I would advise anyone being threatened by these scumbags to let them take you to Court, rather than pay them. I am a CAB volunteer of several years, and can tell you with confidence that any Court would send these scammers packing. AND they would end up having to pay YOUR costs as well. A contract has to be fair under English Law and quite clearly, that's not the case with these lowlifes. Their pathetic attempt at damage limitation on this site doesn't wash. The post where they threatened Court action was not only laughable, but very unprofessional. Absolute joke of a company.

Have any of you been taken to court? and whats the outcome?

Same as all the other comments really. Promised a website, advertising etc. for £2,000.00 but took over £8,000.00 from the account, claiming the order was not confirmed at £2,000.00 but was actually £6,000.00ish +VAT. I also received threats from them if I didn't pay. Long story short, do not agree to anything with these people.

Hi to everyone reading this. I am so glad that this scam of a company has now gone down. Here is my story...I was cold called many times by Motortrades stating they are the best website team to get unlimited work & phone calls etc so I eventually agreed to a 15 month advertising campaign for the price of 12 months as a new customer offer, little did I know this was going to come back & bite me on the [***] big time. 12 months after my advert was on their website got a call from a bully named Steve, stating that my advert was ran out despite me having 92 days left, after he was demanding me for £3500.00 + VAT to renew my advert which I did not want too as I did not get 1 single phone call from it or not 1 single hit to my website was being repeatedly threatened if I did not pay I would be getting visits from bailiffs in order to retake/repossess my home, never mind take me to court or anything like that, lets get the bailiff's in! this putting me under severe stress & pressure, I eventually agreed to a new website of them (which is a load of S***E!) they have me based in London somewhere which in fact I am based over 200 miles away from London & this new website does not even have my phone no on & the design of it all does not even tally with anything I do. I agreed to a reduced fee of £1100.00 + Vat which should have been £1398.00 approx. When I got back home to check my credit card balance these scumbags had taken nearly £1700.00 from my credit card. However Monday morning came around & I contacted them to see why they had taken the overcharged amount I was given a load of bulls**t over net price/gross price, in other words they have charged me TWICE on the VAT, however was not prepared for was about to happen next, because of this automatic renewal programme & because I did not sign the electronic document I owed them another £9000.00 or so plus VAT, however if I signed up with them there & then they can reduce this bill to £4500.00. If I did not agree to this the usual threats of the bailiffs would be coming within 24-48 hours & my home would be repossessed, this left me in a very frightened state as I did not want this happening to my family or myself but also cleared out 99% of all my hard earned funds, I felt very forced to make this payment thinking once this was paid they would be off my back, so agreed to this under duress thinking this was to be the end. How F*****G wrong was I! Tuesday morning came & spoke to a guy named Chris & also Brad stating that I have not opted out of automatic renewal of my 1st advert but this time demanding me for £15000.00 + VAT BUT if I sign up now they can reduce this to £9300.00, I tried my very best not to pay this stating I was driving on the motorway & stated if the call ends without agreement I would be billed £15000.00 + Vat, however I was advised that the motorway services has Wi-Fi & I should use this facility in order to make full payment OR ELSE, I told them there was no computer facilities at motorway service areas so they tried guiding me to a local library to get on a computer there in order to make payment. This obviously did not work so in the end used my Iphone to sign the agreement. They emptied everything out of my business bank account, business credit card & also my personal credit card. I am now in debt by nearly £13000.00. I did try to get legal help with this, I contacted dominic littlewood who I never received a reply from him, I got in touch with trading standards who looked into matters but stated my word against theirs, got in touch with action fraud in which they logged my complaint but took no further action, got in touch with my local police who said it was a civil matter & also got in touch with Essex police who states they have heard of them but have never had any complaints about them. Someone must be lining someone's pockets out there. I was able to get a business loan of my bank which was just enough to clear my credit cards debt. However I did end up seeing a solicitor over this who took on the case but have had to withdraw from fighting this due to the expensive charges they charge. Nearly £1000.00 for a couple of letters & a few emails & still not getting very far with this. The affects of what motortrades has done has now put me on medication from my doctor due to all the stress of it all. I have suffered 90% hair loss & have also suffered a nervous breakdown through it all. I have now closed down my business as it was uneconomical due to the debts that had been created via motortrades, the resourcer group & dev.box. However I forgot to mention that when you are signing your electronic document you are letting these so called people into YOUR computer in which they can get access to your email account in which they can delete the emails they have sent you except the emails you have forwarded onto other parties. If there is any inquiry regarding this company I would be very glad to assist any authorities with this as this cannot happen to anyone else. Steve Jakes is a C**T for what he has done to me & many others. It is a little bit reassuring that I am not the only 1 but this type of practice must STOP. As many of you are aware they are now called Search Media Ltd. Different name, same sh*t

then clause 75 is for you.

Google clause 75 charge back. Even if its just a deposit and the balance on check or bank transfer you can claim back the lot

Left previous employment in a professional environment after being sold the dream by the recruitment guy and Fred the wet lettuce. Stayed for one day and witnessed the malign and chaotic behaviour of the apparent "boss" who exhibited an addicition to cocaine which could rival that of Tony Montana. Techno music played so loud that you couldn't think straight and fell into a trance-like state while some p.rat called Paul Knott marched up and down shouting about sacking under performers to make way for the new recruits to bed down into Brentwood's very own corner of hell. Needless to say, never went back for the second day.

I was a customer and I too got the 'renewal call' from a very Bolshy kid. I have to say though - it makes me laugh that the majority of comments on here are by ex staff - the same staff that knew all about the practices that were taking place. I find it amusing that the staff now feel hard done by and conveniently forget that they are the very same people that provided a crap service. I think it says it all that these idiots have nothing better to do but to come on here and moan whilst forgetting that it was them that affected people like me! Grow up - nobody cares - you are not victims, you made victims out of people like me!

Could not have put it better myself, scammed me big time last year with devastating effects.

I was a member of staff, but left because of the unprofessional way the directors (all) and senior team leaders treated staff below them and the deceitful way they upgraded, glad I left before things got this bad, but got to say some nice people there too, just a shame it wasn't run properly

Hi  man dad took out a package with this first firm the original sales guy was great then 2 days later someone else called sayign what person has sold to you was rubbish ...the recording if you want to cover skip hire we can provide better package , they never say listing ,advertising or rip off ... anyway we decided not to spend anymore money ..3 months after that my dad got another call saying need to pay upgrade fee £8000 for renewal ...he told me and i told them that we hadn't agreed ..rude person said well we've got signed agreement if you don't pay we'll take you to court ... i said see you in court ...ufindalocal person then said right ... over next 3 weeks we had abusive phone calls

all like to say keep this going as waring to anyone do research before signing agreement and we all need to have free speech let theufindalocal staff reply on line tell us why did they use high pressure approach ......my dad won't advertise online now totally [***] .. make me laugh seeing £5000 web good value

I have used the services of motortrades and ufindalocal over the past 3 years and I am very happy with the results from my campaigns.

On the down side I did have a call from a rude arrogant kid telling me I had to renew which I was happy to do but didn't want to deal with him as he was very unprofessional and wanted to charge me a huge renewal rate. I hung up on him and called the customer service team who told me my campaign wasn't even due for renewal so I should never of had the call. A couple of months later I was sent a letter renewing my campaign for the same coverage at the same cost as the previous year. After receiving my letter I sent a cheque for the full amount and am still happy with the service I receive.

I've been reading this as I've had a call from someone warning me that this company is ripping people off and they think I'm one of them.

I would like to say that apart from the one rude kid I have always had a good and professional service.

From reading this it seams that the down fall to this company it the management and the renewal team.

The customers that have been treated correctly by staff are happy with the service and products.

I hope the management and directors are reading this and realize that the problem isn't the staff, the product it's the way it's been run and that senior staff have not been accountable for there actions.

I wonder if search media have paid their staff today!!! It's payday! Lol bet they've not.... Also have media search payed they're taxes and whilst jakes swans around in flash Q5 his staff are not paid this is not right IMO

Funny how pages and pages and pages of people detailing their bad experiences with this company an the company's management disappear and then all of sudden a post from a 'satisfied' customer! Ha ha... As if.

Can the moderators of this forum please explain the reason for the removal of so many posts on this thread? I think everyone who has posted deserves an explanation....

They're being bullied by jakes and probably told they're lies but as we all know Steve jakes had or has a bad cocaine problem that made him impossible to work for so everyone kept leaving theirs a new office opening again after they were kicked out of Regus for not paying rent
