- fubaredkeep getting calls from this number..
REPORT THEM TO http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/telecom ... /?itemid=284912 - AL-MI've received a call from a rather "cocky" person who thought I had the time to waste with him and his stupid attitude. I asked him how he got my name and number which is supposed to be ex-directory (is there still such a thing?) and he said "from my database!!" I asked him not to call again and if they do it again I'll report them to the police. I may not carry through the threat but I'm sick of running to my phone thinking there's something wrong with a family member (as most people I know call me on my mobile). Stupid people better leave me alone before I lose myself in abuse!
- Caller: Someone selling Home Insurance
- Call type: Telemarketer
- matsmumHad two calls from this number today both times just played continuous piano music I hung up both times but when I went to use the phone later on in the day the music was still playing. The only time it stopped was when I shouted down the phone that there was a medical emergency
- Kevin Wills replies to Mark TurnbullMark, you [***]. You sold our names and numbers to these fellow [***] so are guilty of this conspiracy to plague us with spam calls. Pick your clients more carefully instead of just raking in the cash, idiot!
- BFI received a call today from this number (01274663293), calling themselves "PPI Advice Line", but when I pointed out I was TPS registered and demanded to speak to their supervisor, they hung up. This was the latest of several calls from the same number, most of which are silent.
The postal address on their website (http://www.ppiadviceline.co.uk/index.php?opti ... &id=20&Itemid=8) is the exact same as the one for Redress, so it's clear they have changed their name (and their MoJ official reference number - CRM21579 instead of CRM16616) but operating the same cold-calling scam. So, there are a number of things we can ALL do:
Complain to the TPS: http://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/
Complain to the ICO: http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/privacy_and_electronic_communications.aspx
Complain to the MoJ: http://www.justice.gov.uk/global/contacts/cla ... ation/index.htm (except email 'consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk', not 'info@claimsregulation.gov.uk')
Complain to the DMA: http://www.dmcommission.com/make-a-complaint/complaints-form/
Complain to the newspapers - most Saturday and Sunday titles have a consumer finance "champion" - if it really irritates you as much as it does me, write to them. A couple of pages ago, the Times deputy finance editor provided his contact details, for example.
The Ministry of Justice is VERY interested that the PPI Advice Line "Complaints Handling Procedure" page is blank (see http://www.ppiadviceline.co.uk/index.php?opti ... id=12&Itemid=10) - so use that as the hook for complaining to them. Make sure you use their official MoJ licence number (CRM21579 or CRM16616).
Good luck in bringing these shysters to justice!

- JanetGot a call from 01274 663293 today. Suspected it was dodgy as it immediately started playing classical music, which I could have assumed was hold music. Hung up but tried to dial out few minutes later and music was still there. Don't understand the point of it really, but maybe if I had of held on I would have got a person. This sort of thing must be stopped, it could really frighten vulnerable people.
- Caller: no idea
- Juliette AshmoreThey are constantly calling me,even in the evening. Sometimes the ring tone will ring only three times then stop. When I pick up it goes dead and I have also spoken to someone and told them that I wasn't interested..They STILL persist and ring constantly!!
- Caller: PPI
- oldieJust had a call from redress. Wanted to discuss changes to government legislation but wouldn't tell me what unless I confirmed I was the person they asked for and as I realised it was a cold call I hung up.
I too am signed up with TPS and have been for a long time and I do regularly check that I am still registered.
In the last 6 months or so I have been plagued with calls about computer viruses, PPI and Toucan Claims. I don't know where they are getting my number and name from.- Caller: Redress
- Francis HallThese people never stop - the third call from them or PPI Advice Line (same company) in a week. I urge EVERYONE to complain to the TPS about these scam merchants:
http://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/
If the management of this company still read this forum (they posted on page 1), I have a couple of questions:
- why do you use a fake outgoing number (01274663293) if you have nothing to be ashamed of?
- why do you persist in breaking the law in making unsolicited calls without checking if the recipients are registered with the TPS?
- why do your automated systems ring with classical music, and then keep the line open so the recipient can't make any calls themselves?
I hope the Ministry of Justice come down on you like a ton of proverbial cold-calling-scamming bricks.- Caller: Redress Claims
- Call type: Telemarketer
- LisaP replies to scowieJust got a call from this number and it went straight to very annoying music putting me on hold!
I held on for about 5 minutes so I could speak to whoever it was and give them a piece of my mind, but some man with an extremely grating and annoying American accent who kept informing me how important my call was to them got the better of me in the end so I hung up.
Most irritating of all was everytime I picked the phone back up to do 1471 to find the number out, they were still on my line! - Philip| 1 replyHad a call from this number this afternoon 3.14 just got music &"your call is important to us please hold"
putting the phone down did not cut it off neither did removing the phones from the sockets. After about 5 mins did manage to get 1471 to find this no- Call type: Prank
- Ted replies to PhilipSame here and complained to Ofcom because this qualifies as an abandoned call:

https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/webflow/silent-calls/ - TrevGot a call from this number today Friday 22nd July 2011. Shame is, I picked up the call because it was not a with-held number or International.
The girl from this company (I think she Reed or something like that) started talking about changes in the Finance Act and then said I could clear all my debts!. On asking how she knew I had debts (I don't have any) she became a bit obtuse.
So I challenged her about contacting me when my phone number is registered with the TPS. She said she'd checked and it wasn't. Liar - it has been since 2007. I told her I was going to report her number to TPS and needed her details (name, Company name and address) which she refused to give me so I told her I was reporting the tel number anyway. Reported 22/7/11.
It's time that greater control by Government was brought to bear on these unsolicited nuisance calls which waste our time and try our patience. If I need financial advice I'd find someone to give it to me not wait for someone to phone out of the blue!!!!! And that goes for will writing, double glazing etc.- Caller: Unkown
- Nicola SawyerI have returned home on several occasions to find missed calls from this number. When i am in an answer the call there is no one at the other end of the line.

That just leaves the sister company selling our details to all and sundry. Hopefully it'll go the way that Turnbull's other companies have gone as well - dissolved.

JUST 4 DATA LTD (2010-11-01) - Two can play the game| 1 replyWhen I received a call from these people tonight, I just hung on and "enjoyed" their hold music. Eventually, after 6 minutes of them incurring call charges they decided to give up on me! Ha ha! I patiently waited for a response when I picked up the call, as I figure I can multi task while I cook. Let them pay as much as possible to get nowhere. That will dent their "business plan".
- BriHad A call from 01274663293 today, woman from MoneySave asks
if i have any credit cards or personal loans told her i was not interested
then i hung up. - Liz Davies| 1 replyRang a few times in a morning but rang off after 2 rings so I didn't get to even pick up the receiver! Just rang again - yet another firm looking for PPI Claims. How can they get away with this when you are registered with TPS?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Liz Davies replies to Two can play the gameI love doing that too - just picking up the receiver and not saying anything, very satisfying!
- Liz Davies replies to Liz Daviesps The number was 01274663293 that rang. Now on my block list which is almost as long as my list of friends!
