I've been meaning to track this spooky number down for a few days and landed here when I searched the internet. I also spoke with a woman with a Tyneside accent promptly followed by a bunch of silent calls from them after I told them I wasn't interested. Having read the previous complaints on here I see that the Unique Prospects Ltd company is also in Tyneside. I have just checked this with companies house and there are in fact 2 sister companies. If they call me again I now know where to complain and it wont just be the TPS!

We have just had this number call us and when we picked up all we heard was classical music and messages about being on hold and the call being important to them and an agent would answer shortly as if we called them! We could not disconnect from the call. We rang off several times but we were still connected. We even tried disconnecting the phone from the wall, removing the batteries, resetting the phone, unplugging all the cables and every time, we were still connected. After about 5 minutes, the message said that the caller had hung up and we were finally released.

It was extremely stressful and upsetting as we have a family crisis going on and I didn't know if it was the hospital or what.

We didn't call the number back as we have to keep the phone free right now but we have reported this to the TPS as we are concerned as to why we could not disconnect!

Themis, I have had my telephone wires blighted by these bounders as well. However, unlike you I see both the data supplier Unique Prospects and the data purchaser Redress Claims as being equally culpable.

As you no doubt noted from this thread, UP peddles its data in backroom forums to outfits such as RC and the latter is naturally only to eager to purchase. UP's relationship with call spamming PPI claims outfits is not a one off - look at https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08000901740 As another poster mentioned, they obviously do not vet their clients although I am sure they may well do so now.

I have also consulted companies house. If Mark Turnbull as a director registers a company from a home address it is in the public domain. Once entered at companies house it can accessed freely. One would expect a data savvy director of a data company to understand this, so they only themselves to blame if it appears elsewhere like on a third-party reseller http://bizzy.co.uk/uk/06972119/unique-prospects-intl or here.

I find it more than a coincidence that UP is in Tyne-and-Wear which is precisely the accent some of those plagued on here mention. Do you think they have a call -centre (as stated on their website) and call on behalf of various PPI claims outfits? I don't have the "several hours" spare to research as you obviously did but perhaps you could look into this?

asked them who was calling, couldn't catch what they said asked to repeat 3 times, caught "something dress claims" repeated this back to them and they hung up. We have call preference and they have phoned 4 times every day for a week but I doubt they'll call back now.

to collect accurate information you can do the following (taken from http://www.users.waitrose.com/~silentcalls/July.html )

4. Speak to the Nuisance Call Bureau (NCB) of your telephone service provider.

Ask them to enable the "call tracing facility" on your line.

They may need some persuasion. They can only do this for a limited number of lines, and must deal first with those who are receiving genuinely malicious calls. If you have been getting a regular pattern of silent calls, would reasonably expect to get more and intend to proceed with a formal complaint to Ofcom, then they should provide this facility.

The trace facility will only be provided for a limited period of time, perhaps one month. Be sure that you would expect to receive calls that need to be traced whilst you are in and ready to do the trace during that period. Make this clear to the NCB - they also want to see Silent Calls stopped and will be keen to help someone determined to do what is necessary to make this happen.

You must understand that they will not reveal the detail obtained from any trace to you, not the name of the company, nor even the number. They will reveal both to Ofcom.

The trace will only be applied to calls that you want traced, they will not be making a list of everyone who calls you.

Calls from overseas will not normally give a useable trace. Every call from the main UK network will.

5. Once the trace is enabled, you will have instructions about how to operate it.

This will be a series of numbers to dial after each call that you want to be traced has finished. Follow the instructions and keep a note of the date and the time of each traced call. Remember to do the trace immediately, before you make or receive another call.

6. You will need to speak to the NCB about each trace.

This is necessary to confirm that they have retrieved usable information. They may also tell you if they recognise the number as one from which lots of traced silent calls are made - this is very useful information.

They will not tell you the number or the name of the company.

Make a note of the reference by which they have recorded the information so that you can refer Ofcom directly to this record - this will normally be your number and the date and time that they have for the call.

Then make your complaint to ofcom

It's my opinion that Mark Turnbull (aka Turnbullshit) could be an idiot. He has a collection of dissolved companies and sells our data to anyone without question as to how they intend to (mis) use the data. Both are the actions of an idiot.

Perhaps the dodgy PPI Claims Management companies who use Mark will stop calling us when Unique Prospects goes the way his other companies have gone. We can only live in hope.

We keep geting a call from this number & it plays music, with the words " every call is vauable to us."

Are they dumb enough not to speak to you, when they ring. Who do they pay to get the numbers. Do they not realise they upset everybody they ring by not speaking.

4 missed calls today! Checked here and not the emergency I thought it must be! Instead it's a bunch of PPI claims [***] and data dealers who need exterminating. Worse than bent MPs or Estate Agents. I agree, Lou; Mark Turnbull has again proved that he's an idiot.

Daily calls from this number but not answered them, did have a call from a company few months agao about PPI and told them I was not interested (got funny with me), so now they seem to be trying again. Caller ID the best thing ever, come home at end of day to 2 - 8 missed calls all from companies I have no interest in speaking to, and now when I am in I can screen the calls. TPS really doesn't seem to work !
