Looks like it's time for me to join the club! Just received the customary text message from our dear Ms. Palmer - I hope she won't be insulted by my ignoring her summons. I fully intend to give said person a ring the moment I observe an African Swallow migrating to England whilst carrying a coconut. My last horse suffered a terrible death in a rather pleasing cocktail and I've been looking for a new one ever since. Wish me luck, and a good day to you all.

yes i had a text from C A R S asking to call lucy palmer as a matter of URGENCY quoting ref blah blah.
i dont have a membership with fitness first etc or anyone else.
Not gonna bother if theyre known to watchdog etc.,

Oh no, I came across this site only after I payed them!!! As with so many others I got a text from CARS saying I had to contact Lucy Palmer and telling me to call urgently. I did try to cancel my fitness first account a couple of months ago and they wanted me for an appointment and they didn't have one available until after the end of the month of course so that I'd have to pay the monthly fee again. So I'm out 60 something pounds for nothing then. Great!

I just got the message sent too from a "Lucy Palmer" saying to contact urgently.  If it was that urgent why can't they phone me????

Got a message from the above number (Lucy Palmer) saying that i should call them urgently. I don't have any outstanding debts. Didn't bother to call them back. Knew straight away that it was fishy!!

I have had several calls from this number asking if Mr Darren Holmes could urgently contact Robert Parker as a matter of urgency quoting ref no. 3485092. I am not Mr Holmes.

I have been getting these texts too and now I realise it's Fitness First as I cancelled my membership verbally rather than 'filling in a form'. Thing is I paid a month's notice by cheque and also sent them recently a written letter of complaint. I will never use FF again. Thanks everyone.

Yep, Mine was from Lucy Palmer. asking me to call 01256 306797 urgently quoting a ref number blah blah blah. Text came up on my iphone from CARS but no number to identify.

I received a text message from CARS (Debt collectors) insisting that I contact Lucy Palmer urgently

So I did just that - I was told that I had to speak to their callcentre drone as Lucy Palmer was just a name they used, when I insisted that I speak to Lucy Palmer she hung up

So I called them back and asked to speak to Lucy Palmer and guess what - they put me through to someone who claimed to be Lucy Palmer, so I asked for her Date Of Birth (for data Protection) and she said " I don't have to give you that information"

So I asked her what they wanted and why they had text me and she said she'd have to take my name (for Data Protection) so I said "I don't have to give you that information"

she wasn't happy ;o)

I received a message from the same number today asking me to contact "Lucy urgently". I had an idea its Fitness First. coz they been trying to get money off my account for the last 3,4 months.

Don't even bother calling them ..

I just received a text from 'Lucy Palmer'. I know it's Fitness First and I refuse to pay them. It's not my problem they didn't take the payment after I cancelled my membership. Are they seriously going to continue harassing me for £32.00??? Go to hell!

I'd never heard of fitness first until I looked here so I don't know what they're after, suffice to say I wont be calling them anytime soon.

ive had them ringing off the 07515585775 number and ive just been unlucky not answer it.... i cancelled my membership thru fitness first a couple of months ago after finally finishing a years membership that i wish id never signed up to... to find out that on their data bases, i still owe 2 months... ive ignored them obviously, because thats just taking the piss! it took me three years to finish a year contract! (had to freeze some months due to lack of funds on my part!) ...
CARS have been on my case for a couple weeks now, but im receiving letters too now, and im abit worried cos the last one i received (today) actually says they will take legal action, and that i now owe a total of 178 pounds... FOR TWO MONTHS ???? erm no i dont think so!!!

so if anyone else is worried about receiving their letters too, have they been given any decent advice that might also help me out?? stupid f$%king fitness first, im too hench for them anyways!

My husband got a text on his fone from C.A.R.S. and to speak to a LUCY PALMER to call giving a reference no. He asked me to call and see what it was about.
When I called they says it was about collecting an outstanding amount on a van insurance policy. A policy in which was cancelled IN WRITING months ago because we no longer have the van. (The insurance policy was in my husbands name)
Now the details they have on screen were in my name!! I explained that the policy was cancelled blah de blah and that I would not be paying this balance. They replied with "well we will take this further" to which I replied "go ahead!".

The post arrived about 10 mins after I made the call and my HUSBAND again had a letter addressed to him from the SAME company, chasing him for the debt which is seemingly in MY NAME!!!
When I called...yet again!...to querie this, I was told...yet again!...that it is in MY NAME!! Explaining the text and letter to my husband for a bill which is in my name, they were asked to make up their mind whos debt this was!!, "on our 'system' it is your name", then I was told to send the letter back and they will amend the information!!!!
They were told where they can shove their letter and will be receiving NO PAYMENT. Again, I was told the matter would be "taken further"...

My advice would be to ignore the text if you know you are in the right. Fight it all the way.
These people are nothing but legal bullies to chase money for companies whos fault it is in the first place!!!
A statement on the letter read, in capitals, "PLEASE DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS MATTER OR OUR RESOLVE TO OBTAIN PAYMENT".
Bullying...??? I think so...!!!
