Just received a tx from , lucy palmer asking me to contact them urgently , i did phone back but had the phone put down on me when i refused to confirm my details, but the rude woman said she would send me a letter!! So she does have my address then silly moose

How darn right rude of them to buy off companys your details to try and scam money out of us!!!

Seems C.A.R.S. are back to their old tricks again. I recieved a text today 'apparently' from a Lucy Palmer. I had signed up to Love Film for their 3 month trial (great while it lasted but i am a trial hopper) hehe. Of course i cancelled my account week before trial ended and i have now moved on somewhere else. What i don't get is that Love Film are sending me emails saying their is an urgent problem with my debit Card...wth?..i cancelled.

If they didn't cancel it properly, tought titty!!

This girl ain't paying a penny to these annoying people.

I had the same 'urgent' text. Found this site and am now going to ignore it! I was a member of Fitness First but I paid all my bills off so I don't know what they want!

Wow, it would appear that Lucy and Robert are busy people!

I've read the first few pages here, and it seems that these messages primarily come from people who've had disputes with fitness First, who then pass their dirty work onto this CARS company.

However, I've never dealt with Fitness First, nor Sky, Tiscali, LoveFilm (although I thought about it) or any other company listed on this page.  I had a little problem with ebay, but it was some other company chasing me (who've now given up it would seem)

Do we have a list of every company that these texts may be in regard to?

OK, just just called these jokers.  Conversation went roughly like this:

Agent: Hi you're through to CARS, can I take your reference please?
Me: Yes, who is CARS?
A: We're "Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions"
M: Ah, so is that a debt collection agency?
A: We are a debt recovery service, yes
M: Ah, OK.  Isn't it illegal for a debt recovery agency to send unsolicited text messages?
A: Is this Lewis ******* [my name]

Now, as he just gave out my name over the phone, isn't he breaking data protection act?  Does anyone know, to whom can I complain?

i did recieve a letter from this company,
its regarding my love film account which i cancelled my direct debt due to the fact that i lost my bank card, i have rung them on the day i got my first tx from cars after i found this site, the kind gentleman that i spoke to said that i still had a dvd of theirs, which in fact i dont as i have never ordered a dvd from them hense i didnt bother to put in my new bank details, he kindly cleared my account and closed it for me.
I have this morning aent love film an email asking them how CARS got hold of my name, contact details etc , so im just awaiting a response.

Just got a text message to call Lucy palmer. tried to look up who C.A.R.S were.Glad I have found out who they are. I have never been part of fitness first or love film. I guess they will have to write to me. i have been entering compettions and doing surveys so I am now assuming that they have come accross my number some how. Its very annoying....Anyone know how to stop these messages...

Got same SMS message this morning and spoke to someone who would not tell me the nature of the call until I had confrimed my address and DOB.

Of course I refused explaining, 'why would I give out these details to stranger' and she explained 'it was the law-data protection act.' Pretty rude too.

She then said she'd send me a letter after that argument as I still refused to give out my details and I told them that they perhaps should of done that first if you have those details. I really hat the attitude of debt collection agencies like this who think they can talk and act how they want.

Assuming this is to do with Fitness First as I cancelled my membership at the end of last year. Keep chasing losers as I cancelled fair and square! Fitness First are horrendous when you want to cancel and make it very hard...beware!

I have received a text asking to contact Lucy palmer very urgently quoting with a ref number. Which I did and spoke to a man who asked for my address.I asked him what is CARS and didi not get what it was.so refused to disclose my details.he said he will send me urgent letter and hanged the phone.

Thanks so much for the tip ! Same story for me but it's Nuffield Health Club. I cancelled my direct debit by bank at the end of my contract. Cant believe the gym would give my details to such an horrendous company, it was a very nice and friendly gym, managed by Westminster City Council. Does anyone know who is passing the details on ?

I've had that text and ignored two unknown mobile calls today. I'm sure the following mobile numbers also belong to them. 07929 637 888 & 07929 639 214

I rang back anonomously and as soon as they answer they ask for your reference number.

Tried to cancel my Fitness First Contract a few months ago as I moved overseas and funnily enough was never called or emailed back to my many messages! So like everyone else I cancelled my direct debit!  The slimy b@stards.. so glad I read this page will NOT be calling this company back.

Would like to know what happens with the letters though!

I got a message from Lucy yesterday, Luckily i checked here before calling them, i cancelled my Sky a while back as i moved to a block of flats where i cannot have sky, so i owe them about £65 so they say...
and i also cancelled my insurance the other day due to them refusing to insure my new car and then insisted on paying them (on top of the 4 months at £130 a month another £200 shortfall (Auto Trader insurance)

I guess when they contact me by mail and "ASK" for the money instead of DEMANDING payment now before we will discuss it with you.

Had a message today to call Lucy Palmer urgently, quoting a reference number. Some guy answered and wouldn't tell me who he was, but the text was concerning a property I moved out of 12 months ago. He asked me for the postcode for Data Protection, which I have forgotten, so he couldn't tell me any more information, unless I could find out the postcode. I suggested I look it up on the internet ( just like anyone else could if they were given the address, like I was ). He said that would be ok. So much for Data Protection then  !!! Told him if they were going to talk crap, not to bother contacting me again. Bunch of muppets.

Just got a text From the lovely Lucy . Be careful what you say on here because I'm sure they have someone monitoring the replies . Trust.!!!

Got a text and, as with most others, is from Lucy Palmer. Havent called them and wont be doing so. Nice try Fitness First! :)
