requesting a copy of your Consumer Credit Agreement under sections 77,78, or 79 (according to the type of debt) of the Consumer Credit Act; if the Creditor cannot produce a copy (many can't!) of this (which contains ALL the
prescribed terms), he cannot enforce the alleged debt. All this will cost you is a £1 Postal Order (so no signature is required as with a cheque - to prevent any copy&pasting skullduggery of signatures!) plus postage to the Creditor or debt-collector!
2) Showing that a Default Notice (which has to be issued in accordance with sections 87 + 88 of the Consumer Credit Act is compliant. Many are not and do not give the required 14 clear days to rectify the default after allowing the
days for service (and are still being issued wrongly by some Creditors even after losing court claims they have instigated!). This can lead to the downfall of a court claim which has been brought against you, and you could end up receiving costs from the Claimant. I speak from experience here!
FREE ADVICE! NO CATCHES! NO CREDIT CARD DETAILS REQUIRED! NO PHISHING etc.!
I have to say that because some of you will probably still be thinking I am trying to get money out of you! You can read all the advice in all the forums at that website for absolutely no charge but if you want to post your own questions or advice you need to register as a member which is completely free and not on a trial basis or time-limited access or anything like that. Having said that, the site was started and is run by a small group of well meaning individuals who meet the sites running costs from voluntary donations by its members, so all donations are welcome!

And just for those of you who like to have a bit of fun with the debt-collecting callers, yes, you can now have even more fun due to your stronger position once you know your consumer rights! See here for an example;

Nowadays, using the weapon of Caller-ID, once I have established which numbers are from debt-collectors (after their initial call), when one of the low-lifes calls me I identify the number either from the phones memory or my own (it helps to be aware of the various area codes used as they sometimes have multiple numbers), and I simply 'pick-up' the call, wait 1 second or so without saying anything, then just hang-up! Believe it or not this is very effective in vastly reducing the calls you receive on a daily basis, and in the end they usually give up calling you, or do so very rarely.
So what are you waiting for?!!!- Caller: CrapQuest
- cosmic12gdf1You can call Paul McQuilkin on 07941 340277. He's very senior at capquest and can bypass the usual muppets.
- loopyIve been chased by these muppets for a debt due from 2001,I asked them to send me full details as im unaware of said debt, the loop hole here is the fact that they bought this debt in 2002 and only contacted me in 09,7 years means my debt if in deed reaL!!!!!!! unenforceable, ive had no reply to my letter but plenty of calls which as stated in my letter i refuse to answer.bE SURE TO CHECK YOUR RIGHTS BEFORE YOU DEAL WITH THEM...

click here for a sneeky preview http://dealwithdebt.homestead.com/homepage.html
tell me what you think, and if you like it and its helpful please tell others about it too, critism and advice is welcome if constructive.
tiz the season to be jolly, so forget your debts and have a good christmas time:O) - HolsWell i get at least 5 calls a day and then they leave a vociemail which is a recording! i hve told them i brought the phone and hve no idea wot they r tlking about but do they stop ringing!!! NO!!! bloody [***]! i mean they ring at 8am in the morn and up until 10pm at night!!!
GETTING QUITE ANNOYED NOW!! lol- Caller: capquest
- little helperthats good
this is why!!!
no debt company can call before 08.00am and not after 8pm mon to sat & on sunday..not before 8.30 & not after 7pm.unless you otherwise specify.
if they call out of these hours log time and date the call, get the name of the caller, then inform them you will be seeking legal advice & will sue for harassment
read the section on harassment on the site i posted above, when they ring again read the harassment law to them, then inform them of legal action if they persist.
also it clearly states that phone calls should be made at reasonable times, the holiday is not a reasonable time
merry christmas all have a week - liilt helperthats was meant to say
have a good week off. - jitI have told these people so many times i dont owe them nothing but still they harras me. They are blood seeking criminals who harras people. They say i took out a lone in 1995 and still to this day i have not had any lone what so ever.
- Caller: capquest
- little helperdont worry about it jit, i am sure somewhere in the law it says that if a debt is more than 6 or 7 years old and no effort was made to recover this debt withing the first 6 years, then it is written off, it sounds more like some company trying its luck, http://dealwithdebt.homestead.com/debtdealings.html
read the "what to do first" it should help with the calls if you follow what it says, usually they stop pestering so much,
