ringing me on my spare pay as you go, free simcard,   even I do not know the number, its just an emergency phone for home if the landline goes down, so Capquest have got the wrong number, I just answer and when they ask for some one, I just say NO, AND HANG UP,

Ex directory and they got my number too and I too never give it out. In fact no one actually uses the line for anything other than Broadband. Quite a shock to suddenly begin getting calls and then from these of all vermin.

I have never heard of the person they seek nor do they have the correct address BUT they just don't take no for an answer.

How did they get the number? Why did they get my number?

I did a bit of research and discovered that Experian (CreditExpert) had sold the data to them. So be warned.

Changed my number again today and that's that.

Just had a call from this number.  The moment I answered the phone there was a recorded message from Capquest telling (note, not asking) me to call an 0870 number.  If there is one thing I avoid like the plague it is 0870 numbers!
Useful information from your last contributor DirtyDonki who has discovered that his personal data had been sold on by Experian.  I wonder if that's where my six recent mystery callers obtained my ex-directory phone number.  And my only contact with them was to check my credit rating.  Naughty, naughty Experian!!!

Just recently my landline has been targeted with Capquest, regards some sort of debt that apparently is outstanding however no-one in this household owes money to anyone.

However someone in my house hold has used Experian (CreditExpert) and their free trial run to check how good their credit rating is (very good) and there are no outstanding debts.

I find this very interesting that suddenly details are submitted to Experian (CreditExpert) all the boxes are ticked not to pass on your data and then phone calls are made regards phantom outstanding debts?

I suggest people check if they have used Experian (CreditExpert) or anyone else in their households and see if this is a re-occurring issue regardless if you have outstanding debt or not?

If so that there maybe possible violations and legal laws broken that people/organisations maybe be held responsible towards.

Has anyone else used Experian (CreditExpert) had received phone calls or texts, I think this might start being an interesting conversation

Me again I phoned back and they said we need your bank account details so I hung up the phone and blocked the number ITS ALL A SCAM

interesting to hear that you learned that experian had sold data to this company and its interesting to note that i have recently cancelled my memberssip with this experian company too and interesting to know as soon as 2 days after cancelling my membership on the 21st december 2011 i got my first call from this company it may be if you are a member still of experian which i joined for my own security they may not be liable to you and pass any confidential data to anybody they like INTERESTING

yes i have used experian and as soon as i cancelled my membership i had my first phone call from this company there seems to be a definate ilegally method going on any ideas to solve this

Had a call from these people today, looking for an ex- employee of ours, the ex- employee has obviously used our address and contact numbers to borrow money from someone at some point - does anyone have any ideas how to deal with that????
If I knew where he was or how to get hold of him I would have told them!!

Got a call from this number today, asked for someone other than me when told that there was no-one of that name here they tried to continue the call by asking other questions so I hung up. Now realise that this is a scam call. As soon as you answer YOU get charged now have this number in my phone as Don't Answer!

i keep getting calls from this number every day

Within the last month i have had letter from DVSL requesting if i am the same person that lived at a different address as they had a letter for the named person, and to contact them with ref number.... i didnt do anything...  A few weeks later i recieved solicitor letter sort of saying same thing. THEN today i had a letter of CAPQUEST saying that they have purchased a debt from one of my previous creditors (barclays partner finance) I ALSO GOT A MISSED CALL FROM THIS NUMBER ABOVE TOO.

The letter states that my previous creditor BPF have sold my account to them with debt of £847.
Now this is funny because i went BANKRUPT exactly 2 years ago with this debt account and all my others too, so i phoned the bankruptcy OFFICIAL RECIEVER and he said they are not breaking the law doing this, they are just trying to get any money back anyway they can, so he said would then contact them and let them know i'm bankrupt and that the debt should of been written off.

Keep getting calls from this and at least two other numbers, usually hang up when I answer. They do not leave messages on answerphone. On a few occasions when They have spoken very difficult to understand and seem to be trying to talk to someone I have never heard of, You tell them that but sill the calls continue. Have started keeping log and will lodge a complaint unless it stops.

This number keeps calling my 11 year olds mobile, don't know how they get hold of these numbers cos there is no way an 11 year old has debts. lol    Wish they would stop though cos it makes her very wary getting calls from strangers.

i got a call from this number and when i answered they asked me to confirm my address when i asked them why they where calling they said on behalf of a client but would not tell me which one until i confirmed my details i told them i was not giving out my details until they would tell me still denied so i said i wouldnt give my details and told them not 2 ring me again i may have debts but i have a payment plan wif the compainies that i do.

I had a call from this number, this is a new build so can only assume it's the 'new' number I was provided with even though I am XD. I asked what address they had but did not get an answer.  I do not owe any debts and am in my 70's, this is harrassment, isn't there anyone to stop them??
